  1. Here's the third of five paintings I recently won from Prop Store Auctions (UK). Vic Fair's prototype design for the 1966 British comedy, THE WRONG BOX. Full write-up at: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1483161
  2. Here's the secondt of five paintings I recently won from Prop Store Auctions (UK). I usually don't much care for T&A for the sake of showing a bit of flesh but thought the idea behind the design on this one was quite inventive. Full write-up at: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1483019
  3. I ended-up having to sell my first home because I'd bought it with a previous girlfriend and her replacement (now my beloved wife) had serious issues with the idea! I thought that replacing the bed I once shared with someone else might placate her but, no, then came the house!
  4. Stay away from Steve Ditko artwork. Steve was (and maybe still is) a follower of Ayn Rand. Better still, dump his OA in my direction.
  5. Here's the first of five paintings I recently won from Prop Store Auctions (UK). Full write-up (and additional images) at: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1482897 JUDITH (1966)
  6. No idea who the artist is but he's entitled to his political views. I have friends and family with different political viewpoints but I try never to take it personal.
  7. Mostly agree with you, Dan. Star Trek's longevity, which has lasted decades, eclipses Robocop in my book, and despite me believing it to be the best received movie of the original bunch of movie outings, I do think that ST IV is still a standout entry in its own right. ST's fanbase is phenomenal (and I wouldn't even class myself as a Trekkie, by the way) and I sorely doubt that Robocop's following comes anywhere close. In all fairness, I get that the Robocop original (touched-up photograph) 'artwork' will be considered a prize for fans of the original movie . . . but if we transposed the idea of mostly photographic 'artwork' to, say, a comic-book cover for example, Robocop would equate to something like a heavily-statted piece of art. There would definitely be collectors ready to consume such things . . . but at the end of the day most would be painfully aware the original artwork content is just not the same as a fully-rendered piece.
  8. You may well be right. I recall Star Trek IV being well received at the time of its release (all my friends loved it) but, yeah, Wrath of Khan is a standout ST movie. Anything that followed directly on from Star Trek The Motionless Picture and came up with a decent movie experience is bound to be revered!
  9. The first movie was a massive bore-fest. The Movie Poster was far superior to the dull-as-dishwater movie it promoted.
  10. Hey, Mitch, I periodically check your web-site but see no Movie Poster paintings being listed for sale at this moment in time? If you have anything on offer, please feel free to promote your sales on my FB group.
  11. Oh, I don't know . . . the original ROBOCOP Movie Poster 'original' (which was basically a touched-up photograph) sold for $47,800. STAR TREK, I would suggest, has a much-larger following . . . and STAR TREK IV is widely acclaimed as being the best of the bunch (plus the fact it's all original painted art).
  12. Hello all Currently having a bit of a heated discussion about the Bob Peak original Movie Poster painting for this much-loved STAR TREK feature film that's due to be auctioned-off soon on Heritage. Estimate is $40 - 80,000 which I personally feel is realistic. I know most people here are comic-book artwork fans, but some of us also like Movie and Illustration art. Any thoughts on the final price . . . what do folks here think it will fetch? The seller is on my FB group. Here's the link to the auction: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fmovieposters.ha.com%2Fitm%2Fstar-trek-iv-the-voyage-home-by-bob-peak-paramount-1987-signed-original-mixed-media-poster-artwork-40-x-57-andlt-%2Fp%2F7181-119001.s%3Fic4%3DGalleryView-ShortDescription-071515&h=AT08BTFFCRAWE99LnxxNjbnW0aC3f13uasUbV8I5iRqk82lCa02AnR8YS9ZtLNmQ1NMCqcQD2Lxppbd0fSk2UZQrzRzBGcO-StwYRUE1WQaSGCuXIuo4nBQ_ZYLapT0rWSctbS5-3xC1OfqROw0 And here's an image of the painting:
  13. Lots of great-looking artworks surfacing on your FB group. Not something I'd been paying attention to in the past but now that I'm seeing what's been done am growing quite fascinated by it all. Well done, Bronty.
  14. Another one back from the framers . . . American one-sheet design for AND NOW THE SCREAMING STARTS (1973). The painting was minus captions, which I added in the form of a re-created elements placed on top of a mylar overlay. With thanks to Doug Murray who sold me the painting.
  15. We're now at about seven months into this Facebook group I created and are over 700 strong (and growing steadily). Lots of terrific Movie Poster original paintings are being showcased every day . . . plus originals are sometimes offered for sale to members at fixed asking prices . . . eBay and other auction sources are given the heads-up. Several professional Movie Poster artists are in the group . . . and we even have plans for a get-together in Hamburg, Germany later on in the year. You don't have to own any paintings to share to become a member as you can just sit back and enjoy the great images that are being shared by other collectors, so new members are always welcome! Link to the FB group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/131047770909401/ Some example photos . . .
  16. Seems like a minefield to navigate. If ever I'm bidding in an auction scenario, I always factor-in extra costs on top of the hammer price (so my budget is based on overall cost).. Works for me as hidden fees have already been taken into account in my bidding strategy.
  17. The link in the OP's post worked fine for me. Personally, I haven't bid on any HA offerings in a long, long time Most people seem to wait on the big auction houses' offerings but I usually find what I'm looking for doing the leg-work through networking or actively tracking stuff down under my own devices.
  18. I read the title of this thread and immediately thought, "Donnellys?" Then I read the first post and had my suspicion confirmed.
  19. Different take (scroll down to the bit about 'Bob Kane's Bat-Gosts'): http://www.dialbforblog.com/archives/391/
  20. As Kane was known to farm out a lot his drawing chores to 'ghost' artists, maybe there wasn't a great deal of his own work to possibly reclaim?
  21. ASM 30 cover by Ditko also exists.
