I loved seeing you guys freak out.
NO I have NOT seen the movie yet.
However I am really hoping for a Darth Vader force ghost!
Because of you, I was going to wait for Bluray release.

The 10.0 did sell, on CLink a few years back I think. Foolkiller slabbed it, but I don't recall what it brought. Over $10k though. I think $17k? Might be wrong on that.
$17Kish does sound right. But was this sale not before Deadpool/Bitcoin like mania struck?

It's the first 12 display stand, and they messed up the appraisal so bad
Cool item, but nowhere on the rarity level of the Sears exclusive ESB 7-pack. I actually remembered seeing this episode after it aired.
Here's mine with the original mailer box, unapplied decal sheet - the backing was never even put in the stand, so it's flat and near mint.
This thread delivers on so many levels. Thank you. I was lucky to have this set as a 5 year old. Seems like yesterday. I actually fell asleep at the end of Episode IV. My dad woke me up as Han Solo made his surprise appearance. Remember waiting in the most insane line for ROJ. You know I think what is the driving force for these collectibles is that its so tangible. It really takes you back. I feel so lucky having experience the 70s as a little kid and teen years in the 80s. These were truly some amazing times.

Incredible! I remember like yesterday going out to eat pizza with my parents. It was a hot summer evening. After we hit an Edwards department store. I sprinted to the toy department and low/behold they had one battle armor he-man left. I snagged it. Funny thing, I was a little "older" during this phase and was actually not opening most of my toys immediately. Even at the age of 11 or 12, the OCD was strong in me and I managed to leave him sealed on card for nearly two full weeks! Everyday after school I would rush home and run my pretend toy store. Well eventually I caved and opened him. Man those were the days. Thanks for posting......

That reminds me so much of childhood - where everything was mail order...., from catalogs and stuff. No internet.
Your post made me think of those Topps Baseball and Football sticker albums in the 80's. I think the packs came with 6 stickers and were 20 or 25 cents each and made in Italy. You could order alla carte the specific stickers you were missing to complete the album. Remember like yesterday writing out my grocery list and double checking before mailing it out. It was over the top excitement when that envelope came back with the stickers

If you shipped a 3 lb box from coast to coast (NY to CA) overnight with a $5K value, USPS would charge $113 insured/landed.

I've always wondered what the earliest book that received a 10.0 was. Could that limited series 1 be the earliest?
In terms of the CGC historical grading timeline; I believe this issue (not this exact slab pictured with blue label by OP) is definitely one of the earlier 10.0 slabs graded. If memory serves, a red label 10.0 Wolvie Limited #1 sold on eBay for a few thousand dollars somewhere around 2003ish to 2005ish.

I assume grader's notes would be your friend on this one, along with opinions of a quality presser, perhaps joeypost. I'm in the same boat on a recent purchase on whether a press/clean would help, as I don't have a lot of experience with a press, I'm going with joeypost once he is up and running (he is in Florida). Perhaps some only have bends or other pressable defects. Anything with "foxing" or "breaks color" is not pressable, that's all I know and may be a cheaper alternative to find candidates
I still have some 9.8's left that I will compare and contrast. I am aware of the above variables. But other than a deal breaker flaw, would be curious to tangibly see in person how tight the gap is between the two grades when you have a NM+ comic that has been sandwiched in a slab for 4+ years and then pressed out and the probability of it getting a bump.

Never submit

I'm confused. In one sentence you talk about "permanent long term holdings" and then a little later you talk about how "the submission would more than pay for itself."
It is just a way for me to mentally justify the math on the cost vs. me being able to dump that into acquiring other comics. I am on a fixed budget so how I allocate funds over time really matters.
-
So I have a boat load of mid/late BA 9.6 slabs that I paid between $20-$30 each for with older holders (4+ years.) These are permanent long term holdings for me personally. I really like the latest gen CGC slab holders and definitely will be sending them in to be re-holdered. However part of me is curious; was kicking around the idea of having them cracked, pressed, and submitted from scratch. The added cost is not terrible to do this and if I could get a bump to 9.8 on just 25%-33% of the submission would more than pay for itself. Any of you with experience doing this feel to add comments. Thanks.

Hope you paid a lot!
Think there is only a handful of these. Anything under $1K is a great price for this one.

5 stars for this seller. The thing I like best about Mark is that he will list on eBay less liquid older slabs (i.e. DC Bats) in a bidding style auction. Most sellers will list these with uber inflated BIN's and sit on the listing for a year. I would give him highest recommendation possible.
-
Absolutely great to deal with. Would definitely do business with again. Super communication. Thanks.
-
Due to the packaging/oversized nature of these from a value perspective it often makes sense to grab a few at a time. I sell the BCW ones that are heavy duty/thick for only $3.99 each. But the shipping is where the majority of cost comes into play. The plastic ones newshane pointed to are interesting as well. How do you make out on shipping cost with those and/or how many do you buy in a single transaction.

would be best if it were in my description then.
If seller is any kind of corp structure, sales tax should be disclosed or seller needs to have a cert/license to collect sales tax within same state. Here are some rules for your particular state:

F/F is same as a cash transaction. Hence no CC backup either.

I was fortunate enough to see SW IV in the movie theatre as a kid. Unfortunately I fell asleep and missed the last 30 minutes of the movie. You think someone would have woken me up. Fast forward to last night. FINALLY sat down to watch SW VII for the first time in order to catch VIII tonight. Made it to the 46 minute mark and next thing you know.....I woke up to see the rolling end credits
