Nope, that's not it (although it's similar).  It's this one:

    https://comics.ha.com/itm/silver-age-1956-1969-/fantastic-four-1-marvel-1961-cgc-vg-35-off-white-pages/a/121212-14210.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515

It was in a CGC case graded at 3.5 and sold for $3100.  Now someone has now switched it to a Voldemort and now it's suddenly a 5.0 voldy on ebay being sold for $25,000.  Unbelievable!  Another reason to stay away from Voldemort.

I wonder why Volde slabbing was never in favour...

I'm a huge Corben fan. I bought Vic and Blood at the time specifically because it was a Corben + Ellison combination, so I was hoping you'd be the one to point me in the direction of something maybe a bit obscure that I'd missed. Couldn't find anything by Googling.

Corben is the friggin Michelangelo of horror and the grotesque ....

I looked through and I theres no Ellison collaboration apart from VaB...

Vic And Blood? A.k.a. 'A Boy and his Dog'?   Did he do more stories with Corben?  Worked very well together in that particular story's post-apocalyptic setting.

Also, two of the best and most memorable Outer Limits episodes written by him; 'Soldier' and 'Demon With a Glass Hand'.   Very influential, of course.

I'll be honest and say that I've never read any of his prose work.  Should've.

    Sad news.

Was vic and blood all they did together? I always thought it was more. Maybe due to Harlan prefacing some Corben stuff.

Corben has illustrated many short stories. Some of that maybe HE ? Help me out here ...

Agreed. But at least it had it's own thread.

The Tec27 mod. restored hit close to a quarter mil ( remember when $317K was the record not too long ago for ANY comic) and if I'm not typing it here now, wouldn't get one mention in the GA section at all. It's really unbelievable to me how things have changed in a decade .........kinda  sad really

but price-wise for restored mega keys, woo hoo!!!!

Yes we are seeing a compression pricewise in the buttom lower grade segment of key GA so restored mega grails are soaring. The recent tec 27 ext 4.5 for 180K comes to mind.

Just wanted to add given this slab sold in old blue label with rusty staples notation @ $1.5M in 2010, I am revising my price target on this auction to $2.8M+  If you go back to that time period and look at GA/SA keys vs. multiples where they are trading now a 2 bagger is not that far fetched. Depending on grade, key, etc. many slabs today are trading at 20% ROR range vs same starting point/time frame 8 years ago.

Look at time line of Cages 9.0 AC1 slab that sold in 2011. A mere 3 years later, Pristine's 9.0 fetches $1M more. Clearly this 8.5 presents incredibly well overall. Its just a matter of the staple issue being a deal breaker or not for a particular heavy bidder.

Bottom line this comic sold for $1.5M eight years ago. Its not going to fetch anywhere near this range present day.

Since 2010 many of the big GA keys have more likely trippled ...

It will be interesting to see if Hariri's absence from the bidding has any impact on the market for this book.  It's sitting below the Overstreet value right now, but way above its last selling price.  And, the two subsequent sales which boosted the value of the book were both to Hariri.  So his absence may well be felt.

Not if another hotshot decides he wants in.

This is an example of a comic that you REALLY need a detailed disclosure of every little thing that was done to it to make an intelligent bid.  Maybe disclosure of the restorer would help.

It's a gorgeous book.  I'm guessing it was gorgeous before the resto too.

Book could easily have been 8.0ish pre restoe. But will probably end up selling for max. 5.0 money in that range, due to the intransparency. And bidders being scared sheittless.

Ive always liked slight (P) books. They are generally really good value for your money. But thats just me.

Flippers will shy away. Collectors will love it.

Not sure about the iron and board theory, but I am quite sure that Danny Boy went low tech when it came to trimming his books.

Instead of using something like a laser guided micro-trimmer, it clearly looked like he went cheap and simply used a garden hedge cutter to macro-trimmed away the rough edges of his books.   lol

    Holy Sheiit ...
