Board members have always embraced change with open arms. Like the new labels with "big numbers" and no alpha grade...what a great idea everyone thought that was! :acclaim:

    Sarcasm dripping off this post.

sad that the boards when the opportunity came didnt support the stigma emancipation of restored books.

My 2c is that the market could tell that this 1.5 was formerly a restored copy with color touch that has since been scraped away along the spine and valued it as such.

Interesting. What was the restored grade?

    mod 4.0 ?

Are the modern storylines any good for Eternals?  I get the movie hype and all but if there isn't a good modern story line then it's all based on how well the movie does.  Do the Eternals really have that much better potential than Nova or Ms Marvel?  Star Wars even?

This feels just like Deadpool and Harleyquinn when they started going gangbusters but at least with those two there was some backing on the modern comic front.  Regardless of how you feel about the Kirby issues, I'm just not sure where the following is.

Then again, Black Panther hit it out of the park.

Gaiman had a great Eternals run ...

I had a great time for my first visit to C2E2.  Got to hang with Richard, Leroy, Gator, (Jay)Zolnerowich, Dom(uhnator), Dan(raze), and a few others who are regulars on here.  Really fun to put some faces to names.  And picked up a lot of great books.  Was able to fill a few holes in my Planet and Rangers runs from Richard (thanks again!).    Also a great Showcase 17 from Leroy and a Fight 1 from Harley.  And getting to see Metropolis and New Force's displays of incredible books was truly a treat.  I'm in for next year!

Yes, the Death Wish of Terrible Turpin was certainly a mature concept to me when I read it as a little kid. Great hyperbole by Kirby/Evanier with save "The Pact" for your grand-children. Kirby's Fourth World vs Eternals/Celestials movies in the future:

    So cool

Kirby obiously knew what he had his hands on !

There are millions of reasons why the auction houses prefer not to identify their consignors. One could be that there are more items in the estate that could possibly be auctioned in the future. Another possibility is that the auction house doesn't want to deal with nosey competitors or bidders trying to influence the family to withdraw lots before the auction takes place. My personal favorite theory is that the auctioneers get a kick out of watching goofballs make wild and unsubstantiated claims and guesses about the consignor, the collection, and possible final results on internet chatboards. But that is just my theory and I couldn't imagine it having any basis in reality.

Stop hyperventilating. I think you got your sarcasm across....

For what it's worth people chase the Don & Maggie books (to the extent that they do) because they're a designated pedigree collection and not just a collection. I own a number of them and they're nice books. They're not a top tier Silver Age pedigree in terms of freshness and eye appeal, but they're just a step below that so they're worth chasing.

The best Ive seen ever is probably the Curator books. They are Unreal.

    +1

After seeing a totally washed out almost colorless cover like this as compared to some of the covers with eye-popping colors that almost appear like they are dripping off the page, it makes me wonder why CGC doesn't really factor in color saturation when coming up with their final grade determination. :screwy:

Yes, although this copy might grade out to a VG 4.0 from a strict CGC technical point of view only, the loss of color sure makes it appear to be much less than a VG 4.0 from a visual point of view.  Especially when I am quite sure this loss of color was not due to the production process.  :p

A 4.0 that bleached counts as a 1.0 in my book...
