  1. The admission fees are one thing keeping me away. $25-$35 if you only want to go in and browse one day? And then if it's downtown, there may be paid parking...Forget that. I wish there was a happy medium between the 10x10 (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating) sized Sunday-only shows with 5 dealers and the overpriced mega shows.
  2. CGC's Handling of Classic Comics/ Classics Illustrated I have a Classic Comics Hunchback (issue 18) book in a CGC slab, HRN 22, which I understand makes it a reprint and not an original edition. Fair enough. What I was wondering about is the year CGC puts on the slab; do they use the month/year of the reprint or the month/year of the original edition? Mine says '10/44.' This listing, at least, mentions March '44. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Classic-Comics-18-The-Hunchback-Of-Notre-Dame-March-1944-1st-Print-/272488385776 May be right or wrong, I don't know. Did they do more than one printing of a book in a year? I've looked at explanations of the whole HRN thing, and got a pretty nasty headache. Perhaps you have one now, too. Anyway, was curious if someone would have an idea.
  3. Don't mean to sound stupid (although I will), but do you need to crack the slab or just send it sealed to CGC? Always just sent raw books. I was thinking of sending a book from the Forbidden Grader, not PGX though... guess it'd work the same... edit-already answered. Ugh.
  4. Is There an Official (or at Least semi- or quasi- official) 'Is This Seller Good' Thread? Let's see if the whole title fits in the box. Anyway, was curious if such a section/thread existed within the confines of our known universe. Or at least on these forums. Have questions on occasion, but hate to be a pest and make a new one for each seller. Don't shoot, I'm new! Not to comics, but here at least... Incidentally, has anyone here had dealings with ebay's own wishing21 or norneckbay? --space reserved for excess rambling--
  5. A pity. Those books (and a few hundred thousand circa 1991 superhydrodiamondsilvergoldshiny cover books) could have fueled mankind's first ship to reach the stars. Greed, tsk tsk.
  6. Marvel Squarebound Books- MSH 12 et al Apologies in advance for what may be a dumb question. I have a couple copies of Marvel Super-Heroes 12; they are of course square-bound on the outside, but flipping through I noticed they're stapled on the inside. Has anyone else seen this? Was that the general practice with square-bound anthologies, annuals and such? Need to drag out some stuff and take a closer look. Incidentally, I did have a third copy that had had staples removed from the front, obviously undoing a crude attempt at holding the book together. Anyway, thanks.
  7. I can't help but wonder what's going to happen when (assuming there's a 'when;' there generally is in life) the masses get bored with the comic movies and shows. But then again, I guess it isn't the masses who are doing the heavy comic collecting.
  8. Hi shad, thanks. I'm fairly close to Kansas City.
  9. Can't decide where to put this. Not sure if Marketplace, as I'm not trying to sell (directly). Anyone have any ideas on where to consign books that fall below the 'bigshot consignment house' tier or the 'minimum $100' tier, but aren't junk either? I don't want to deal with ebay stress...checking them over, worrying about tampering, shipping, pics on and on. And at the same time honest folks that won't puff the books up dishonestly. They're not worth subbing due to condition either. Bronze minor keys, a couple of MP 15s, PM & IF 48 and 50, Doc Strange 1, Cap 117, Marvel Super Heroes 12 & 18 {ok. that's Silver, sue me} etc etc. Maybe I should have called myself Bronze Ager instead. Perhaps I'm asking for the moon and am being unreasonable. Anyway, if I've committed some terrible transgression by posting this in this section, you may shoot me. Thanks in advance.
