  1. Because I couldn't find anything about a 9.8 selling in the 400s in current or past sales so i don't know where he was seeing that. There was a 9.8 sale in november for $180. who knows what a 9.8 goes for now as they don't come up much, although a 9.6 sitting there at $44 makes me think it would be more around the november sale price
  2. It popped for a minute due to deadpool. Nighthrasher, Sleepwalker, Slapstick, Terror Inc, and Speedball had a series for a minute too.
  3. Marvel Age went from 25 cents to $1 in like 8 years. That's impressive inflation! It was a toss in purchase with your spare change at first (yes, I bought it at the beginning .. same price as a game of Frogger, why not?), but eventually got to be the same price as a regular comic.
  4. If it was a $1 or less Spiderman book from the 80s I bought it if I saw it if I had the money.
  5. Annual 16 is the only one that counts. The one I probably have 10 of. And then her solo one shot and then when she joins the Avengers. I have a bunch of those too. And when she becomes a viking god in Thor 339, that's a big key too.
  6. Have been organizing my magazines, culling for undercopies, doubles, triples, etc. and came across this (OK, this pic is off ebay, but i have the same magazine in roughly the same shape), not huge money (SI prices are ALL OVER the place on a given issue), but cool (Bird's first SI cover), and a couple of other SIs that actually sell. And some cool comic magazines. I have a lot more Skywalds and such than I thought i did. But no Marvel Special 16.
  7. My comic shop is incorrectly listing the Treasury as being a reprint of MSS16: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-Special-Edition-Star-Wars-Empire-Strikes-Back-Treasury-2-VG-FN-5-0-1980/363230762355?hash=item54923d9573:g:jzwAAOSwxatf4khv
  8. I am surprised Vampi 3 is supposed to be hard to find. For years the magazines had ads in them to buy back issues. I was just looking at Vampi 30something and there was an ad, you could buy # 1 for $4.00 I believe and #2 and #3 for $3? As well as everything else. But maybe when you ordered #3 they'd tell you they were out of stock? There are about as many of 2 as 3 for sale right now. But I guess the Bode cover created a lot of cross over appeal.
  9. OK, this is what I was asking/wondering, it does seem like there are people with a genuine fondness for the book. Now, whether those people are actually buying copies on ebay rather than already owning 10 copies is a whole other issue.
  10. I don't see that? A CGC 9.6 can be had for $44 https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=ronin+3+cgc&_sacat=0&_sop=16&rt=nc https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=ronin+3+cgc&_sacat=0&_sop=16&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1
  11. Oh criminey, I had been stockpiling issue #1 thinking it was his first app when it is, in fact, the Superbowl Special. Dreams of retirement crushed even when they make the SUperPro movie...
  12. I'll take your word for it. I can't speak to CGC 9.8s, but I don't think the 200 or so ebay raw sales a month in the $15-$30 range are purely the result of people getting the wool pulled over their eyes. As for SuperPro. My understanding is that he will be the next Captain America. I will be laughing all the way to the bank thank you very much.
  13. I really have no idea. I didn't read it when it was getting published. It does seem like some people here acted like they read and enjoyed the title back in the day and were nostalgic about it. Yes, they got more nostalgic when #1 became worth something, no doubt.
  14. The Deadpool card one does sell: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=x-force+1+deadpool+card&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1
  15. I should read some of my darkharks. Sounds like there is a cult following. The premise sounds stupid ("found" amulet), but I assume they figured out how to make it work?
  16. They are cousins. This Sanders meme is everywhere with him sitting in the background in every scenario. Dunno this artist.
  17. psychologically i like seeing the CB logo on there. It's a bit different and that "i" for image brings up so many bad memories of terrible comics from that era
  18. I probably ignored the image books printed then in favor of the later CB books
  19. Nothing new, but maybe a good thing I never bothered selling my copies the first time this book perked up: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=spiderman+annual+monica&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1 If they can just figure out how to get Rocket Racer wielding Storm Breaker in the next Marvel Movie i may be able to retire between my copies of ASM 172 and Thor 339.
  20. Weren't there some astronauts in the group to get them up there? But i disagree with your premise, no way they'd be able to teach astronauts the nuances of this stuff in time.
  21. is bruce willis standing on a box? because he's not remotely affleck's height.
  22. I have too much stuff accumulated over the years to hang on to stuff when it heats up. I'd like to retire within the next 10 years (probably a pipedream). And I have two kids (one of whom is less than 3 years from college/plumber's school), an ancient furnace that could die at any moment, and a roof that needs repairs. It's all about $ at the end of the day. There are no permanent additions to my collection. If I can turn a stack of Bone comics into something I like even more (and pay some bills too), that's where we go.
  23. I'll buy the deadpool card one if they look to be in good shape and $1 or less. Not sure why I keep on doing that.
