  1. Nobody went out this weekend? I jumped out of the car to take a 3 minute look at some comics a guy was selling on the street. Picked these up. The Batman 567 and 570 are newsstands as is shadow of the bat 81. I may need to see if he is out next weekend if I decide more newsies of that era are worth getting at $1 each.
  2. I was suggesting that it would have been good p.r./goodwill to throw a couple of bucks at a dying Dave cockrum, struggling herb Trimp etc. As "consultants" given they helped create half the current x-men franchise. But you're right, I doubt folks boycotted any of these movies over these issues so how does it help their bottom line?
  3. Divad sales are usually outliers. No doubt someone looking for a 9.8 raw or otherwise will shell out, but now there is $ in less than perfect stuff.
  4. We are all investors here to the extent we don't plan on burning our comics or getting buried with them. To answer your question.. Thor 339.
  5. Kenmore is near buffalo. Only like an 8 hour drive to NYC.
  6. Red Sonja will likely not have 15 year old boys in it so it will be fine.
  7. I think this being worth so.ething is new. I buy the black cat stuff anyway, but now I am annoyed. I just went through 5 spider boxes pulling asm 212s...
  8. criminey, i hope i bothered to bag and board my copies of this... https://www.ebay.com/itm/PETER-PARKER-SPECTACULAR-SPIDER-MAN-90-MAY-1984-BLACK-CAT-1ST-BLACK-SUIT/202568915110?hash=item2f2a0c58a6:g:uPcAAOSwtpJcQL0A
  9. Don't expect people here to be clueless as to value. I see people posting books for $50 on Facebook that are $4 on ebay and I see a little of that to a lesser extent here...it usually results in a lot of time put into a thread and no sales. The folks here might be one of the saviest groups of comic dorks around. Not necessarily cheapskates, but they tend to know what stuff is worth.
  10. He is not selling right now, but I Just looked at his feedback and the account is active. I don't think this guy is a habitual criminal, but not owning up to a $50 mistake is not ethical, so who knows about other stuff
  11. Well, the pics show a low grade book, but the description does not rule out clipped coupons, etc. He told me there were none, etc. We had a nice chit chat...he declined my offer of 75% of the asking price though despite my charms.
  12. The newsstand is not that much more expensive, particularly if it has a spine tick or three. What is the deal with people claiming these newsstands are "1:100 variants"? What a load of bull.
  13. Sorry, a key is a key regardless of it's variation. It's what's inside that counts! (At least for status, not value)
  14. Agree on Spawn 1. Particularly as I own 20 NM copies. And Thor 339, of course.
  15. OK, I just had a weird interaction with a seller on a book that seems reasonably priced... The listing says: “We make every effort to accurately describe all items, however, all items are sold "as is" with absolutely no returns. It is the buyer's responsibility to determine the exact condition of each item. We do not make any guarantees or warranties in regard to the descriptions of the physical condition, size, quality, or rarity. Prospective buyers should ask all questions to determine an item's condition, size and whether or not it has been restored. For comics, we use descriptive grades (e.g. Fair, Good, Very Good, Fine, Very Fine, Near Mint) merely as a guide to assist. However, we provide very large scans and expect customers to use the images and ask questions to arrive at their own purchase/condition decisions. We never guarantee any grade nor do we provide numerical grades.” Understanding these instruction, I send a message: "Are there any clipped coupons, missing pages, detached pages, or water stains? Is the cover attached to the book at both staples? Is there any writing on the inside of the book?" (These are my pet peeves...criminey, I forgot about rusty staples or resto, but there's no way the book is restored) This is the odd response: "Hi, Thanks for the interest. It has none of those things. It is a, however, a $30 well read book. The pages aren't "tight" and there's plenty of creases, and wrinkling, aging, and edge chipping. It's best to pass on it as we don't wish to deal with a return on it." SO, I do what they guy tells me to do in terms of making inquiries, and then he tells me it is best not to buy it because he doesn't want to deal with me. I am still tempted to buy it, but I thought that was a weird response. UPDATE: His next response was very polite. I think he realized he assumed too much. He is a shell shocked seller who has gotten burned a bit by silly returns.
  16. otisthorpe33 - damaged $50 book while opening packaging, claimed ignorance, and then demanded full refund.. has not responded to my message calling him out on this. of course ebay automatically takes his side as I do not have a written confession from him. kharma is going to bite you dude, you sell some good books, someone will F one of them up and then demand a refund. What goes around comes around.
  17. 48-51 are everywhere too, but they sell nicely, particularly as a set
  18. Apparently, Wolverine's healing factor does not work on mouth cancer. All those years of chewing tobacco and cigar chomping have caught up to him and he had a chunk of his mouth removed. With that said, Liefield's feet look better. As for whether this is terrible, I don't think it is fair to hold him to such a high standard. He's just as not terrible, but not very good, as a lot of folks drawing comics for the Big 2 or 3.
  19. Nope. Someone must have reported me. I used my last name twice. They gave me grief. I told them I work in law enforcement and would like to limit my exposure. They did not care. So I use my initials (except I added a middle initial I don't have)
  20. I am not thrilled it has my name. I have tried using a spin on my name and FB made me change it.
  21. When 20 others have them at $3-4 it is silly. They aren't claimed to be 9.9s or anything.
  22. Needless to say, at a total cost of $5-$9 after shipping on ebay I am not going there. I'll buy them in the cheap boxes in the wild, but I buy GLs around that era anyway from the cheap-o box.
