  1. Sure, when CGC stars putting it on the label maybe they will care. If the book had been recalled or banned in Wyoming (all 3 copies getting pulled off the shelves), then they might care.
  2. Or some of this... In January a 9.6 of this book sold on ebay today for $55, a 9.4 at $33, a 9.6 at $50, a 9.4 at $50 , a 9.6 at $66, a 9.6 at $49...And this guy is asking $85 + $7 s/h for a raw VF copy? I know this is within the real of sanity (only 3-4X FMV), but my FB feed is full of notifications for this kind of silliness. I need to turn it off and just visit these groups now and then. Buy/Sell/Trade "Moon Knight number 1 Premiere issue $85 Kansas City, MO Moon Knight number 1 premier issue, this comic is in very fine condition please see photos shipping and additional $7 must have PayPal account and pay at time of agreement of sale, $85 or best offer"
  3. Someone is trying to get a $20 a pop for them (not the DC universe ones, of which there seem to be plenty too) on ebay (and not succeeding), but everyone else is at $2 or $3. While it is an issue that has gone well outside the comics scene, seems like a topic Fanboys aren't going to throw their money at given that they probably think it is a dumb issue and feminists aren't out their collecting the book to get pissed off at it. If the book was truly offensive with the fridge and an arm sticking out on the cover, then it might have a shot at living in infamy and being a $20 book.
  4. I find FB very disorienting. I can't find old posts, etc. I will probably give it a shot I suppose. I tried to buy some books from someone minutes after they listed, but someone had supposedly messaged them first. The phone photos and vague grading (where folks want top top dollar for vaguely graded and poorly photographed books) is a turn off, but I suppose you get that on ebay too.
  5. Even in kill bill uma was arguably just as much seeking revenge for what was done to her vs. Her husband. And getting her kid.
  6. In 1999 gail Simone made a lot of stink about the woman in the fridge trope and it became a discussed issue, so years after gl 54. Ironically, deadpool 2 was attacked for that. The idea, I think, is folks being irritated that the murder/rape/torture of women is used as a plot motivation device for male characters, as if what matters most is how this impacts the guy. Obviously they switch genders now and then, but it is usually the upset guy and dead woman.
  7. Is DC stupid? Seriously, not the venue for that story. The purpose of these books at Sal.art is disposable entertainment for kids, not a psychological journey for 40 year old men. Sell those in a comic shop with a for mature audiences label. They have probably killed the Wal-Mart deal now.
  8. I tried to scan the bag but you can't see it. Frustrating.
  9. Well, it looks like I may use up that case this year. Have made about 50 shipments in the last month and used up a roll. I used to do a lot of packing using office tape at work after 5 pm, but my new office has glass walls and no privacy, so that is over. I am paranoid even examining my lunchtime dollar box hauls in the event a supervisor sees me.
  10. I don't know. This is an experienced comic seller who has good stuff, he should know better. As an aside, while I like the gemini mailers, the space for the comics is tight so your sandwich (you still need to sandwich, unfortunately) leaves no room on the edges, so the comic is very close to the edge. The pads for the sandwich they sell are very tight, 7 x 11. I cut my own, usually 7.25 X 11.25. But now I need to rewrite all my listings and add warning language apparently because people are dumb. (This guy lives 40 minutes from me in Jersey)
  11. well, i opposed the request, I am sure ebay will skrew me over. this guy clearly thought i am an insufficiently_thoughtful_person or just didn't care. he sent it back in the same bag he sliced through.
  12. I bought a case from uline about 17 years ago. I am about half way through. Works well if you keep it on the dispenser. Is a nightmare if you lose the "end" of the tape and are trying to find it.
  13. Here is my proposed message to him. And dude, if you're a member here, feel free to chime in, and tell me how you didn't wreck the book yourself: I just got to my mail and looked at the book. I assume you cut the tape on the cardboard sandwhich open with a box cutter or scissor and it went through the bag and tore up the book, there is clearly a slice in the bag right above where the damage is and no damage to the gemini mailer and there was no rip when I shipped. I have shipped thousands of comics in sandwhichs like this and have never been told a book got damaged while opening them, but it is certainly possible as I have damaged bags (but not books, thankfully) opening them. While I understand your frustration with damaging a book while unpacking it, is it fair for me to eat the whole cost here? You sell a bunch of nice books, how would you feel if someone wrecked a nice book while unpacking it and then blamed you and demanded a return and refund?
  14. Question is, do I just contest the return with ebay and explain what clearly happened or confront the buyer? As a seller of pretty decent comics he should be afraid of karma biting him in the rear here. I don't think he is a habitual scammer, he just wants me to pay for his mistake. If you slice through a bag while opening a cardboard sandwich you know you've done it.
  15. I am very frustrated dealing with a return now that I finally have it in hand. Anyway, there is a slit in the bag right above where the damage is. What obviously happened is that when the buyer was disassembling the sanwhich he sliced the bag and comic with his box cutter or whatever and wrecked the book (a $50 frigging book). He claims ignorance as to how this occurred. It is so obvious given the slice in the bag and no corresponding damage to the gemini mailer. Ebay isn't going to do squat for me and I'm out $50 I take it? Personal responsibility folks. You wreck a book when you are unpacking it, don't blame the seller. Anyway, here is the scan of the back cover right before it was shipped: And here is the returned item:
  16. I got over $75 for a 5.0 type copy (albeit a pressable one).
  17. Aren't bottle deposits like 10 cents in Michigan? You can make a fortune going through your neighbors' garbage!
  18. Yes, me too. I have sold a couple over the years for $15 or so. I found another Eternals 1 I missed! I have sold 5 in the last few weeks.
  19. Is it that it is hard in 9.8? At the shop where I bought 20 or 30 of them none looked like they coukd be 9.8s and 9.6 was pushing it. There were a lot of these in my parts and it did not initially sell on par with expectations.
  20. Thanks. My guess is that the rip on the back cover was caused by him somehow getting the book in or out of the bag or something and now I have to pay for it, because the book was clean when I scanned it. Don't have it in hand yet to make sure it is the same book. He sells good stuff on ebay, is probably a board member for all I know, so I don't think it is an outright scam.
  21. Diabetic retinopathy. He is going blind. 64 years old. Life can be cruel.
