  1. this is exactly why I don't have any animals. man I don't even know what I would do. such a loss.
  2. while not my comic book room as all my comics are just boxed and in a closet but I figured id show my toy collection on here. hey it at least has a lot of comic oriented stuff in it. anyone here you go. I have four aisles built. so this is about half of my stuff, ran out of room long ago. not sure what ill do with my comics either as those are starting to pile up as well.
  3. honestly their grading is extremely inaccurate. I have purchase a lot of 6.0 run filler books from them. almost none of the books are actually 6.0. I have gotten quite a few bargains and the books are easily 8.0. on the flip side I have also received 4.0 books and the person grading it a 6.0 had to be blind. in the end it about evens out and like I said they are run fillers so I don't care too much. but to say they are accurate graders would be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. 90% of my books ive purchased are not graded accurately. you just have to hope it works in your favor more than it doesn't.
  4. bags and boards are so cheap I def expect all books to be done. and really if the cheap sellers would just save their yellowed bags and boards id rather they just reuse those instead of using nothing so at least the book is protected and I can use a new bag and board when I get it. but maybe these people are so cheap they use the yellowed bags for their personal collection.
  5. I always organize them by title if its part of a run. for example I have every McFarlane book and have a nice run of spiderman. his amazing spidey books are with the spidey run. his one off books like daring escapes, coyote, manifest destiny, gi joe, etc are all in a McFarlane box and in alphabetical order. so basically if its part of a run put with the run. if its a one off put with the artist.
  6. I have never been charged tax when paying cash regardless of the dollar amount. lets face it dealers work like waitresses where 90% of income isn't reported. credit card transactions almost always get tax added on as these charges are traceable and always reported for taxes. so if they don't charge tax they will end up eating it out of the sale price themselves.
  7. heres my favorite scenario I have had happen a few times. people ask how much are my 100 comics worth? I reply 99% of comics are worthless and should just be scrapped so most likely they aren't worth the garbage bag they will take up. the classic part is they still somehow think that all 100 books they have are still part of the 1% of books worth money and still want me to look at them. after doing so I confirm and say yup these are all junk. then they get angry at me and think im just jealous of their gold. now I just say whatever you think they are worth and they get the hint.
  8. while the renumbering is annoying and pointless in my opinion its not going to make me either stop buying a book or start buying a book. I never buy a book just because a #1 is on a cover. I learned to stop that when I was 10 years old in 1992. on the other hand I love spiderman, im not going to stop buying amazing spiderman just because its a new #1. what do I care if its issue 805 or issue 1, it would end up being the same story in the inside and im still getting what I like. sure its annoying because its a little confusing at times to know what number goes to what volume but that's what the internet is for, to look such things up. if anything I may drop a couple books because its a natural stopping point but that is books that im not very fond of at the moment. but even then I normally jump off after an anniversary issue anyways. not really sure how this helps marvel.
  9. I don't see this as being a problem at all. ive had some that were so taped up I just ended up cutting them out of the bag and board with an exacto knife and the book came out much easier than trying to remove tape and risk bending the book. heck if I cant afford the new bag and board to put it into I shouldn't be buying the book in the first place. nothing worse than having a crappy packaging job with a floppy book sliding all over the place.
  10. I just posted this in the other MCS thread before seeing this one and this is more appropriate here so will repost. for those saying mcs has accurate grading I have just never seen that on any of my dozens of orders I get through them. im fairly happy with them but the grading is far from accurate. I typically order 6.0 in older books and they seldom come in the grade listed. while some of them are spot on some are also as high as 8.5 and some are clearly as low as 4.0. I hit as many as I miss when I order with them so in the end I break about even so I don't fuss too much. but to say they are accurate is just not true. and its not like they just under-grade because like I said every order I get I have books also severely over-graded. and they don't offer a credit on the over-graded books even with proof of pictures. they make you return them which in most cases isn't even worth the price and hassle of shipping. but in the end id say if order 10 books 2 might be the actual grade, 4 or 5 will be under-graded and 3 or 4 will be over-graded. and this is based on numerous orders.

  12. I have just over 15k comics and have everything organized alphabetically or by run. basically just make a pile of each alphabetical letter. once you have that done start alphabetizing that particular letter to get them in order. if you end up with a full box of one particular book put them into their own run box. for example sort into 26 piles A to Z. start sorting A, realize I have two short boxes of avengers put them into their own run box. anything less than a short box full goes into the alphabetized section. doing this I can find any book I have out of the 15K within two minutes.
  13. I collect a lot of runs such as Spiderman, Iron Man, Cap, Avengers, Batman, Xmen, Wonder Woman, and more. but only actual character appearance I worry about is Spawn. I have every single appearance ever. for the most part its been pretty easy to keep up with though. I also have every single figure they made to.
  14. I thought it may just be a local artist but never know. I still think its a cool find for a buck so im happy. thanks for the replies
  15. I keep track of my books and I still somehow buy doubles. I can remember the keys I have as that's easy but often times wasted money on books I didn't need.
  16. I got this today at 2nd and charles for a buck. Art is cool regardless and well worth the price but id still like to know who drew it if possible. Any idea.
  17. going along the lines of the topic. why do I have an easier time pulling $50 and $100 books out of dollar bins by the multiples and by the triples then I do finding a book I actually need for my run that is only worth $3. granted its a good problem to have I just find it extremely weird. wish I could just find both types of books
  18. I found $20 bucks in a book and also a sheet of forever stamps. in both cases it was worth more than the actual book so was a nice surprise. makes me wonder though, I don't go through half the books I buy, who knows what could be in there.
  19. no, not what I mean, that has the entire box cut off. these books have maybe an 1/8th of an inch cut diagonally or in a triangle shape just clipping off the upper left hand corner. I have seen these at numerous shows from different vendors so not like they did it themselves. I cant find a picture online but I doctored the one posted. the blue triangle piece I painted is the only thing missing, rest of box in in tact.
  20. I noticed some books from late 70's perhaps early 80's where the book is in perfect condition but the top left hand corner of the book is missing. its a perfectly made cut diagonally taking the corner of the book off. can anyone explain why this occurred. Im guessing it may have been old surplus books that were shipped back to marvel and resold at discount and that was their way or marking them but im not sure. I seen this on several different marvel books but never took notice to this on DC books, perhaps they never did this. Anyway just hoping someone can tell me exactly what these are. Also does this affect grade and if so by how much? lets say the books is perfect otherwise what would the highest grade be that it can get?
  21. so im wondering who is packing these comics because I don't think they are coming from either marvel or dc. reason being I found a Lobo book in the star wars marvel pack I bought. and the packaging was clearly never opened or tampered with and was not rewrapped in anyway. looked exactly the same as the 5 other packs purchased.
  22. I tend to focus on the filler books first because they are cheap and usually take several shows to get the run anyway. so might as well start right away to give yourself multiple opportunities to find the books. keys are pretty much always at every show, not everyone always brings the same drek. plus I don't know how many times I have found the "keys" along with the fillers for the same price in the same box and saved a ton of money. If I was just buying off the wall I would have been really mad. I don't find the keys go up in value all that much from year to year anyway. sure over several years they do but I typically have a run done by then and on to the next one. just as great a chance a filler catches fire and you have to over pay for something that would have cost a buck a year back anyways. just as great a chance that $1 book becomes $50 as that $50 becoming $100 in todays movie spec world.
  23. this was the first year in about 15 years I didn't attend WW Philly. Two years ago I swore I would never go back but last year I had that itch and still attended. I figured things couldn't get worse, they had to improve, man was I wrong. it was the biggest waste of my time and money. This year I stuck to my guns and refused to attend even though my buddy bugged me to go with him. Like others said, why pay gas, parking, and $70 admission when I can go to a local show and spend $5 to get in and have nothing but comic dealers instead of advertisers and not have to deal with insane lines and people in the way. The philly show by the airport is $4 and has fantastic dealers there. I get some great books at some great prices. and the first $100 I spend there which will get me 100 readers or 5 really solid books and they are essentially free if I attended wizard world and factored in admission. glad I didn't go and cant see myself ever really going back unless they have an actor I just can refuse. but in that case it does no good for dealers as ill just see the actor and leave. paying money to shop when I need the money to shop in the first place just doesn't make sense to me. paying money to be bombarded by companies shoving flyers in my face makes even less sense so I don't see the appeal on why anyone goes anymore. I wish I had a video of the first philly show I went to to compare it, it wouldn't even be considered the same show.
  24. comic only appearances are all that count. preview books or an ad in another comic do not equal a first appearance. basically like they say a sucker is born every minute and dealers know it so they will try to hype anything up.
  25. Wow. I need that star wars book. I found the others today but no trace of that one. the books inside have been pretty much junk but did pull an enchanted tiki room #3 1:10 variant. But not like anyone cares about those books but still better than a true believers wolverine i got in the other
