I found my ASM Big Time newsie. I have 2 copies actually.
Cover is $7.99 on the newsstand edition vs $5.99 for direct; a full $2 over the direct edition!

I argue that too, kind of. Well, I consider it his 1st unnamed appearance. First full appearance is Venom 3, which I also own in all 4 prints. I like my symbiote stuff.

It’s hard for late modern newsies to heat up when you can’t find them. I own these Thors pictured but haven’t seen any others of these issues in any condition.
CGC didn’t break them out in Census, so we just don’t know.
in the case of Batman rebirth 24, CGC does break them out for the price variation, and it’s currently an overall 10 graded newsstand editions vs 466 direct.
6 9.8 newsstand editions vs 289 9.8 Direct editions. 1 of those 9.8’s is mine,

I’m afraid these books may be too scarce to heat up.
Food for thought: ASM700 seems to have a large supply of high grade newsies, makes sense considering it sold extremely well and was instantly popular.

I thought I had this in newsstand, then remembered mine is a 1shot collection of 648-650 using 648 cover art. It’s a newsstand and also a price variant I think, but I’ll have to check when I can.

If the thor's are newsstand price variants, then pm mdavis@cgccomics.com who is Mollie of the registry,  and point it out to her....
That way it will be set apart in the registry and reflect on the label...
My Batman #24 in 9.6 came back incorrectly labeled and I had it fixed, not through Mollie but through Brittany.....
There still isn't a spot in the registry for ASM #607 either, which I'm trying to get rectified, but the registry forum is backlogged due to con's at the moment....

These are the only moderns that I have, the 2 batman #24 I submitted on my own, the ASM #607 is the only one that I bought already graded

The Thor: God of Thunder books are not price variants in newsstand. All the 2011-13 marvel books I’ve considered that were $3.99 in direct edition were also $3.99 in newsstand. However, when the direct edition was $2.99, the newsstand was always $3.99, making a price variant.
Oversize issues typically show $1 higher price in newsstand.

I had the only 3 graded copies in the world.
Sold one on ebay for $450.00. Another one to a private collector for $425.00. Still have one left.
BTW, Direct Editions in 9.8 go for $42.00

No not crazy at all. So many comics we look at thru the slab and think it could / should be a grade either higher or lower. Sadly, it is what it is.
My personal opinion, absolutely do not pay to crack and resubmit.

    Greetings, Joosh
I was hunting for Spectacular Spider-Man as usual, and I ran across this post. I would like to add my two-cents. Your copy is beautiful! Cut and Centering is magnificent! I have actually been looking for a perfectly centered 9.8 WP+ Copy to go with my set (~slpfi27~ Spectacular Spider-Man #001-#263 + Annuals and Variants. Set Name: "Nuff Said..." Located on the CGC Census). I think your book is beautiful, and I would agree that the grading in this issue is very interesting!?! Its always subjective, and I would have to agree with you. it looks to be a solid 9.8 Candidate. Centering and cut may not be part of CGC's Criteria when grading, but it should be with this book. I think you would see 95% of the 9.8's become 9.6 if this were part of the criteria.
The Comics Logo is always cut off or super close to the edge, and the header bar and spine is always slanted and not squared. I know it is just "Spectacular Spider-Man #1" who cares... but when people do care the perfect chop and center will be the gold standard of this book.
I agree with the fellow board members that it probably isn't a great idea to resub just because of the investment cost you have in regrading. I think your book is a GEM and I would hold onto it, like you said when the value of this book shoots up someday you'll have a super star. I challenge anyone to find a already graded CGC 9.8 WP Candidate that is centered and cut  better than Joosh, because they aren't out there.
If you got the centering, you got the bad cut... and if you got the Cut, you got the bad centering. To have both solid cut and centering is damn near impossible. I know because I have been looking.

    Keep that puppy safe Joosh!

    Sincerely,
    Brian W

Very happy to find a beautiful, reasonably priced copy of MTU #1. Big thanks to Superworld! In the process, also got MTU #95. Only 28 issues to go to complete my MTU run. (Yes, I'm a completionist…) Good thing is all expensive issues are now in hand.
I trace my interest in MTU back to a Treasury Size Spiderman from the late 70's. The X-Men crossover (#4) reprinted in spiked my curiousity. But that was about it. I only bought a few issues back in the day. It was only when I started collecting again in 1994 that I focused a bit more by buying #4. Dabbled a bit and then won the Greggy Mystery Box which added almost 50 issues! And, there we have it. Excelsior!

    Venom sketch for fun.

I freely admit to being a hypocrite on this matter. I bad-mouth CGC for that stuff you mentioned (& not just thru the internet), but I continue to submit. One of the biggest reasons I continue to submit is the resale value. In all honesty, I would've left for the the other guys a long time ago, but the flipper in me won't allow it.
