Question is...when is the right time to sell this book? My copy is in ~6.0...maybe 7.0. I am not interested in holding forever.
-
Those tears really hurt this book. I'd say 5ish. No more though.
-
I would not be as hard on this one. I think after C&P...this book might make 8 or even 8.5. The only spine stress that would still be there is the one at the marvel banner. But as is...yeah...probably 7.0.
My two cents.

Hi...I just got a 9.8 back from CGC on this book, so, I am getting rid of this one on eBay. Dr. Strange #1 CGC 9.6. Cert #0789602014

Try this link...that one above didn't work. Eternals #1 CGC 9.6
-
I recently had a number of these graded. Just put this one on eBay last night. Eternals #1 in CGC 9.6 OW/W. I have multiples of this book in grades from 8.5 to 9.8. This one is just the first!
Thanks

Pressing would take care of the back spine...pretty sure. The major issue is the smudge. I wonder if that can be addressed at all with any dry cleaning?. I am going to guess at an 7.5-8.0
-
I would say a solid 6...maybe 6.5 but no higher. 5.5 seems too low.
-
I would argue that this would get a higher grade than 7.0 with a press and a little minor cleaning (which CCS will do). Those color break won't come out, but some of those flaws on the back cover will go away. I think 7.5 would not be a stretch after a visit to CCS.

For those who are willing to pay a premium for what someone decides is a 9.61 vs. a 9.62. Or a 7.6 vs. a 7.7.
Ridiculous...IMHO. Essentially this is putting comics on a 1000 point grading scale...

24 Hours At the SDCC 2018 - Part 4
This is my last pre-con report. At the moment I'm in SF for work, then I fly to SD on Wednesday for my 1 day at SDCC on Thursday.
They have a new restaurant in SF, Oren's Hummus, specializing in hummus. I've always liked hummus but since going to Israel earlier this year I've gotten a bit obsessed over it. In the middle east they treat hummus like a main course. We went to a restaurant in Jerusalem and the entirety of the menu was hummus, falafel, and french fries -- and at lunch there was a line out the door to get a table.
At Oren's, they make fresh hummus every day. In the last 12 hours I've already been there twice, for dinner last night and this morning for breakfast. Here's my dinner from last night, starting with a Grey Goose martini with blue cheese olives.
So back to SDCC. As a good development, my daughter will be coming with me. We thought she wasn't going to be able to come because of her summer job, but things worked out. She's a cosplayer and excited to go to SDCC for the first time.
But as the con nears, I'm already having second thoughts about going. I'm working on getting myself psyched up for the crowds, and what I expect will be high prices on comics. But if nothing else, it'll be interesting to go just to get first hand knowledge of where the con is in 2018 versus years past. And the Gaslamp neighborhood is always fun to spend time in.
I'll close this post by showing a couple of cool comics I've picked up recently:
Love the three olive martini! I'll need to check this restaurant out. I only went to SDCC once...it was fun, but it was in 2006 when things were starting to go toward pop culture and away from comics. Highlight was meeting Ray Harryhausen and getting his auto. Loved perusing this thread and seeing all your stuff. Great collection!

Never mind! Figured it out. I haven't been here since the boards were updated...

What did I miss?? My Heritage login just worked here?
It's been a while so I must have missed something. My computer autofilled my Heritage user and password when I just logged in. It seems to have worked. What the heck??

$34 for a brittle partial Flash #101 cover?
I am curious what people think this sale on here. I can't say I would have bought this cover...but maybe if you had a coverless copy, this is better than nothing.
Eternals #1 CGC 9.4 and CGC 8.5 OW/W

Picture located in weird location...need carriage return
Better pictures...my scanner produces really crappy images, so I am relegated to my phone...which is, well, ok. Lighting is tough. Someone should start a thread on shooting graded comics. I think you probably need a light box and a polarizer...but I digress.
