  1. I’m a wide-eyed eight year old again when I see these beautiful books. ASM issues 39 to 56 compose the indispensable run in my collection.
  2. I received those three issues as part of a subscription I had when I was eight years old. I cut out the puzzle pieces on issue 367 and glued them into place.
  3. “Write” as it pertains to the Marvel Method. Kane had no involvement at all with most of the stories his name appeared on.
  4. So you’re saying that Stan didn’t write all of the stories that carry his name?
  5. Depends on what you choose to believe. Kane’s story is documented fact. Stan’s doubters rely on opinion and hearsay more than anything else.
  6. I bit the bullet and bought both books in the last couple of years. Thankfully, I got relatively good deals on them. I also have Superman 127 and Detective 264 from that month. I would still like to get some of the others.
  7. The ASM 17-19 trilogy is a rarely mentioned classic.
  8. I was born in December 1958. A couple of notable books, Flash 105 and Batman 121, came out that month.
  9. Picked this one up today. Also posted in the Spidey thread.
  10. TTA 93 is a very hot book these days. The Surfer is soaring!
  11. ASM 1 is at the top of my list. I have the rest of Vol. 1 which goes up to #441. I do have a 9.0 GRR copy of #1 which keeps me fairly happy. It looks great in the slab.
  12. One of my favourite covers. It made quite an impression on my 8 year old self when I received it in the mail as part of my subscription.
  13. MT 11 came out in August 1967, the month I started collecting Marvel books. I bought it and all of the other issues in this post off the rack. I still think DD’s yellow costume is cool.
  14. It certainly is a beauty. The only thing missing is a little corner box showing Johnny walking to school.
  15. This was my first FF issue from when I started buying Marvel books in August of 1967. I need to upgrade this copy.
  16. I was very lucky to get this nice copy for a bargain basement price at the last pre-covid con.
  17. Full disclosure; I have a 4.5ish copy of FF 66 but this is my much prettier JC Penney second print.
