  1. *update/warning*

Apparently getting a sig on a Pedigree no longer qualifies it for a Pedigree. Just happened to someone in a FB group.

When did this go into effect?

It was a Suscha News Pedigree on an Avengers #93.

"That's the policy CGC informed me of today when I inquired why the pedigree didn't transfer over. CGC doesn't pedigree SS books."

I'm thinking issues of Age Of Bronze are going to start commanding premiums now that they’re exclusive to current subscribers

Ok besides ultra/super/hyper rare issues, that doesn't count.

There's allegedly half a million copies being made of WD193...even if it's exaggerated, this issue is going to be bagged/boarded asap, unlike either of those ya'll mentioned :P

I'm looking forward to seeing the refund he has to give back when his mint copy doesn't make the grade... lol

It's a square bound book, so plenty of these will end up 9.9s.

Has there ever really been a valuable end of series book? I'm not talking $20... at least $50+, or whatever these goofy speculators are paying for them.

  4. SO, back on topic :baiting:

    1. Exciting Comics #1 and it's variants are selling very well, it's Antarctic Press, so there's also a little built in demand also.

There's a new "universe" with this new book, and as always that holds the possibility for future movies/tv shows.

    2. Umbrella Academy premiered on Netflix the other day, and it's actually really good. Hype was not overblown, and people are really liking it. I thought it was pretty good myself.

Copies have been disappearing since the debut.

Carry on with your print run drivel.

xD This is the moment the hobby switches to low grades being sought after.

That moment happened a couple years ago, there's a low grade group on Facebook with almost 40,000 members.

With key books going through the roof, your average collector can't even afford a mid-grade these days, so just having the book regardless of condition is a score.

So Ive been watching this listing for awhile... Of course, even at the entry price of 200.00 this was a great deal, but I still had to ask, so I offered him 150.00 for the lot, he rejected it but countered with 175.00, and left it there... a few days ago, when eBay had a %10 off deal, I had to strike.. Total was 182.50 with shipping

I was hovering over the BIN on those for a week... The #1 alone is nearly worth the price.

Not sure why I didn't now that I think about it.

Archived for forever.  It's all part time, only online (or visits to the house) for me.

I love it and have had success over the years.  Roughly $50k gross a year.  And I target 50% margins for entire collections, 40% if its higher priced items.

Hiring someone would be nice but the management of that is tough part time.  Trust and experience are the time killers.  The mundane that a non expert could do is pretty easy.

Bag, boarding, packaging,  trips to USPS, Even scanning are pretty easy and can be done while watching TV.

Its determining what to scan vs selling in bulk.  Grading while the book is out of the bag.  Organizing the books and knowing where they are.  That takes up the time and can't be outsourced for cheap.

My day job gives me the capital to buy big collections if need be.

Just read all 14 pages of that, fun stuff! What is your eBay name? Curious if I've ever bought anything from you.

How many new books sell for $80? I see huge numbers in 9.8 selling for way less than the cost of slabbing.

I should have clarified *hot/desirable/key/niche new books :)

Check eBay sales for: "cgc fast track" , there have been ~89 of them in the last couple months (mostly sold by Slabbed Heroes I think) selling for over $75, some as high as $650.

I think the profit far outweighs the fees here.

So I filled a claim with Paypal and the seller was not happy and threatened to contact his lawyer.

Should I have asked the seller for a refund without filling a claim first ? Was I too harsh by going directly to Paypal ?

Why did you do a PayPal claim instead of going through eBay like he said you could? You were already on the page and in the process it seemed.

Unless you are thinking eBay & PayPal are the same thing as far as returns (they're not).

Seems like you thought you could just solve the problem by tapping it back into place, then once again feel unsatisfied after you looked it over. That was a bad idea IMO, he's going to claim you damaged it. :(

It should easily beat a 100 million world wide opening now.

I am pretty sure a Venom 2 with Carnage gets greenlighted now. So time to keep an eye on (ASM 361)

I think that ship sailed last year already ;) as far as getting an inexpensive 9.8 anyway.

  11. Good feedback, thanks!

I'm fine with 3 copies, and did not go back for more. Was just seeing how it is these days with the collecting knob turned to 11.

I did buy a fast-track 9.8 slab on eBay as well, GPK was a huge part of my childhood, I have a lot of memories about trading them with my friends in grade school, playing football in the yard on warm fall days and my dad surprising me with a few packs, etc :)
