I received an email yesterday stating that my Marv Wolfman signed books are being shipped. For reference, they were signed on 7/11/22.

I was in the middle of asking if anyone received their Wolfman books when you posted this.
Yeah, that looks like Vigilante peed himself. LOL

Has anyone received their books back from the Marv Wolfman private signing? I know the last day for CGC to receive them was 4/15, but I am not sure of which date he would be signing them. 8 weeks was stated with CCS pressing and grading. 8 weeks has come and gone already twice.

You also have to keep in mind that some of the foreign editions of comics are released later than the US versions so people may not be as interested in those because it is more like a reprint. Even though it is the first printing of that book in that country, if it is released months or years later than the US counterpart it is usually not valued as high. Just my 2 cents.

I am wondering if anyone has received any of their books back from the July 2021 Comicpalooza private signing of Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman. I submitted my books for CGC Signature Series that day with the onsite facilitator and have still not received the books back. Since it has been so long, I can't even check for the submission status on CGC's site any longer.

Careful there, Bo. The only thing I know for certain is that I don't know much.
The outside covers are definitely soiled. However, the blotchiness seen on the inside covers is due to more than just soiling. The rusty bottom staple suggests that the book was stored in a moist environment, and the tideline across the top-left corner of the back cover indicates that part of the book had contact with free water. Dirt, organic contaminants (fingerprints, food stains, etc), and moisture are all things that promote the development of molds and foxing (which frequently appears as blotches rather than specks).
Now ask me something I can actually answer.
Thanks for the explanation. I figured this probably came from someone's attic or a shed.

I have a suggestion that would help all of us get better at this grading thing. Once the rounds are over and the actual grades posted, why not also post the grader notes so we can see what we may have missed? They are free these days.

I had 2 bullseyes, 1 a single grade off, then 2 abysmal 4 point off grades. 9 points is my total for this round.

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit I got burned by the census on Rex Dexter this round. I checked it on a lark and was surprised to see there was no books graded between 0.5 and 3.0, which is where I had it. I think I turned a 1 point miss (prolly had it 1.8) into a 4 point miss as I settled on 3.0. I'm not mad at all, my fault for trying to use an outside source instead of just grading the book. I'm curious why it didn't show up on the census? Maybe too recently slabbed?
I did the same thing. I figured it had to be on the census, but it was not and still is not. I was thinking it would be between a 1.0 and a 2.0, then the census idea tricked me and I went with the 3.0 because there were none in the census between 0.5 and 3.0. I should have trusted my gut instead.

My total of 10 points is much worse than I expected.
3 points for the golden and silver age books and 7 points in the bronze and modern. Man I was much tougher on those newer books.

Thanks Jennifer. I figured that was the case, but just verifying.

One of my orders was received at CCS on 7/22/21 and the status is still just "Received at CCS". Be prepared to wait a very long time. With the current turnaround time of CCS plus modern grading, my books will now take 16 months before I can hope to see them again.

I am curious, pertaining to CGC grading, are CGC working days a typical 5-day work week? I know there are also holidays in which CGC would be closed, I am just trying to determine when I may have my books back from grading.
Thanks

Does anyone know an approximate timeframe for modern books in the Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging phase to complete? Is this a lengthy phase? It has been a few years since my last submission and the overall timeframe was much shorter then.

I'm in as it sounds like fun. I didn't know this happened previously.

I would like to know how the max value per item works. I submitted 20 books to CGC a few months back and some of those would be worth over $400 if graded 9.8. However, the value of several of those were below $400 at the time of submission. So, is the value based on when CGC receives it or once it is graded? Also, it really is an estimation of value before submission, as a novice collector may not know if the grade of the raw comic is a 9.4 or 9.8.
I am a bit concerned that some of my books that only cost around $20 to submit back in April now could cost $75 each for grading.
-
I submitted 20 books under the Modern category to be graded. They were received by CGC on 5/3/21, they were scheduled for grading on 6/25/21, and I was charged for grading on 8/25/21. However, submission tracking only shows scheduled for grading.
How long after payment is made for grading before the books are graded?
