I was raised down in the Southeastern part of the state, but moved up to Indianapolis for school and stayed for work.

I miss it a lot - mostly because I miss my old comic store.

Just moved to Indy in April, the shops around here seem pretty good. Still looking for one with a lot of back stock though.

Nice to see some other Hoosiers on the board.

  2. I'm in the process of setting up a small online comic shop and getting a Diamond account. Over the past several months I've been selling quite a bit on eBay, both older stuff from my collection/flea market finds and new "hot" comics.

I do a fair amount of flipping to support my habit, but it's often a frustrating process (not being able to source enough issues to make it worthwhile, etc...).

The basic idea here is that I'm spending a fair amount on new stock every month that gets shipped from Diamond->online/LCS retailer->me. If I cut out that middle step I can both reserve more issues of books I want and reduce my price. I already do a lot of reading/monitoring the market week to week so I could possibly tailor the site to investment/speculation comics that can be hard to find on the big sites. It seems like a win to me.

I'm already finding myself spending $400-500 a month on books (between personal collecting and flipping) so I'm not too concerned about the monthly order threshold.

I already have an online store set up (but not live), eventually I'd like to have user-friendly subscription management but for now the goal will be to just sell books on the website/eBay.

Is this stupid? Are there any horror stories of people that have tried this? I searched the boards but can't find much.

    Thanks!

What are you saying. The ones in the photos posted? Looks like 24 books total to me and a box is supposed to have 25 comics.

Mine only had 24 books too, 9 of which were the blank variants that are thicker. I think they did it by weight or something.

  4. Yeah not sure what happened there. Mine were all in good shape. I did get 24 instead of 25, though I'm not too upset since I got a Negan and other titles I wanted.

I'm looking for ROYAL CITY #1 BLANK editions from the boxes if anyone has those and wants to unload...

I have one with a small ink smudge and the horizontal line mentioned upthread. PM me if you're still interested.

My LCS and I ordered two, thinking he would, at best, get one for me. He is a small store in Indiana. They both came in, and he offered both to me so I took them. $200 each. Have not opened them yet, but I will tonight. Glad to have them!

Are you in Indy? If so I want to start going to that shop because $200 is a heck of a deal.

BTW, picked up the 2nd trade this Wed (was wrong in previous post, came out July 5th, not July 11th :P). Loved it, basically couldn't put it down. Re-read the 1st trade just to get everything fresh in my mind again before starting the 2nd.

I wasn't sure whether this was going to be a 12-book mini-series or not, but... (very small spoiler below)

... the end clearly finishes on a bit of a cliffhanger, and a "To Be Continued...", so I guess it's going to be a continuing series?

Anyone heard of when book 13 is supposed to come out? 12 came out May 31st, and no mention of upcoming next book, so must be on a hiatus? Given Monstress' popularity, I'm sure Image will pick it up for continuation... no?

They took a break between issues 6 and 7 so I think it's a planned break between arcs and they'll pick it back up in a few months.

  7. Hi everyone

I'm new to the boards - I've been lurking for about a week. I'm floored by the amount of knowledge on this forum. I started collecting in the early 90s as a kid and got back into the hobby a few years ago. Right now my focus is mostly on silver age, although I have a soft spot for Claremont X-Men and the Frank Miller Daredevil run.

Currently subscribe mainly to Image titles (Saga, East of West, Seven to Eternity, Kill or Be Killed, etc...)

Just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for basically consuming my entire work week :)
