  1. Like brothers, we are Not much to say about the Church A-Man 22 except . With the gal giving everyone a crotch shot, some interesting plot twists can be formulated. Chris 'Heroes&Dragons' Foss had the Larson AM 22 some years back but was asking $10k, which was too rich for my blood. What did it go for, like $6k? STEVE Was it the #22? I don't remember seeing it. How did grade? S The book was at San Diego (you weren't there) in years past - VF/NM if I recall correctly. Now that I think about it, maybe it was that Church copy after all. Knowing the price tag, I didn't look too carefully lest I lust uncontrollably for it. I'll have to check the Larson list when I get home (unless someone has it handy) to see if an AM 22 is even listed... STEVE It definitely was not the Church copy. S
  2. they snatched the UNRESTORED 5.0 #36 I was thinking about as well hello all... metro did not have an unrestored 5.0 #36 on their site yesterday?...Vin told me that the cover had been cleaned on that book ( the $3K copy)...otherwise, I would have had it long ago since I completed the tecs, I had not been hitting the detective part of the site daily, recently...was the 37 the $5900 copy?...that one looked pretty good, but it had been on their site since last year? or was this a new copy? rick ok, so now I'm confused, I remember they had 3 copies of Tec #36, one 8.5 cvr cleaned for $7,390, (still on their site) one 8.0 ct/cvr cleaned for $2,000 (still on their site) and the 5.0 for $3,000, which is the one that is gone now, was this book restored ?? the listing didn't say anything about resto. Yeah, I called Vin too about the 5.0 tec 36 and he told me too that there is a high possibility that it was cleaned/restored. If it were unrestored, either myself or Rick would have picked it up when it first came out. well, now I don't feel so bad about missing it,.. someone did buy it right ? hello all... we can assume so, since it is not listed on their site...don't feel bad, I had vin confirm the cover had been aqueously cleaned, if I remember correctly (but this was last year)...both brian and I had been looking at it...since an unrestored 36 is tops on my list (COOLJ, oh COOLJ...help a brother out!).... but, I used to see a ton of 36's, so I am sure some will pop up sooner or later! rick I was wondering why one of you Tec guys hadn't snatched that one up, , now I know. Yep.. We are pretty much on top of things on Metro's Tec books. Rick, what condition is COOLJ's tec 36? Has he posted a pic on here yet? Thanks. Brian The problem is that for every early Detective you see on the site, there probably is another copy that never made it to the site. Steve

You are thinking of the high grade #36 which has a cleaned cover. The VG/F does NOT have a cleaned cover. Stephen

  5. Glad I was able to be a "Minion of Metropolis", even if only for a few minutes (I feel so special already)! STEVE Whatever.
  6. Actually, I didn't pay the listed prices becuause I got a quantity discount. Steve Plus you probably got the elementary school student discount that Chuck no longer offers. Another big savings right there. Plus I bought them with time payments. That reminds me! I've got to pay Chuck for them next week. S That reminds me - I'm way overdue on my Pop Hollinger subscription payments. Does anyone have a quarter I could borrow? Bad news. Pop is dead. Are you OK??.....? S

  8. I think we need to invalidate this sale since it wasn't done in the marketplace. Oh, come on. SOMEone had to say it. I wasn't sure what was going to happen first. The book selling or someone telling me to move it to the marketplace. S
  9. Alright, who poached that book, and what do I have to offer tham to wrestle it away?? It sat unsold for 10 minutes before someone claimed it. S
  10. I am offering a copy of Amazing Mystery Funnies v2#5. The grade is VG with cream/ow pages. The book is unrestored and has a minor spine roll. The book is priced at $1200. The first person was PM's me gets it. To be clear, a PM requesting a scan does not count. S
  11. Another book brought to you by Metropolis Comics....yet given no credit. S

  13. All I can say it is amazing how I was able to hoard a pretty common issue of KDE in order to make it look scarce. Let the floodgates open. S
  14. I have sold about 15 copies of this book over the years. For some reason it is quite common for a Centaur. Cool book though. Stephen
  15. Sorry for the departure from the thread but that Millie 42 does exist and people know it's a to find as per the ending price of $503.50 shipped on eBay for this copy - It does exist. I have sold 2 copies in the past 10 years. S
  16. That is one tough book. S Let me guess, it came from you? bad guess. S
  17. Here is a book you don't see everyday. S
  18. More to the point, Timely's are for girls S. Absolutely. And before anyone complains, please understand that I think there's nothing wrong with that. I'm certainly not going to begrudge girls who want to collect comics written especially for them. You DC guys are all in denial, Robin was the original tool wonder and DC would have been better off closing shop like Goodman did in the 50's instead of cranking out all those lame story lines. Even after Marvel has essentially captured the whole comic market in the early to mid 60's it still took DC almost another decade to realize that maybe Bathound or Superman's "Pal" Jimmy Olsen stories were for the birds. Of course I say this in complete jest and do admire pre-Robin Tec's, too bad it only lasted 11 issues. You shut up about Robin.
  19. I'll let you know if I find one, but I've got to tell you, the one I've got (Church copy) is the only one (other than Jon Berk's) that I'm aware exists. If I remember correctly, Metro has never owned another copy either. The only reason I don't score it higher than a 27 on my scarcity index is that the market price of the book (based on the market price of surrounding copies) is potentially low enough that it's unattractive for existing owners to contemplate selling their copies. A 27 is plenty high, though. That's a very rare score. Just came across an unopen case of KDF #9. The ones in the middle of the case are very nice. The ones at the top and bottom - not so nice. S
