  1. I think all of the Detectives that seem to be bouncing around have come from me. Well....at least most. S
  2. Well, it sold before on Heritage for $63,250. Here's the link. The question is, why did it get cracked and re-subbed for the same grade? Does it look like the slightly crumpled upper left corner from the original scan has had any work done on it? Seems like a 60K book to me. I don't know why this book guides for so much. Why is it more valuable than a Amazing Mystery Funnies #1? Or a number of scarce Golden Age keys from period including WonderWorld #3 (1st Flame by Lou Fine) which guides for less than 1/2 of the AM#5. S
  3. I have to agree (and was just going to post the same thing). Very, very tough book in grade - and difficult to find at all unrestored - but oh man that price range just makes me cringe. I'm perfectly happy with the A-Man 6 (which does retell our hero's origin...) STEVE Besides the substantially lower price point for A-Man #6, I also feel the cover image for issue #6 is superior to the cover image for A-Man #5. Now, is your copy of A-Man #6 up for sale anytime soon? Amazing Man #5 has Amazing Man on the cover which is a plus. Amazing Man #6 has a hand on the cover. However, this may very well be the first appearance of Hand. I will check into it. S

  5. There are much better uses for 75K than buying the AM#5 Mile High. S
  6. looks restored to me. Trimmed for sure. Any brittleness? S
  7. Those reds!! Those reds!! Detective Comics #30 - the first cover app of Ed Norton.
  8. Such an underrated title. From my vantage point, Detective Comics #1 seems like a rip-off of Detective Picture Stories #1. S
  9. We had one going on the shocked robins...... Robin had such a wide acting range in those days. S
  10. Never saw the allure in it. What are you talking about? That's the 1st app. of Green Car. If that wasn't enough, it is also the first app. of Scared Man In Corner. S
  11. Before you go, let's clarify - your position is that the grade was stretched, the price was pushed, and disclosure did not occur, correct? In other words, a taste of your own medicine STEVE This was the scans that was finally sent after your false claims about the book were made. And I appreciate that the fact that you have admitted your mis-deeds. And for offically removing yourself from the pedestal that you had placed yourself on. Any idea who photoshopped the new and improved scan? Stephen
  12. This is the scan of the book that Steve Carey had sent me. The sub crease is visible in the original scan in contrast to the other scan that has also been posted where the sub crease is somehow invisible.
  13. Not to bad mouth Action1kid, but I really do see you more as an Action2kid. S
  14. I didn't read any name calling? Neither did I. I am not talking about the tit for tat that some are doing above regarding specific transactions. This is an issue between Dave and Steve, which has been publicized, and thats fine. That was their choice. But give me a break, look at some of the comments that were made. Why in the world would Dave ever come back here? I wouldn't. Hopefully he will go to the GA Forum so adult conversation can occur regarding his collection and experiences. Speaking of Mark Zaid, I have heard that he is only an actual lawyer in the loosest sense of the word. In contrast to say, my cat, he would definitely be considered a lawyer. However, in my book, buying a law degree on Craig's list does not count. I am not here to slam Mr. Zaid. I just think we should talk about him in a pejorative sense. S I know where you live. Great. Can you let me know? I have been walking around at night looking for my house.
  15. My posting was not done lightly. I have sat by and watched Mr. Carey, a comic dealer, bad mouth numerous individuals, including myself, over and over again. S

  17. On a different topic, I received an email from Brad Savage (Krazy Kat). It seems that he feels that owning original art is much better than owning comic books. Was anyone else aware that he felt like that? I am kind of stunned. Since Dave Anderson came on to express his opinions, let see if we can get Brad to do the same. S
  18. The label of dealer and collector are remnants of the past. We just a bunch of people buying and selling comic books. S Stop quoting Bob Storms! Actually, it is Bob Storms quoting me. S

  20. No, but the rat was found taking a nap at the centerfold.
  21. I must say that I have been hurt and disappointed by Steve Carey as of late. I look at Dave Anderson’s recent experience with Mr. Carey and I can say that it feels quite familiar. Mr. Carey spends a great deal of time talking about honestly and disclosure. I am getting the feeling that it is only that. Talk. Last month Mr. Carey offered me the same All-American #16 that he had bought 6 months ago from Marnin. A book that he had bought for a little over $30,000 was now being offered to me for $60,000. He mentioned that the main defect was a very minor subscription crease that did not break color. When I finally viewed a scan of the book, I quickly realized that his representation of the book was false. The sub crease did break color as evidenced by the white line at the center of the cover. I felt I was being mislead in order to enter into a $60,000 transaction. Mr. Carey talks about full disclosure, but I guess when the price gets up to $60,000, that seems to get thrown out the window. Shortly before that Mr. Carey spent a great deal of time trying to get me to purchase his Amazing Man #6 Mile High for $20,000. He graded the book at NM- “and certainly better than a VF/NM” After carefully looking at the scan, I noticed it had what appeared to be a 4” crease on the cover. I asked Mr. Carey about it and he finally relented and admitted that it was “only an indentation”. I wish he had disclosed this defect earlier as it would have saved me a great deal of time and effort. Stephen
  22. I have seen Dave Anderson's Action #1 and it is UNRESTORED. Certain comments to the contrary are false. Stephen Fishler
