  1. My one and only Golden Age comic. I present to you Submariner #18 from the Winter of 1945. Will get around to submitting for grading one of these days.
  2. Thanks all. I'll be doing another batch of submissions next month and confirm back with the grade when I get it back.
  3. All, Had great feedback on a couple others I put out there and now on to one of my favorites, since as you may see by my pic I am a big Sub-Mariner fan. For your consideration and evaluation, Fantastic Four #4. This one has been warming up and if/when there is a MCU announcement on Namor joining the team, expect this one to grow even more. This one is a bit of a "mullet" in that it's not too bad on the front but on the back, gets a bit ugly. My biggest question is if the detached staple may get a green label. I do see blue labels with detached staples so hope this is one that will make that grade. Cover chips Spine tear from the bottom past the bottom staple Bottom staple detached Tear bottom left corner Bottom left corner missing Back tear from middle of book to center of book on side and top Back smudge under the drawing guy - doesn't look like white out or anything but someone rubbed the book the wrong way Cover piece missing from middle of page All pages there with no cutouts
  4. Met Steranko at the Washington State Summer Con in in Summer 2019. Had him sign my Cap 110 also.
  5. Got my Signature Series 169 back from the Roy Thomas signing.
  6. Submitted in the grading thread and may get a 1.0 for it but one of the prizes in my collection. She's beat up, taped up but still all mine and an X-Men #1
  7. A few years back, I bought a Captain America shield with multiple signatures on it. Some familiar from the comic industry such as Stan Lee, Steranko, Zeck and others who wrote, drew or were part of Captain America's comic history. One large signature that was also on the shield belonged to a gentleman named Allen Bellman. I've been collecting comics for many years and since I grew up in San Diego, loved to attend conventions in San Diego or the Seattle area where I now live but I couldn't recall hearing the name, Allen Bellman. Well, I turned to the Internet and much to my surprise, I learned that Allen Bellman was one of, if not the last living artist from the Timely Comic (pre-Marvel) days. I went to his website and put in an order for a signed copy of his autobiography and a print of his artwork. Shortly after that, I received an email directly from Allen to confirm my order and thank me. Wait, what? The artist sending a personal email after I ordered something. Well I thought to myself, I'll have to do some more here. I then began a correspondence with him about two commissions I wanted him to do. I am a lifelong Submariner fan and commissioned one of just "Subby" as Allen called him and a trio of the "Original Three" Captain America, The Human Torch and Submariner in full fighting Axis pose. This was all in late 2019 and Allen even asked for my phone number. We talked a few times about the commission and I couldn't get over the personal touch that he brought. He really wanted to get things right. After reading his autobiography, I was amazed at his story of leaving the comic industry and coming back to the spotlight the past few years with the MCU movies gaining in popularity. He was invited to the Captain America premier, started to do the comic convention circuit and even through out a first pitch for the Florida Marllins. I've seen it quoted and he said a few times on the phone to me also, "If not for the fans, I would be in a rocking chair."I got my commissions from Allen and was proud to own a true part of history. I didn't get a chance to meet him in person at one of the conventions he was attending but intended to. Unfortunately, I read that Allen Bellman passed away at the age of 95 on March 9th, 2020.I appreciate the time he spent with me on the commissions to get them perfect and for being a true gentlemen from what I experienced and read on various sites.
  8. Thanks all - plan to submit in Feb when my membership renews and will post back with the winning grade. Looking at how this one has skyrocketed and compared to the amount I paid for it a few years ago, this one is a great surprise in the collection and a 4.0 would be great.
  9. Thanks for the welcome wagon - been a member for a few years but just now becoming more active in the boards. Thanks all for the support!
  10. Took another closer look as the photo makes it more prominent than looking at the comic with the naked eye. I looked inside and outside and doesn't appear to be a piece replacement thankfully but the coloring is noticeably different as it's one of the non-taped area. Not sure if it's a bleach, color touch or what. Will submit for screening to see if it is some kind of color touch or restoration. Thanks for the call out,
  11. Submitting one more today for the wisdom of the board. Fantastic Four 49 - this one is heating up and I was lucky enough to get as part of a Fantastic Four lot a few years back. All pages accounted for with no cutouts Staples attached Nice color Bends with color breaks on spine and along edges/corners Bends on back Pages off white No major rips/tears What do you think?
  12. Thank you all for the quick responses. My main hope was Universal Blue and if it can stretch to 1.5, I would be happy with that but won't be disappointed with a 1.0. Plan to submit when my membership renews in Feb and use the credit. Will update afterwards.
  13. All, First time at this but looking to send in some Marvel Keys to CGC in 2021 and reaching out to the wisdom of the Chat Board for what to expect. Starting off with a low grade X-Men #1 but one of my crown jewels. Notes that you can see in the pictures: Lots of tape - looks pretty old so not sure when done Seems to be attached at the staples but not sure if that's a result of the tape or not Rounded corners, tanning on inside covers, staining on inside front cover, non-white pages, chipping top back and spine, minor tears along spine and edges, 1"ish tear taped on back that's pretty visible All pages accounted for and no cut outs Realize at best a low grade, believe that tape is not considered "restoration" but want honest opinion of chances for Blue Universal grade as opposed to Green label and grade. Thank you all in advance.
  14. I have a couple in person signed by Kirby and that looks legit. I have a couple Stan Lee's that I submitted to CGC and got the "Stan Lee" written on inside cover blue label I am happy with. Haven't submitted a Kirby but his signature is clear and unique as you can see.
  15. Could you add Sub-Mariner Comics 70th Anniversary Special #1 (Marvel Comics 6/09 Roy Thomas Story, Mitch Breitweiser cover & art) didn't see it under any of the Sub-Mariner sets or Marvel 70th sets. Thanks!
  16. Can you add: Prince Namor The Sub-Mariner Four Issue Limited Series (1984) Question - it's a one shot but is "Iron Man and Sub-Mariner #1" from 4/68 part of a set? If not, can you also add? Thanks,
