Some bullet points on this collection for sale to take into consideration before you purchase:
* I have NOT examined each and every book. I have casually glanced at it and roughly assessed a grade. If there is damage to the interior, I will not know of it. But if the covers are true indicators, I will most likely be within a grade or so in accuracy. Having grown up grading books in the 70s and 80s, I can state that my grades are usually lower than what CGC grades. And I do not grade over 9.2. That means some of these more recent books can easily be 9.6 or 9.8. LUCKY YOU if that is the case!* In determining value, I have NOT taken into account any particular significance of a book that has exponentially jumped in recent years. I literally used the most recent OSPG. So, if the Guide is off on a particular issue because some character showed up in the movie or something and it is worth a lot more, LUCKY YOU!
* I already sold the JIM #83 and #85. UNLUCKY YOU!

Somewhere in my files I have a copy of the original Sparkle City ad for the Fawcett exhibit copies. I know I also posted it on the boards years ago.

The copies for the counsel are "conformed" and have file stamps. So they would have come from a trial participant, most likely old lawyer files. Less likely that they came from old court files.
The DC-Fox lawsuit exhibit copies were returned to DC following the trial, and they remained in its possession until probably the mid-1980s. The last confirmed viewing of them that I have been able to track was from Michael Uslan when he inventoried one of the DC closets in the 1970s while an intern and they were still there. Needless to say, at some point, just like with many of DC's ashcans, they "disappeared". Subsequently, they were acquired by certain dealers and have made their way into the marketplace over the last 40 years. DC has long known about these copies (including through many discussions with me) and basically waived any right to pursue them. I own five of them.
The DC-Fawcett lawsuit exhibit copies were returned to Fawcett following the trial. The vast majority of them remained with Fawcett until Sparkle City purchased them in the early 1980s when the warehouse contents were sold off. I have more than 20 of those copies. Some copies, however, did manage to find their way into private hands before then. I purchased three exhibit copies through an ebay purchase probably 12-15 years ago and was told they came from an individual who used to work at Fawcett.
I probably own the greatest number of ashcans, much thanks to my good friend Moondog when he sold off many of his collection and I grabbed them to supplement my own (which was likely second to his at the time), although he retains some of the best and most valuable ones that I would love to own one day!
I also own the DA #1 ashcan and #2, among other prized rare beauties.

Captain Midnight #23 (8/44) CGC 6.0 OW
I imagine the USGOVT was not particularly happy with Fawcett highlighting Japanese internment camps.
Not a book you come across often.
FYI, this book was also sold to me as being a Tom Reilly/San Francisco copy, but I can't prove it which is why it is not on the label (I submitted the book). Maybe someone else can prove it.

Journey into Mystery #85 CGC 4.0 OW/W
3rd appearance of Thor but more importantly the 1st appearance of Loki et al. First mention of and brief appearance by Odin. Currently ranked #49 on Overstreet's Top 50 Silver Age Comics list. Jack Kirby cover and art. Backup feature with Steve Ditko art.
No doubt this book is only going to increase in value given Loki's expansion in television and movie programming.
