  1. Great job. It's nice to see that preservation of this kind was finally accepted.
  2. Action 1 I will always be the Indiana Jones of this elusive comic
  3. That's right..The bleed through could be a problem.. But check anyways ..You never know. Is there any moderate amount of bleed through on the cover looking on the inside page?
  4. I once had my Cap#1 restored by Mark Wilson in the late 80's and Matt Nelson of CCS? did my More fun #55.. I think though with the caliber of book you have the best in my opinion would be The restoration lab Restoration lab She is supposed to be the best..
  5. That's awesome. Congrats on the collection.. Funny thing though. A few days ago I was rummaging through an old box of comics I have had for 25 years and it was just sitting in the closet never looked at hardly. As I was going through them I found Marvel super heroes #65 and #66 .35 variants in extremely high grades.. The person I bought the books from had bagged the comics as soon as he bought them. These were just forgotten for years. http://imgur.com/a/9HqkB http://imgur.com/a/1ZIq4 Back of #66
  6. I had a Cap #1 back in 87 bought it from Fantazia Comics for $800 in VG condition. Had it restored to a VF/NM by a well know restorer at the time I was 18 years old..I wish I still had it now.
  7. Fantastic book! I always wanted to get one. Did you decide on who would be restoring this book?
  8. Well I have to say that I may be one of the first collectors that had a bad situation with that S.O.B. You know if you red my past subject how he scammed me and my Action #3. I was 16 in 1984 and was seriously interested only in the big books Action#1 etc.... When my comics went missing after I returned the books he traded for the Action #3 he started to change his voice to make me think I was talking to someone else! At that time I was charging over $400.00 per month talking to him (phone bills) with regards to future purchases and runarounds. 2 years ago I contacted a 1,000,000 Comix seller on Ebay and asked if Gerry was still around and would like to talk with him. The person on the other end seemed very concerned, who I was, why I wanted to speak with him and so on. I was told that he still was the chairman. All I said was remember the Action #3 in in 1984??? No response after that!
  9. How did you get a 9.6 with that tear at the top left corner Nice copy!
  10. That's probably all you have to spare little man!
  11. It is easy to spot color touch, tear seals, trimming ect. Cover cleaning is a different issue. Susan Ciccone said that the hardest to detect is a cleaning if done properly it is almost impossible to detect. Indicating that a book was cleaned or just the cover is just a judgement call and nothing else. Especially if the cover was not removed to do the cleaning. This book is totally original the staples were never removed the color is perfect and there is no FUNKY smell to the book the gloss is wonderful and there is no ink migration. There is NOTHING unusual with this book so this was a judgment call and to be honest a big mistake. I really don't care anyway because it is a beauty that is 100% original, it is a pedegree that is second to Mile High in terms of amout of books in a collection also this survived over 60 years in a well cared for collection and is one of the best in terms of condition (original condition) this book deserves all the respect it can get.
  12. Hey.. Just enjoy the post. I mainly put this pedegree up for everyone to see the Rockford copy. I really don't want to get into a useless topic.
  13. My posts have nothing to do with with this book plus I did not restore this book and this book really is not restored. What made you assume that I did any work on this book? How can you be sure that any work was done on this book as there is NO indication that ANY work was done. Just because CGC may think so does not meen that it is 100% accurate. To think that this book would loose $5000 even if it is 100% original is crazy I only wanted to share this with people who wised to see this pedegree NOT to have smart remaks from you.
  14. My dealing with Gerry Ross (The Comic Master) I know This might bore you but I thought I would just let you all in on a deal that I had as A 17 year old in 1986 with the infamous Gerry Ross. I saw his ad before he teamed up with Robert Crestol and called him up to make a trade from one on his books in his catalog he had sent me. I had a Action #3 in unrestored vg-f condition sold to me by Joe Mannarino for $500.00 at the time and I had to get a loan from my father for the book. It was a beauty!!...As we spoke we agreed on a Marvel Mystery #5 as I thought it was rare according to over street and a Captain America #3. He told me that if I did not like the books he would return my book back so I sent him the Action. Sure enough he let me know that OH!! the post damaged the book creating a gash in the cover!! I knew that was false as I totally insulated the book but was too naive to retaliate. He still agreed to the trade for some reason and when I received the books the Marvel was horrible!!. It was torn in half!! but was restored using rice paper to seal all the rips. The Cap was nice propbalbly a sure f+ unrestored called him and he said NO! No returners but he had told me the sale was to my approval. At that time the Cap and Marvel was not that valuable actually the Action was more valuable to me. So he said Ok send the books back and I did register from Toronto Canada. For some reason the books did arrive to his p.o box but the were not accepted!! Now for the real jolt the books were never returned to me as they were lost in transit!!! I feel he had something to do with this.. When I called him over and over he would answer and give me the run around and when I would call again he would disguise his voice as a different person. Well I just thought I would get this off my back. I have photos of the books I took before shipment and if I find them I will post them.
  15. I have a strong feeling that the books Nic got scammed of are........ Detective 27 in the vf/mn range Batman #1 nm- range and I totally think Nick would be able to afford a high grade copy of Action#1 so a vf/nm copy for sure. He probably bought the vg+ to replace the first one as this was probably bought recently at high $$ value and the stolen one was bought years back when Action was only $2500 in good in 1986. I could be wrong but it makes sence....
