  1. So you're upgrading your 7.0 to an 8.0? I feel like a boardie once posted a grade/price scale. I would leverage that and then apply a premium for the book being highest graded copy. Use that as your base price.
  2. If it was actually part of Stan Lee's collection, it would say on the label "From the collection of Stan Lee". Do a search of Excelsior Collectibles, I remember there was a thread about some of their shady business behaviors so it wouldn't surprise me if they're marketing an "Exclusive Red Label" and then trying to add a premium to it.
  3. No offense, but the label itself is irrelevant to the value of the book. A quick eBay search shows that the label appears to be only for books from Excelsior Collectibles who used to be Stan's handler's. I think they might have been the ones who were handling him when that whole debacle about him signing illegible signatures was going on. People started to get upset because they felt he was being taken advantage of because his eye sight was so poor, his energy low, and he just seemed to be signing far longer than he should have. In all honesty, the value of that book should be based on the fact that it's a CGC SS 8.5 signed by Stan and Jim. Everything else is irrelevant. An arbitrary label provided by CGC is nothing more than a gimmick.
  4. OP's gonna come back and wonder how his simple question got so sidetracked.
  5. For anyone else who was as lost as I was. https://www.newsarama.com/46455-next-week-s-superman-14-and-supergirl-33-recalled-over-the-covers.html
  6. "Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime."
  7. What if we just stickied a post with a really catchy title like "Signed/No witness/COA READ HERE!" and then it just linked back to https://www.cgccomics.com/signature-series/
  8. There's got to be a way to sticky one post here in the newbie forum so we don't have to answer this question every week. To answer OP's question, there needs to remain an unbroken chain of custody from creator to CGC in order for a book to qualify for a Signature Series (yellow) label. The only people who qualify for this chain are the creator and his official representatives at his booth and CGC witnesses. If any other third party is introduced into this, the chain is broken. For example, if you buy a book from a creator booth/website and then decide to submit it for CGC grading, you become the questionable link and the link is broken and the book no longer qualifies for yellow label. If you buy a signed book from Midtown with a certificate of authenticity, Midtown is unauthorized and thus, they break the chain of custody. CGC is very strict (and rightfully so) about ensuring with 100% certainty that the signature is witnessed as authentic. Otherwise, the program sort of falls apart.
  9. Sigh...the foodie in me says I've got to try it the next time i'm in town. Thanks.
  10. David Chang's overrated. (I went to Momofuku Ramen and it was the worst ramen i've ever had. Never have I been to a place where I didn't at least finish my bowl.) Is it? I guess I consider myself blessed that my American dollars go further in Canada. @Buzzetta pretty much hit it on the head with his great post on the first page. If you're going to NY, skip the comic shops and go for the sites. One World Trade Center, Central Park, Grand Central Station, the New York Public Library (go see the actual Winnie the Pooh...and Tigger too!), High Line, Brooklyn Bridge, Battery Park, Pebble Beach @ DUMBO, Rockefeller Center (the view from 30 Rock > the view from Empire State Building), etc. I personally enjoy staying in Midtown simply because of accessibility. Plus, if I'm honest, I enjoy how vibrant the area is. It helps that it's close to a lot of places I like to eat at (Ess-A-Bagel, Ippudo Ramen, Halal Guys (is there anything better to eat after a night out drinking?)).
  11. Are there even any Big2 Sig Series books that are a good investment? Creators by and large sign so many books these days that there's hardly any value in it. I think signed books go into a personal collection because you like the creator or the book has meaning to you. Blue label for investment purposes.
  12. not being on a cover doesn't mean squat Hulk #180 squat? FF #48 squat
  13. Nice. I'm looking for one signed along the edge (the blank space behind her back). I bought a verified red label from "the other guys" but that's just not good enough.
  14. Agreed. I feel like the first movie was so bad, that it can only get better from here. Poor casting, poor acting, poor CGI, poor writing. I'm not sure how the movie didn't bomb at the box office, yet here we are. I love Tom Hardy, but he didn't even save the movie. Here's hoping they do a better job surrounding him with this next movie.
  15. I bought an artist print once which came with a mat. When I asked for a signature, the artist inexplicably signed the mat and not the art. I was so confused, but too embarrassed to ask them to sign the actual print. So now I have a signed mat.
  16. He was brought on to Direct the sequel, so the question "What else has he directed?" is pretty straight forward. The CGI should no doubt be improved, but unless Serkis has an actual vision or eye for cinematography, it could just end up a mess. I've never seen Breathe or Mowgli so I really can't say how it'll turn out. I can say, I'm still not keen on Woody as Cletus.
  17. I was actually about to ask what CCS is. Choose Carefully Smithers?
  18. Can't Grade Comics (I kid! Please don't remove my books from the census)
