  1. (all else being the same...in other words, rules applying to cameo/first appearance are the same) (arrows indicate if tie) Release date => Publishing date ==> Arc order Oh sorry, what I meant to say was whatever book I actually have = first appearance.
  2. Disney had a net income of $10.4B in FY19. That number is sure to decrease this year, but they're not in any sort of financial stress just yet.
  3. I feel like the point was lost in translation somewhere. I don't think the original sentiment was to go out and spend money on hobbies if you're struggling. I think (as others have stated) it makes sense to support local businesses if you have the financial stability to do so. If you go out, skip the fast food joint and go to the locally owned restaurant. McDonald's and KFC will still be there when this is done, but the Italian place you like might not be. I also think you should go a step further. I normally don't tip when I do takeout, but ever since the lockdown, i've been tipping $5 (on a $10-$12 take out entree). Maybe it's all for naught. Or maybe there's enough of us who can do it to keep another store from going out of business. From laying off more employees. From cutting their expenses and so on and so forth.
  4. I think this entire thing (corona/quarantine) has resulted in a lot of companies re-evaluating costs and efficiencies to better prepare themselves should such an event occur again. Playboy has already announced that the Spring issue will be the last for 2020 and there is speculation that it might be the final print issue as they focus on other revenue streams (and yes, I realize their print numbers were probably low to begin with). With publishers pushing digital platforms in the last 10 years, perhaps this is the catalyst that makes them re-evaluate their distribution strategy. I'm not sure what the revenue numbers look like and how profitable various aspects of the business are, but if the paper medium shows that it is more susceptible to market events as compared to digital, that seems to be a valid reason for higher ups to at least consider alternatives more so than they would have previously. And what about Diamond? Do they have enough of a runway to survive a prolonged shutdown of the comic market? I don't think this will be the end of floppies. The Amazon Kindle and Apple iPad haven't ended paperback books. CD sales continue to trudge along despite digital music being available for two decades. I think it's fair to say floppies will survive, but will they have a smaller footprint? Or who knows, maybe you're right, maybe this will save floppies. Maybe we'll see fewer variant covers as a result, lower print runs, and just higher quality books in general.
  5. I don't worry about comics as a medium. I know it will continue on in some format. My bigger concern is comics as a paper format. I really enjoy reading a physical copy of a book as opposed to a digital one. It's already a very tough industry for comic shops, I only hope that this isn't the death knell of floppies as we know it. If the medium continues on purely as digital and TPB's, it'll be a sad thing indeed.
  6. God, I'm really not sure what this is going to do for the industry.
  7. cool. didn't realize he posted original art auctions. will definitely have to keep an eye out for those.
  8. How does one get an Artgerm commission?
  9. 5 copies @ $20 plus the blank Avengers discussed via PM. Will PM invoicing contact details. Thanks!
  10. IMO, that Black Cat Noir cover is one of the best pieces he's put out in the last few years.
  11. Not surprising considering science has shown black and red to be two of the most aggressive/intimidating colors. I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with the cover to #1 if not for the fact that he routinely pumps out a lot of art for a certain red head I think in this case, the two pieces displayed alongside each other are much more striking than the two individually. Frankly, the biggest problem I have with issue #2 (asides from the feet) is that the color scheme reminds me more of Cloak and Dagger (blonde girl in a white suit with a black/blue background).
  12. JSC: Here's my cover for Black Widow #1. Me: All his art is starting to look the same. PASS! JSC: Here's my cover for Black Widow #2. Me: (for the record, I have a weakness for blondes. I also like the contrast in the two pieces, both the fact that they're facing away from each other (b/c all he did was flip the art digitally) and more importantly, the color contrast. Red and blue. Black and White. It's still lazy (as far as lazy can be concerning his work...still takes more effort that i'll ever put into it...you know what i mean), but I suddenly like it.)
  13. I just got an email saying mine was closed too. Sad day. I really hope other shapes are able to re-open when this is all over with, otherwise I worry how the industry might change. I really like having floppies and don't want to go to a digital format.
  14. Midnight and all varieties of sets are still available. When was the last time that was the case? I guess he'll just have them at his booth whenever cons start again. But hopefully he reconsiders the prices of his books and pares it back a little bit.
  15. 2pm PST and the sets are still available. If it's not the art...it's the down market...or the virus...or the fact that he's charging $130 for the unsigned set. Honestly, $130? No thanks.
  16. Personally, I like to have them CGC authenticated for future resale purposes as you mentioned. That's the only reason. Not that I intend to sell my books, but there's a high likelihood that my collection is going to get sold off at some point, even if that "some point" is after I die. But yeah, I haven't a clue what OP's intentions are and at this point, it appears as if this thread is just going to disappear to the wayside at some point as a result.
  17. That's a bummer. Without any new content, there's very little incentive for me to login to my Disney+ account right now.
  18. Sigh...despite how his stuff looks the same, i'm a sucker for his Gwen and MJ's. >_< I might actually try to get these.
  19. I mean, it's basically MJ without freckles right? Also, who stands like that?
  20. At this point, I don't understand the need for the grade if they want the bag signed. As I see it these are the options. 1. Just get the sealed black bag signed and put it in an E Gerber mylar and fullback. That's how I store the majority of my comics and the black bagged Superman. 2. Open the bag and get the comic signed and graded. And get the bag signed as well if they want. Then keep the black bag in a separate bag and board or mylar and fullback. I'm under the assumption that they want the unopened bag signed and authenticated.
  21. Curious, is it possible to just have the signature verified? So like a CGC Signature Series case with grade of NG? Thus allowing the book to remain in the black bag.
  22. Ugh, bonus' were just announced yesterday and this is the last post i needed to stumble upon.
  23. One of these days I hope to make it out to a convention that you're at so I can pick up a piece in person.
