I was very tempted on this one. Weeks' Daredevil run had some nice art, but #300 was the climax and a great story. This is a great page that sums up the book, and has DD and Kingpin. If this were from a different issue, I doubt it would have the same result.

The stats are bad enough, but pasting onto another backboard? Might as well draw mustaches and eye patches on all the characters if you're going to change the art that much.

It is the page that has Wolverine falling into the sewer. Not great images of it, but it leads into some pretty iconic images at the end of this issue and in the next issue. I think most of the pages from the next issue aren't going anywhere any time soon, so possibly some see it as the next best thing?

I'm a fan of just about everything he ever did, but there's no denying that this was his best piece ever. Just incredible. Pretty cool to see it in a frame.

I'd always wondered if those infamous Alpha Flight 6 pages that were completely blank because of a "snowstorm" had ever been sold as original art. Looks like there's another example coming up in an upcoming Comicconnect auction. https://www.comicconnect.com/bookDetail.php?id=778445 I wasn't as familiar with this one, but it looks to be the same kind of thing. Sort of cool, even though it's basically just a word balloon and a Byrne autograph. Have any of the other examples like this been sold? Maybe the BWS Solar 10 cover? Just curious how they might do.

Anyone know how big the originals were? I have some of the prints that were put out a few years back, and some of those were pretty big. Just wondering how large this guy will end up being.

The best of the best. I'm definitely in for this one. I can't think of anything that would benefit more from the Artist's Edition treatment than this.

There's just so much wrong with this one. Based on counting the lower side that's visible, the Joker has at least 48 total teeth. Though Harley comes off much better if you picture her as a half-snake version, since there's no way this would work with legs. I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a weird boob-window, or some sort of glare, or a weird flesh-colored patch. And the whole right shoulder area is really messed up. I think it's a symptom of a change in centering mid-process, but it ends up with a really weird-looking anatomy.

Finally uploaded a bunch of my more recent acquisitions to CAF. This one's one of my favorites. I finally checked Rick Leonardi off my X-Men artist list. And while some of his earlier work was cool, this one is from X-Men 273, which was right in the middle of the X-Men run I read in Jr High. I was way into the X-Tinction Agenda back then, and eagerly snatched up all the X-Men and related issues I could find. I though this issue was a really cool follow up, with all the teams finally united and interacting. And the issue had so many artists, it was just such a cool reading experience back then. I also think Leonardi's Archangel came off really nice. Really happy to have snatched this one up.

Super happy to have finally nabbed one of my favorite pages from Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run. This was from a fill-in issue, but easily my favorite fill-in issue of all time. It takes a half-reprint, half-dream issue and makes it really matter to the series story. It's also the introduction of Cain and Abel in the DC /Vertigo universe, and as such, the story's full of fun wordplay. The "Am I your keeper" panel gives me shivers every time I reread it.

Looks like this was $4500 for the complete book and cover. So the cover must have been split off by that point.

Yeah, I don't think the trade dress helps the prelims at all.

First win from Heritage, and it checks off a major box for me. I've always liked EC books, so I thought I'd try to get an example of each of the greats. Graham Ingels was always my favorite, and I finally scored a nice page of his. This is the final page of an Edgar Allen Poe adaptation and has a great finishing panel with the Old Witch. Definitely lower prices on this one. I think finishing the day after the holiday really kept prices from jumping in the final few minutes. I actually picked up a few things, including one of my top 5 most wanted pages. So a successful auction for me.

I think adding the logo and even the blurb on that unfinished of a piece has a negative impact. Having a prelim is cool, but I think adding all the trade dress sort of takes away from it.
