I'm an LB Cole fan, and these 2 while not in pristine condition, are grails to me. I'm now got over 1/2 this run and will close it out someday:

I've often wondered about that cover too. Cole didn't sign his credited Dell covers though. He's also credited with the Tailspin cover (just grabbed off the boards WOOHOO!) and that's not signed but certainly looks like his work. And on a side not I'm sitting next to a copy of BLUE BOLT V9 #9. GREAT lumberyard cover! Scored it for $21 off the bay. I'm really into those covers right now. I may try to get a few more of them soon!

Thank you! I wonder if there's a process for questioning Overstreet on this... So, I sent an email to the people at Overstreet and I just got a reply: Jamie, I looked at the Patches cover and some of Cole's romance covers on the Heritage Auction site and I see a similarity in style. The notation has been in the Guide since the 13th edition (1983), and back then Bob Overstreet was in contact with Cole (he did the cover for the 11th edition.) I don't know if Bob got the information directly from Cole, but it's likely. Thanks for your question. Mark Huesman - Creative Director

Here's a question... This is up on ebay now. It's listed as being a LB Cole cover in the listing and in Overstreet. However, it really doen't look like one of his, and it's not even signed (as far as I can see). I know he did the awesome cover to #1 of this series, but IS THIS REALLY A LB COLE COVER?

Yup, and WOW! Double cover!!! I just love that cover. The perspective is unique, and just that hand in the upper left totally makes it. Throw in a little skull on the elephant and BAM! Instant classic!

Awesome books as usual, Jeff. This cover is more than suggestive - Especially the elephant's trunk With the direction she's throwing the knife, that would make this a classic circumcision cover. HA! Great copy. I have a cheap one, myself. Only 1 staple, but she's a beaute! After seeing this cover, i had to have it. The other JUMBO I want now is a #98!

Yeah, I really wanted one of the peacock paintings. I was only $120, then I bit it up to $400 and called it quits. I really hope there is some more of his stuff out there...

Oh, I also picked this up a few weeks ago. I'd been hunting it for a while now, and the colors are 10x better than this pic: And this a day or 2 after that. It's a tad beaten, but a solid VG:

Did anyone get anything from the Estate Sale? I tried like hell to get a painting or a cover re-creation, but constantly got outbid. Seriously, I felt like it was me vs. 1 other person on over a dozen listings. I drove up the price of 1 item from $350 to $700 before I gave up. I did end up with 2 cover proofs. 1 romance and 1 war cover. Worth looking at the listings.

I love those glass display cases , very nice !! Thanks guys! They are detolfs from Ikea. $55 + the light, which is ilke $5. The big corner one was much more though.

Just picked up 2 Cole covers, and a Holiday Comics issue too. His funny animal ones aren't my favorite, but they are affordable - plus I didn't have any of those yet. I slowed down a bit after my Startling Terror Tales #10 (same one as above). I think I'm up to about 60-65 Cole books. I needs me some more romance covers!

Just got in 15 Treasury Editions from THE_BEYONDER that are awesome! Everything was packed super safe, was as described, and I couldn't be happier. THANKS MAN!!!!!

Another "gotta have it" classic cover! Send it to CGC by all means. Unless you plan on reading it again and again which is also but if you only got it for the cover then submit it! Thanks! I got it in from a guy who was selling a small GA collection that was his GRANDMOTHERS, not knowing what was he had, and this was in the stack. You don't wanna know what I paid.... let's just say I got a good deal on it. Oh, and I have read it. I had to at least once! The cover's still the best part, of course!

I posted this in the "Spare a Grade?" forum, but I thought I'd share the love. I've actually had this book for a few years, but haven't posted it yet. I never really thought I'd actually own this comic, but I'm ecstatic that I do! I think it's at about a 5.0, give or take. I'll most likely send it off to CGC soon. Whadda think? (thumbs u

Sweet book! I just popped this on ebay. That cover is just too cool, and the $ was right. I'm also paying attention to the FICTION HOUSE thread over on the sale board. I may give this one some company soon.
