  1. FACT: Warner Bros has made ONE enjoyable Superman movie, and ONE decent Superman movie. That'd be 1978 Superman and Superman II, respectively. The other four and a half movies are garbage. Just ask Anthony Mackie.
  2. The diversity in Eternals absolutely makes sense, because at the dawn of human civilization and through its development, the world's burdgeoning major civilizations are comprised of different human races in Mesopatamia, the Indus Valley, Africa, China, Northern Europe, and South America. It makes complete sense to the story that these Eternals would resemble the people they are protecting and living among.
  3. Or Makkari's deafness has to do with the fact she can travel at supersonic speeds and can break the sound barrier and create sonic booms and all that other sonic science stuff. From a practicality viewpoint, it makes sense when seen in that light. Plus, she can feel the tiniest vibrations and can apparently read lips so that makes up for it.
  4. What are you talking about? I say "fear" is the theme in Batman Begins because the word is stated and explored by every character and uttered about every ten minutes in the movie. Christopher Nolan basically hits us over the head with the darn word. Christopher Nolan has stated that BB is an exploration of fear. The only time Stark really expresses fear in Iron Man is when he is running from the terrorist ambush of the Marine convoy. Steve Rogers never shows fear in First Avenger, and that's what makes him special. Thor is too egotistical to have any fear of the Frost Giants and that's his problem. Absolutely stupid.
  5. That's a metaphor! Wrong. This is not a metaphor. It's more of an idiom. The "donkey toes" do not figuratively represent anything to with the movie symbolically. D84 gets a big fat F for that comment.
  6. I mean, come on, kav. Did you not pay attention in high school English even? A theme in art, film, or literature isn't the moral of the story or the writer's message to make the world a better place. It's the idea that pervades the work. Here's what comes up when you google theme and art... What is the best definition of theme? / (θiːm) / noun. an idea or topic expanded in a discourse, discussion, etc. (in literature, music, art, etc) a unifying idea, image, or motif, repeated or developed throughout a work. Get it? The THEME is the unifying idea of the work. It's not the message or the moral of the story.
  7. Ha ha. Sure. I bet half the forumites endlessly trolling in this thread haven't even seen Eternals.
  8. The theme of Batman Begins is FEAR. F-E-A-R. It pervades nearly every shot of the film. It's not just a tool Batman uses. The Scarecrow uses it. Every character experiences it because of Dr. Crane's fear gas. It's the theme of the movie. Here's a clue. A movie isn't its screenplay alone. A movie starts with an idea or a character or what have you. You come up with a story then turn it into a screenplay. The movie's story doesn't stop there. The casting, the directing, the acting, the cinematography and lighting, the set design, the editing, the special effects, and the music all add to the film's meaning. Get it? The meaning of the film didn't end with a skeleton screenplay that Christopher Nolan got from David Goyer or whoever wrote the movie. Even then, the idea of fear is in nearly every conversation in Batman Begins. The theme of Batman Begins is FEAR. Yes, the theme of a movie can be one word if that's how the filmmaker chooses to make the movie and Christopher Nolan has stated that Batman Begins is an exploration of fear. And yes, the theme of Eternals is humanity. It pervades nearly every element of the movie. Here are some video clips from Batman Begins to help you and others out even though I'm sure the denials and comments that you know everything will come soon enough. Again, I'm just trying to help you out here.
  9. Starring in a MCU movie is 10X cooler than being James Bond these days. Kids don't give a lick about James Bond, only older dudes.
  10. Congratulations, forumites. You've (okay we) unofficially made this thread a morass. That's a metaphor, btw. In fact, this whole thread over the past month could be a metaphor for the state of internet chatter in the world today. I wouldn't be surprised if Prime Celestial CGC Arishemike the Judge comes down to pass judgement. That's also a metaphor, btw.
  11. For you, maybe, though I'm not sure what use you would get out of Pip showing up unless you own a high grade copy of Strange Tales #179. Otherwise, a lot of fans enjoyed this movie, almost 80% of users on Rotten Tomatoes if we're to believe RT, and the film sets up things like Celestials, the Black Knight and the Ebony Blade, oh yeah Eternals, possibly Lemuria, and that Starfox guy. Not that useless.
  12. And btw, if bending over backwards to fit my narrative also involves trying to get to the truth and a better understanding of movies, particularly comic book movies, then I am guilty as charged.
  13. I'm not sure of your point in this current debate. Are you telling me that MCU teasers and trailers accurately represent the movie and that this is just a narrative I'm making up?
  14. That reminds me of that really nice shot from the Dune remake...
  15. Again, this is just a teaser trailer and doesn't define the movie. Should this trailer for No Way Home, particularly the shot at 2:20, also define the movie?
  16. Teasers and trailers are just a mishmash of images, audio, and hints of a plot, sometimes deceptively when it comes to the MCU. The Eternals trailer ends with the heroes posing on the beach, does that mean the movie ends that way? Is the trailer clip for No Way Home where we see Tom Holland's Spider-Man fighting alone against Sandman, Lizard, and Electro a legitimate clip? Is the Avengers Infinity War shot where we see Hulk fighting in Wakanda a legitimate clip?
  17. Kav has shown his knowledge to me and it's based on a gross misunderstanding of what his god Syd Field told him and the assumption that he thinks he knows everything because he's read screenplay books. As for yours I can only assume it's just being a joiner of the larger TrollMind.
  18. The quote used in this meme is nowhere to be found in the movie. This meme is "useless" other than for troll fodder.
  19. I've posted articles, quotes, and video clips pointing out the deeper subtexts within Batman Begins, Ang Lee's Hulk, and of course, Eternals. Your only response to my posts has been "I've read lots of screenplay books!" or "No, it's not!" or mockery. I missed the part where you make points with facts and analysis.
  20. At the same time, as a lifetime Marvel Comics fan, I completely trust Disney as a steward of the Marvel brand. Disney has a track record of being a gold standard of popular movie entertainment since the 1940's. Avengers Infinity War and Endgame don't happen unless Disney buys Marvel in 2010. The Disney+ MCU shows don't exist without Disney. They had the money and the clout to allow Marvel Studios to experiment a little with things like Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man. They've helped turn the Marvel brand from a niche intellectual property into a global behemoth. And Disney being the international titan that it is, Marvel Studios has been able to adapt that international savvy and that's why we're starting to see MCU movies that expand beyond America and happen in places like China, Africa, or South America. I know a lot of folks here don't seem to like that but I love it and so do a lot of other MCU fans.
  21. I just saw this. I don't think I ever said what kind of films I've made, just that I've won some awards at small film festivals. I'm here because I'm a fan of the MCU and what Marvel Studios does. Never have I said or insinuated that I worship a corporate giant, I assume you mean Disney. Now I am a fan of the animated and live action films that Walt Disney himself had a hand in. And I do love visiting Disneyland and Disney World. But I haven't seen a Pixar movie in ages. I've only seen a couple of the live action adaptations like Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Sure, I like Disney. I'm a fan of the MCU. Y'know, good comic book movies, the subject of this forum. As for Martin Scorsese, true he did bug me with his general comments about Marvel movies not being cinema when I don't believe he's never even seen a Marvel movie ( I bet somebody showed him Avengers and he had no clue what was going on), but I grew up on Martin Scorsese movies. I think I've seen Taxi Driver more than any other movie though I do have less respect for that film these days than before. I like a lot of filmmakers, but I'd say Scorsese is probably my favorite contemporary American filmmaker, as I never miss anything he does, not even the very slow Silence from a few years ago starring Andrew Garfield. To sum up, one can like the small stuff and still like the big stuff. I just limit most of my big stuff to MCU #1 and Star Wars #2, which happen to be Disney properties now.
  22. I'm not doubting you've read scores of screenplay books. Theme for a writer of a screenplay can be different from theme as seen by a poet or a film director, especially if that director is making a more "artistic" film. Yes, the theme of a movie like Captain America First Avenger is better summed up like a person's worth is the size of their heart, not the size of their biceps, or something along those lines. But for films like the Dark Knight Trilogy by Christopher Nolan who makes films more like an auteur, or film artist, the filmmaker himself has stated that for him, the theme of each film is an exploration of fear in BB, chaos in DK, and consequences in DKR.
  23. Again, I didn't say "two people having a picnic and cuddling". I said two people falling in love is tension, because the "falling" means they start from a place of no love and the story is that they come to a place of love, or not, in their attempt. That story can be as high tension and full of obstacles as a love triangle with guns or it can be as simple as a young man bringing a flower to a girl in hopes of wooing her.
