  1. On a related subject, anyone know the print run of Death: The High Cost of Living #1 Platinum Edition? I believe it was given to retailers as a thank-you for the launching of the Vertigo line with Death #1 as the first comic. My gut thought is that the print run of this would be similar to Spider-Man #1 Platinum which was given as a thank-you also and that is around 10,000 copies (which should be a much more expensive book for that print run but another subject). Anyhow, a 9.8 just sold on ebay for $500 which there are only 13 9.8's in the census. That price seems reasonable to me...
  2. Maybe the fact that these were dollar box books for decades leads to the fact that there is only 5 in 9.8 right now. I completely agree that this and tales 6 (1st Leatherhead) are really cool books. A tales 6 9.6 sold last night for $175. That has low census numbers also.
  3. Wow...$1k for tales #4. Crazy price for first rat king... https://www.ebay.com/itm/353465000296?hash=item524c27e168:g:jH4AAOSwGSpgf2s4
  4. Thanks! Here is the trio (1st, 2nd, 3rd). Uber excited!
  5. Wait for an Eastman (or Laird) private signing, and submit your books for authentication and signing. One of them (Eastman or Laird) will authenticate and sign or not authenticate. The books then go to CGC for grading if authenticated or back to the entity sponsoring the signing if not authenticated. Once graded, they are returned back to the entity which held the signing (in my case, TOSS comics) and then are sent back to you. Pretty simple process really if you make arrangements ahead of time. I am not gonna lie, it was a bit nerve racking while counting on the U.S. Postal Service to be part of this process and deliver the books and deliver on-time.
  6. No gold but my GG's. Tim from The One Stop Shop in MA helped me get my GG's authenticated a few months back. I have had them for years and even had the insides signed by Peter and Kevin before slabbing but, alias, not authenticated. They were signed in gold signature really pops in my opinion especially when looking at them in hand...hoping to get Peter to sign the cover at some point in my life.
  7. But it's not a comic book, remember? So "first apperance on a cover" has no comic book connotation...
  8. Nope, not a comic but the first apperance on a cover of miles morales. No one has to like it. No one has to buy it. But that is the fact.
  9. Just to be clear...this is the first appearance on a cover. Predates UF4 by 3 months. And only 6 on the census in 9.8.
  10. Thanks for the info...It sold for $85. Rare on the CGC census and an early turtles cover so may be worth picking one up...
  11. Anyone know the background on independent comic book sampler #2 that they would like to share? Here is a link to a recent sale...Wondering if there is a new TMNT story or what is behind these prices for this book. Def a cool cover...! https://www.ebay.com/itm/Independent-Comic-Book-Sampler-2-1988-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-BB408-/393059875623?hash=item5b8431bb27%3Ag%3APv8AAOSwoQZf257Q&nma=true&si=z%2FmBpfz5YdYhWuKYPvl9lN8tDHs%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  12. Possibly another one. There are only two on the census after 25 years so the scarcity may be there. So it all boils down to the popularity of Thrawn.
  13. Just did a quick calculation and if one simply looks at the "market cap" of the 9.8's and compare UF#4/MP#95 to Spawn#1/MS#13 and neglect popularity (Spider-Man is many times more popular than Spawn), I estimate the FMV of MP#95 to be much higher than the $10k it is currently at. And my opinion is this book has room to grow once one factors in the popularity of Miles Morales.
  14. Agreed on UF4. But I believe the scarcity is driving this book. 2446 9.8's on the regular version of UF4. Even the 1:25 has 157 9.8's. MP#95 has 6. I'm not arguing first appearance, what count's, whom is right or wrong, etc. Just there is definitely a market for this book...
  15. I would not bet against this book and I believe many will regret not picking it up...
  16. I believe it is legit. Look at Malibu Sun 13 right now. This was speculated on even before spawn came out. No one cared about MP#95 until May of this year. So it is much more scarce than MS#13 for the first appearance of a character which is much more popular (Spider-Man). Also, MS#13 came out in 1992 so it is 20 years older...so ask yourself where will MP#95 be in 20 years? The answer is it depends where Spider-Man is in 20 years but I think this book will be even more of a monster as time goes on...
  17. Nope, not predicting the outcome in any way as things can change in the 22 days that are left. Only commenting on all the love that GG #1 gets out of the gate while GG #2, which was released at the same time, doesn't seem to get the same attention. Again, that may change and I would expect the spread to tighten up as we get towards the end. To use your marathon analogy, I simply commented on the fact that it is note worthy that one runner is at mile 12 while the other runner is at mile 1 with both runners being fairly comparable.
  18. I agree with what you are saying. My only point is that it seems the first inclination is to give the GG #1 all the love when, it seems, the loved should be shared to both #1 and #2. Not the 12:1 ratio that is currently is (yes, I am referring to the price with BP) so, at this point knowing what we know, that #2 is a steal at that price. Both the books have "now on sale" and everything I have read tells me there were "released" at the same time. Also, census shows five #1's and only two #2's.
  19. These prices are nuts. So the Gobbledygook #1 at HA is $12k (with BP) with 23 days left which is just sick! The #2 is only at $1k. I don't get the discrepancy given that they both came out at the same time and there are less #2's on the census verses #1's (yet both being minuscule numbers). My gut tells me that #2 will go much higher that where it currently sits at...
  20. Wow. A blue label 7.0 is already at $9.6k (with BP) with 7 days to go on HA.com. Amazing. https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/alternative-underground/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-1-mirage-studios-1984-cgc-fn-vf-70-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7236-92299.s?ic2=mytracked-lotspage-lotlinks-12202013&tab=MyTrackedLots-101116 Also, a month long turtle auction starts tonight with some nice stuff (gobbledygook, TMNT #1, etc) so this should be fun: https://comics.ha.com/c/auction-home.zx?saleNo=40162&ic=breadcrumb-comics-121913-interior
  21. Check out these going in for grading. The gold sigs really pop on the black and white cover https://www.instagram.com/p/CG-vcM2Blty/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
  22. So what about the 5 page preview in marvel age 97 vs darkhawk? Those five pages are right out of the comic book. Should darkhawk #1 be considered a reprint? Playing devils advocate here in case that isn't clear....
