  1. Is this a quality control issues with the little bubbles all over the inside seal.

Never seen this before and it’s kinda ugly.
bought from a Guy I know bought from before have no reason to think it’s tampered with matches the graders notes.

This looks the same all the way around the entire out side of the book.

is this just a bad job on cgc part.

  2. I can understand label mishaps and they don’t control shipping small mistakes will happen any times humans are involved we aren’t perfect.

However it would make sense and show some good will for them to be proactive in trying to keep fix everything they can. I’m sure they are insured god forbid that hurricane hit where they are located with a storm surge that’s huge and there goes all of our comics.

What do you have your setting at seems like they are a little over contrasted not to be offensive I’m just still dialing mine in.

I have on the unit 25 for contrast and that seems almost identical

Did I miss where you approximate the grade? I thought that was required on the forum I was just curious anyway been looking for a good copy of this book and it’s hard to tell when it’s not a scan for me.

  5. Got my scanner tonite I don’t have time to upload any images but will do so over the weekend and to my eye it’s great. A 600pi image takes about 30-45 sec and a 300pi image takes about 10sec

The 300 poi is really a good image depending on how close you really need to get I find colors to be pretty accurate out of the box with out adjustments.

I plan on playing around with it this weekend and will upload pics.

Scanning utility has many options/settings but here is my raw untouched scan of the same book - note that I scan slabs in 600pi and the invision forum software will compress that quite bit in this post.

How much memory does a 600pi image take?

Same back cover with my a320e. I use the DocuAction bundled with the scanner and an version of Photoshop I've had since 2008.

Awesome mine comes tomorrow I’m hoping I don’t need photoshop since I don’t have it. I could get the photoshop lite white h I believe is the elements version. I’m really hoping whatever included software will work for me.

Can someone recommend me a quality scanner that I don't have to use Vuescan for?

I believe that the a320e is the one that people have had success with on the boards it’s more expensive but have seen some good results with it. Mine is coming tomorrow I will try to upload a few pictures of it doesn’t arrive to late.

My flatbed was much better and I could adjust the color. Now I gotta order a new scanner and I've got slabs coming back and can't sell them till the new one shows up.  I miss the days of being able to walk into a store and finding what you need and coming home with it. Now it's "Oh, that's on our website"

There is a flatbed that’s quicker than the older ones that’s been mentioned a few times and it’s Available from bestbuy which has a 30-60 day return policy the a320e. It looked like it took pretty good scans from the pics I saw.

for me I’m more concerned about raw books then slabs I guess. Just to show any issues the other thing would be you still may end up using your phone to show the spine so your still going to end up taking pictures I’m afraid.

I just purchased a CZUR Aura-X Pro based off what I've seen in this thread. Got one used for $160, which seems like a very fair price.

I needed something that can be easily folded and tucked away without taking up much room. Will need to test in in hand to see the actual scan quality.

How have you liked this scanner it’s in my budget and seems like it could work.

    Basically

It is still a work in progress with most fundamentals running as they should. Their volume went up and their margin of error did too, assuming due to volume. Prices went up, because they hired new people and expanded the facilities, so we're in the training ground phase

    Or something like that

Appreciate you filling me in. With that said is it a better idea to wait until things settle down or is this the new normal.

  12. Appreciate you filling me in it’s been several years. I kept collecting but not grading. My problem has always been that I don’t like to sell stuff so I buy a ton until I’m forced to sell in order to upgrade books. But needless to say I was unaware of some of these things happening. To be honest up not sure what your even talking about when you say “rings” apologies for my ignorance but I still think cgc is better than the other options.

  13. Hoping for some help for my use case. I need to scan both graded and u graded books and also cards. I collect comics and also marvel and star wars Pokémon cards.

Ideally it would be able to scan quickly accurately and separate images as well for the cards. I have to catalog everything for insurance and I feel I like It could take weeks If not longer.

I like the ones that look to stand up on a table edge would work perfect for me or just a dedicated scanner that would do both would be fine as well.

Appreciate any thoughts or opinions thank you all.

  14. Do you guys think it’s just newer books or the modern tier speed grading that’s causing the problems. I haven’t seen a ton of complaints about silver and Bronze Age personally but that doesn’t mean it is t happening.

Also has cgc replied to this thread to try and alleviate any concerns at all?

Im a little concerned haven’t been on the boards for a while didn’t want to submit while cgc was on Covid overload and now I have 3 silver age books I really want graded and I can’t imagine them with any other label than a cgc label.

They clearly have some issues but they are better than what else is out there.
