  1. HA! I'm living proof of that on CL. In November 2018, two "id1ots" auctioned my MSH #13 CGC 9.6 up to $31K!
  2. I first visited Greg's original store in Etna PA when I was 14. Living in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, my Dad would take me on my bi-annual pilgrimage with saved allowance in hand. Still remember my Dad getting on my case when I walked out of the store with a coverless Avengers #2 and #4 that I'd paid $12 for. As I grew older his store on Federal Street, his second store in Squirrel Hill and then Penn Ave became my regular weekly comic shop. When I became a father, my three kids would accompany me as they'd inherited their Dad's love of comics. Over the years I bought substantial new and older books from Greg including FF#1. When I moved east of Pittsburgh, I started going to another local shop but would visit Eide's when I was downtown. RIP Greg. You will be missed. My condolences go to your friends, family and employees.
  3. I vote the MSH 13 at CGC 9.6. Carol Danvers with no powers is in about 5 panels in the book. At least with the others you knew you got a full story about the character throughout the book. And it must kill the buyer to know they overpaid that much on movie hype but there is one person out there holding a CGC 9.8.

  6. I started selling my collection on the CL Exchange and Auctions in August 2018. On my third auction now. Books I want to be in complete control of sales $ for I sell on the Exchange but it takes longer. I have noticed the last auction seemed a little weak but I averaged out to -5% GPA. I wondered whether that was due to CL starting to charge state sales tax now and buyers compensating auction offers for that. To be honest, I haven't fret too much about it as I figure it all averages out and CL has been very responsive in their services to me. I hit big on my first auction (MSH 13, CGC 9.6 for $31K) so it will take me a long time to average out overall after that shocker.
  7. The MSH #13 CGC 9.6 sold in the CL November Feature Auction for $31,111. Hype is an amazing thing.
  8. Yes, this sale will completely move the MSH 13 curve on Go.Collect. I think the last 9.6 they had listed sold back in 2003 or something.
  9. I have no idea. I didn't dream mine would go that high for a character first appearance with no powers, only appearing in 5 panels! Some people believe the movie will be huge.
  10. My MSH 13 CGC 9.6 is doing very well in the November Featured Auction on ComicLink proving its HOT!
  11. My MSH 13 CGC 9.6 is on the ComicLink November 2018 Featured Auction and is doing very well, so I've exited the club except for my coverless reading copy.

  13. I apologize for not responding earlier, I've been tied up with other things for the past couple weeks. As I said, in my original post, from a collector perspective, if I was going to keep the book, I know I would eternally regret my decision to do Restoration Removal. I was very sad when I saw the removal results. I was selling the book and I knew the impact that a PLOD would have. From THAT perspective only, I made the right decision. The most I'd been offered for the Restored CGC 4.0 book was $5K. When I put the Universal CGC 3.5 book on ComicLink Exchange, it sold in about 15 minutes for $12K, my Ask Price. I agree with the comment that it shows how hot the FF#1 is right now that a book with this amount of restoration removal would sell that fast. I ask that regular commenters not get too mad at newbies slow in responding/commenting. In the future, I will try to do better. Sometimes things just come up! And I beg forgiveness from the collectors who were upset that I'd done so much damage to a GREAT book, just for money. I'm gifting all profits in selling my collection to my kids and my church.
  14. I'm NOT putting this topic on here to complain about CGC/CCS or their services. I've been collecting for 50 years and have decided recently to start to sell off my 20K+ book collection. Sent my first four books into CGC for grading just to try the process out. One of them was my FF#1 which I'd purchased from an LCS soon after I'd started collecting. It was always one of my prized books. I love the FF. It came back Restored/Slight C-1, Grade 4.0, Grader Notes (Color touch (Non-archival material small areas) Center Front Cover C-1, Color touch (Non-archival material small areas) Full Bottom Front Cover C-1, Light subscription crease front cover breaks color, Readers crease front cover breaks color, Small, multiple smudge back cover) I was surprised as I'd never noticed the restorations before. After looking carefully with a lighted magnifier, I did see the red ink added to the title letters along the center crease, but did not see any other restorations. I had other collectors and LCS look too and they agreed. After looking at Go.Collect and GPA, comparing what I thought I'd be able to sell the book for if I did CCS screening / restoration removal / CGC regrade / Universal vs. selling it as a Restored 4.0, I decided to gamble and resubmitted to CCS/CGC. I got the image of the regraded book today. My first reaction was that I had seriously injured one of my children! The attached comparison front and back covers are attached. The regraded book is Universal, Grade 3.5, Grader Notes (Light creasing to cover, Multiple hole cover, Readers crease front cover, Small tear center of spine, Subscription crease front cover). My question is: Do you think I made the right decision strictly from a book FMV standpoint since I'm planning to sell my books? From a collector perspective, if I was going to keep the book, I know I would eternally regret my decision to do Restoration Removal. Live and Learn.
