  1. This is a sensible reply and the probably the one logical criticism that I've heard in over a year. Still, a lot of comments are drawing a line and putting emotionally unattached speculators on one side and passionate collectors on the other. I have many interactions with people who use the app, some are very heavily interested in speculation but they are also huge comic book fans and enjoy researching and being involved in it. I can't imagine there would be many people who would get into the hobby on any level without being interested in the subject matter. There are also reasons someone might speculate and sell their comics. New comic books are $4. Key issues from every era can be costly. In 2019, collecting comics doesn't fit into many restricted budgets. If someone is supplementing their weekly purchases or back issue wish lists by selling other issues, who's to say its a bad thing? No one can say for certain what someone is doing with their money or comics

  3. Thank you. Yes, anyone who would be kind enough to share any feedback please do not hesitate. If you have any thoughts on what we could implement that would make your experience collecting more enjoyable, please send along.
  4. Im familiar with Mike's amazing world of comics. i havent had a chance to look at your link yet but when I do, if the information is legitimately cited to support your claim, I will adjust accordingly. Thank you. Hopefully this settles your continued participation on this post because I would imagine anyone who's reading it is bored and irritated since its been the source of debate on many other threads. Have a safe and Happy Memorial Day weekend
  5. Ive read through plenty of CGC posts of dealers having a conversation about this where some have remember 252 coming out first and others recall 141 arriving first and there are still others who have mentioned inconsistencies because of newsstand deliveries. The point is, its not clear - people's recollection of what was delivered to them 35 years ago is not enough for me to state as fact. The fact is, they have a published date in May - #252 is a great cover and the most sought after so call it what you want. Beyond that, whats the point of continuing a conversation that can't be resolved. I appreciate your attention to this...but I would imagine you have better things to do with your life as do I.
  6. Who said anything about looking on the internet? If I can't point to a source that tells me that it is the first appearance than I'm not going to include the information and call it accurate. There are three books released in the same month where we're first introduced to the black costume in-story. As far as your comment goes, you should copy and paste it to @Lazyboy most recent reply
  7. That's an easy way out. I use many different resources for my information but most importantly, the actual comics
  8. well how about some information to back it up. isn't that what this conversation is about? accurate information? why are you so sure that ASM 252 is the first app of the black costume. awesome time travel joke...
  9. Thank you. Yes it has issues. Over 14k. As far as imperfections, there are adjustments to the organizational aspects of the app. I am not aware of any incorrect data in the app as it currently stands which is not to say there is or there isnt. I'm just not aware of any. When it is brought to my attention and I can research the claim that it is incorrect, the correction is made and displayed immediately
  10. there's that. also a few who don't know how to be interesting or engage the attention of others without being negative
  11. Again, its reassuring to hear your experience. For the record, it took over 2.5 years to build the database before launching and I don't mean casually working on it. I mean 5-10 hours a day if not more. Whatever time I could spare outside of my previous job. Had it been plagiarism pulled from an overstreet, it probably would've taken me 2.5 weeks to complete.
  12. Thank you @comicdonna. I'm not sure what the kinks are. If the guy is referring to ASM 252 being the 1st appearance of the black costume then I'd like to see some reasoning for it. I've researched it and have seen some retailers claim they recall when it came out while others had a different claim so without going by conjecture, I'll stick to the months published as printed in the indica. I'm happy to make adjustments to any data that is incorrect but having a detractor on a message board express his opinion isn't a strong enough reason to make the change
  13. as it is currently we'll feature different categories and one of them could be best one-shots or influential storylines - reader categories along those lines. there are a few "reading order" categories now like Death of Superman and others
  14. i think the key status would apply to filters - so if you want to look at 1st appearances of top tier character it would allow such a customization etc
  15. @Bookery there's actually a website that has all of the same information. Its not as well-optimized as the app but we're working on it. It'll suffice though to show you what the resource entails and also that its not plagiarism. That's actually the first time anyone has ever made that accusation. Last year at SDCC I was invited to lunch by the Geppi's who own Overstreet and they expressed how much they enjoyed the app
  16. Thank you so much for your comment. I really appreciate it and enjoyed reading about your experience. I'd appreciate any other advice you might have on the subject if you had any thoughts. Again, thank you
  17. as i said...up for debate. it'd be more appropriate to post irrefutable proof that this is considered the first appearance of the black costume
  18. Thats a topic that is debated to the point of boredom. Even the company who’s forum were chatting in produces labels that disagree with your statement.
  19. There is a definition for the word key that could be interpreted by different people when it comes to something very personal to them like their comic collection or the types of comics they like to collect. As we add more filters, I hope you will enjoy it more
  20. Gran Turino is back. Its not a lie. I misunderstood you. Thanks for clarifying
  21. I think thats really a fantastic idea. Thank you. Yes then you can filter by the rating. Or price I suppose but maybe have a crowd sourced rating (provided people don't try to create bogus ratings...we'd have to see). Thank you for that suggestion. Please reach out with any others.
