  1. I own two sets of Kyle Webster brushes, one for watercolour, one for zip atone effects. I found them to be inexpensive and useful. They sell something called Megapack. A friend who worked as a penciller for Marvel and DC said that there is a brush in megapack that works very much like a windsor newton #3. I haven't tried it but you might go to their site (easy to find) and check it out. They also have tutorials on youtube.
  2. I always love this thread. My lettering is done by hand. I sent off Chapter One, the first 27 pages to Caliber Entertainment on April 20th. The second chapter is just about ready and I hope to have it off this weekend. I will put another page or two up.
  3. Here is a random page from my story which could be called "Five Sweet Boys from Toronto Go to New York" but I opted for "Tower of the Comic Book Freaks". Here we see our five sweeties walking through Times Square in 1971.
  4. The Comic Book is finished except for graphic design, colouring, editing and everything else but writing, pencils, inks and letters. Here is the cover for the online version of chapter one. Book version will come out after the chapters have been on line.
  5. I am about a month away from finishing the inks on my upcoming graphic novel (then comes the colours). I am starting to do the graphic design as well. Here is one of the pages that will be there before the story begins.
  6. Welcome to the boards. Welcome to general comics. Welcome to the artist's corner. Great to see your contribution.
  7. I assume you copied Van Gogh. When I looked at it I said, "Looks like a Van Gogh".
  8. I got it from Comicraft. I am almost certain that I bought it on their January 1st half price sale for $10.
  9. Just wanted to say... I liked this again. It makes me smile I like it too. It is a world I had never seen.
  10. About the Graphic Novel. It is a 200 page story. With chapter breaks and additional single page stories it comes to 216. With an afterword, a preface, acknowledgements and all the other stuff I don't know how long it will be. It is contracted to Caliber. It will come out first as a series of on line comics then as a paper book. But I have to finish it. I have about 65 pages of inking to do then I will colour it chapter by chapter to expedite the internet publication. Here is another page.
  11. Hi, Artboy. The only one not on your computer is Great Lake NF. I got it for free off the internet. If you can't find it let me know. Also, the lettering-like-a-comic-book font is Joe Kubert which I purchased for, I think, $10.
  12. This is my fake aged poster for the fake 1971 Comic Art Convention in New York. I decided on using a computer font because it looks just like the word balloons Marvel was using on the covers at the time. I hope it is convincing. It is for my graphic novel, "The Tower of the Comic Book Freaks". I will be finished it in about two months.
  13. Looking forward to it Thank you Three cheers for Spike!
  14. Frazetta makes painting the naked ladies look so easy. I don't know that he has ever tried fruit though. Of course on the naked ladies he will paint a pair.
  15. It is completely sincere. In the two pictures we saw a master, Jake, take a scene and work it up ten fold. I printed out both pictures to remind myself how far a good artist can take a good idea. They now sit over my drawing board. Thanks for the art lesson.
  16. I have that image on a T-shirt but it would be even better if it mentioned Hanukah.
  17. Forgive me, but what is S. M. ? Superman? Spider-Man? Sergeant Marvel? Something else I have never heard of or thought of? Help me! It's a self published comic I do called Spike Mulligan. A friend does the covers, I do the rest. Issue # 6 is the next to be completed. Thanks, Senormac.
  18. Forgive me, but what is S. M. ? Superman? Spider-Man? Sergeant Marvel? Something else I have never heard of or thought of? Help me!
  19. If you are into photoshop I bought the brush set from Kyle T Webster for under ten dollars. He (they) have several free brushes as well. I will be buying more from him. I like this a lot. I like the design and really like the colors you chose.....very nice.
  20. Bought a set of watercolour brushes for photoshop and experimented. Part way through I thought what I was doing had a certain flair. I built upon it and saved it.
  21. I have not seen it..... but the picture is completely spontaneous and took about 2 minutes, if that long There is an undercover cop in the art class who can't draw so he does the sort of thing you might expect of a kid in grade six. The teacher and the other kids think he is brilliant.
  22. There's an honesty and a spontaneity about it. Ever see "Art School Confidential"?
