  1. Publications are credited to Paul Levitz, Paul Kupperberg and Steve Gilary. There are the 1973 Warren Awards for Dubious Achievements in the Industry. There is a special space for a Heidi Saha autograph. There is a short Bill Dubay comic strip. There is an ad asking for contributions from an unamed publisher which (I'm pretty sure) has Warren's phone number attached to it and a back cover with a painting of Creepy, Eerie and Vampirella on it. It has a lot of others stuff too promoting all publishers and many cartoonists from as far back as the golden age. At the time, it seemed to have a lot of Warren stuff, though going through it now, there is not as much as I thought. His does get the front and back covers though. At the time Warren seemed like a smaller publisher and there was certainly a lot in there about Warren considering his status. The word was also that he had a hand in the publishing though surprisingly Levitz and the others are listed as being in charge of the publications.
  2. I know it took a while but here is the 1973 program booklet from the Seuling Convention. Jim Warren was the guiding force on it. Is it considered a Warren Publication?
  3. Fascinating thread. For me there is only one choice for best story. (The envelope) On the Wings of a Bird by T.Casey Brennan and Jerry Grandenetti. It was the first comic story that was philosophical in tone rather than being plot or violence driven. It won "Best Story" probably in 1973 and deserved it. Here is a question. Jim Warren published Phil Seuling's comic convention program booklet in 1973 and it had a distinctly Warren flare about it. Is it considered a Warren book? Do Warren completists treasure it? Ron
  4. I have purchased and enjoy the Tales to Astonish and Tales of Suspense Marvel Masterworks Volumes 1 and 2. Does anyone have knowledge of when Volume #3 will come out?
  5. I have created over three hundred portraits. This is one of my most ambitious ones. It is 24" by 30". The skin doesn't look red on the original.
  6. Special thanks to Larry-- Karma23 for showing me how to put up a picture. After six hundred or so postings I can now illustrate them. This is a picture of "Kalabogie Jake" the only character that I have that has seen publication more than once. It was done for a display by Canadian artists of the slightly Canadian character Superman. I was too intimidated to really draw Superman. That's his trademark curl though, in the background. If you google "Joe Shuster Awards" then click on the link you will find Superman drawings by Dave Sim, Dave Ross, Todd McFarlane, Tom Grummett, and many other Canadian illustrators whose names you are less likely to recognize.
  7. I would like to submit here but after searching and going to the water cooler I am still at a loss. Could one of you refer me to a post on how to put up an image? My thanks.
  8. I'm pretty sure the movie is KRAMER VS. KRAMER. Dustin Hoffman is at the breakfast table with his son reading the newspaper. His son is reading a copy of Thor. I haven't seen the movie in quite a while so confirmation would be nice.
