  1. They look awesome, though as a coin collector and a comic collector, I don't feel comfortable with the mixing of precious metals. I get that irky feeling as someone stated above.

i was never an expert in the comic crash of the 90s so I'm sure there lots I don't understand (so don't mind me, kids!) however when I see 15 variants of the same comic with a price tag of $14.99 each spread out at my LCS my brain, like, goes DANGER! DANGER! DANGER! DANGER!

If it were more reasonably priced I would purchase it as a novelty but not necessarily a collectors item. $300 is a bit over priced for 1 oz of silver even it if it comic book shaped. I have silver coins from the roman era that were of less cost than these and those are considered antiquities which will gain value. 50-100 I would buy one, but with 300 you could try and get a semi-key or key, depending on which comics you follow, an have a better chance of the value going up. Just my opinion though.

  2. I may have to check out CLZ, see how it work and compare. After reading the comments I went back to CG and noticed they do have a Condition fill in spot as well, which will be pretty awesome to use, I can note down what grade my CGC copies are. I'll have to do some more exploring on the app, I am sure I haven't seen all the functions lol.

  3. Which do you prefer or use? Pros? Cons? Likes and Or Dislikes?

I am using Comic Geeks for the Droid, so far it has been a good experience. I've only had 1-2 issues while using their bar code scanner, it will not pick up properly but after typing in the comic I am trying to add to my collection, located and added. The scanner feature is nice as it tends to add it to my collection right away. I like that the comics that I have added, come complete with variants. So you can add the variant to your collection. That being said, some are missing variant covers. You can also view other peoples collections in the community, follow people or have followers. I have yet to see a monthly fee or any kind of fee really.

Variants I could not locate were for Zenescope Gwenom VH v.s. The Werewolf 3 ECCC 1/350

    Pros:

    • Free so far
    • Community to follow or for followers.
    • Tons of comics to add
    • Scanner auto adds to collection
    • Variants
    • Reviews and possible discussions
    • Synopsis of some of the comics.

    Cons:

    • May not be free, may not have hit the cap for adding to collection
    • Scanner can be buggy/ manual search tends to find them
    • Missing some variants for issues, listed above.
    • Possibility of 2 or more Category splits, Key example, Spider-Gwen Had 2 Categories, 1 only contained issues 1-5? or 6...while the other contained all current and up to date.

  4. I'd recommend reading up on how CGC grades and what they look for. Ive been trying to practice in the PGM/Please Grade My Forum, seeing what is posted then trying to get a est for myself before viewing what other more experienced graders have to say. I will admit I do not have it down fully but I have gained a bit of knowledge from looking on there.

  5. So below is a Spiderman / Venom #375 issue, I picked several up at a thrift store because they were super cheap and had like 3 copies. I was looking at them because I want to send at least one to get graded but then I noticed this. There appears to be clamping cuts at the bottom, this is all 3 comics. Is this normal? Or damage caused by previous owner? Will it affect grading?

    Thanks ahead of time.

  6. One shop in my area didnt really close down but they did move and cut down the space from what they were. That is just one though, there are still plenty of other shops about but theyre few and far between, which is why I think they have survived so long. About 20 years ago when I was in my teens, shops were everywhere around here, not so much anymore and I think that due to so many being in one general area that the buyers were split between all the stores.

    As for the other portion

That guy at comicpalooza is just a wanker :p

I know comic people can be eccentric, but one that curses and taunts has not been my experience.

To be fair, ive been to several cons and that one time is the only time iv'e really seen it first hand. Which kind of threw me for a loop, new exp, I can only assume maybe he was having a bad day or w/e.

Also thank you for the welcome :D

  8. While the condition does matter, just more curious of others had exp things like that and how it was handled. I don't mind waiting for someone to bust the comic out so I can see, more than likely Ill buy it as im already interested to that degree. Just was wondering if it was a somewhat of a common thing to have requests like that refused entirely.

  9. So....I have just started getting more into comics, not that I wasn't a fan before but, more of a reader now turned collector. Anyways, I have been going to cons and buying books here and there to start building a small collection, I have run into a few dealers that refuse to let you take the comic out to make sure it is intact. I more recently started asking to do this as I got slightly burned on one purchase, wasn't very expensive about 10-15 bucks, but after I got the comic home I wanted to inspect it and saw that the entire back was torn up. I've also had dealers just start cussing at me because I don't want certain variants that they're selling. Key example, comicpalooza was looking for a Spider-Gwen Venom variant, guy had a issue #1 from Mexico but not what I was looking for, told him I was not interested and he started cussing me out that I couldn't afford it anyways and I wasted his time. So as a newbie, I was curious as to how some of you out there handle dealers like this? It's very aggravating but I don't want to get into a yelling match at a con, so I just tend to step away. Is there certain etiquette to asking someone to see the comic fully? Should I just be automatically worried if someone doesn't want to actually present the item?

    Thanks In Advance

  10. So im trying to figure out the best road to go down, buying slabbed 9.6 roughly 100 or buying this one here at about 30-35 plus cgc fees and trying to shoot for a 9.8 Though I am still very new at the grading I wanted to get opinions as to possible land. I am kinda worried about one corner. the back spine end. Aside from that the book appears to be in great shape.

  11. He was pretty well aware this time around. His handler wasn't saying much just handing him the stuff. Ran into a friend who was trying to get one signed as well, he had the Dyn and I brought a backup of DH from 93? His DD got turned away by Bruce himself. I quickly swapped over to my DH AoD issue and had him sign that instead. Right now it is still at CGC being graded, hopefully I will see it back soon, set it on fast track.

  12. Yeah I saw the post link to the other forum. Not going to pop it in that case I'm just taking one of the other ones that I have and only reason in doing that is cuz I already spent the $350 pre purchasing on the autographs. And I don't believe there are refunds. Soooo wish me luck, maybe if I cry and sob he will feel sorry for me, but I really want that comic in my collection.

  13. Hello, I have a 9.8 Army of Darkness comic that I want to take to a Event to have signed. CGC has a booth there from what I saw, My question is, If I take it up there still sealed, will the CGC booth pop it so that I can have it signed by a actor and then send it in for SS? Would I have to try and pop it myself up there? Or am I better off getting CGC to follow me with a entirely new comic to have signed?
