  1. Here are a few Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon BLBs that have been passed down to me over the years. The Flash Gordon BLBs were well read.

Has anyone submited a BLB to the chat room "Buddy can you spare a grade..."? Would this be an appropriate chat room to get feedback on grading BLBs? Or is there someother BLB focus chat room for grading?

Also does CGC have a holder for BLBs?

    Thanks!

4.0/4.5. The creasing along the spine is not immediately obvious, but when you zoom in there's quite a bit.

Thank you for your observations and grade.

My understanding from reading the CGC webpages on CSS Pressing, is that a c/p would remove "non-color-breaking spine stress". Given that the stress marks were initially hard to see at first glance, would this comic be a good canidate for c/p? Thanks!

I used to love watching this as a kid on KTLA 5. Looks like a 4.5 to me. Cool book.

The movie was so cheaply made they used a commercial toy gun as a prop. As a kid I recognized it immeadiately.

I think it was made by Wham-O. You used a lever on top of the gun to pump it up, pulled the trigger and it shot a burst of air.  Why do I remember these things?

    Thanks for the grade!

6.0/6.5 largely due to the impacted corner best seen on the back cover bottom right corner.

If you press it out probably about a 7.0 afterward.

    Thanks for posting.

Seems like I have a bad time with corners. They are either damaged or missing. Thanks for your time and grade!

I'm not an expert, but my impression is that a standard clean (removal of surface grime) is not an effective way to remove foxing (mold that permeates the paper). It can be removed to so degree by a professional restorer. It may be a case of cost/benefit though. FMV of this in the low 9s is ~$300. I don't see a low 9 here even if there was no foxing. It depends on how much a cleaning would cost to move the needle from a $100 book to a $200 book and still keeping a universal label. Going after more aggressive cleaning makes more sense when the books are worth thousands of $$$ where improved grades can really mean a difference in asking price. Personally, I would be conservative with a book like this. Do the standard c/p and have a nice looking 6 or 7.

Good read, thanks for your insights and suggestions!
