  1. I wonder if comic book folks will ever figure out that a "remark" isn't a "mark again", but rather a "comment"...
  2. Well.. technically they weren't "RMA" comments that whole time... You haven't had one name that I can say that whole time... Your ninja skills stink. Unless you meant for those to be faintly visible. The only name that I had under which I posted was ZWH, and then ninjak1baby, which was a gift to me. I don't think I ever posted as ninjak1baby. I have another log in name, but I've only posted in stealth mode once. Maybe twice. Haven't logged on to the board in maybe two years or so. Life has moved on.
  3. It's stream of consciousness theatre in Modern today....
  4. Is there some sort of controversy with that statement? I'm pretty sure AITA wasn't mocking it.
  5. not sure why your stating the obvious, other than to say you mean only those that flip new books are the locusts. By Jove, I think he's got it! "You're" (PS. There's a nifty quote function here, makes things easier to understand.) Also, you don't have to double wrap your pics. Ain't I a stinker....?
  6. You're still a dope. +4 When you've known the guy for 13+ years, you might have the right. Until then... Holy bovine entities, Batman! I've been reading RMA comments on them internets for a third of my life?!? Well.. technically they weren't "RMA" comments that whole time... 1/3rd of my life is 14 years, so...give it another 10 months or so, and it will be true for me, too.
  7. When you live through a crash that brought Marvel within a single judge's decision of ceasing publication altogether...you tend to be a little down on the "let's just treat comics like the Franklin Mint/Stock Market!" mentality. Speculation on new comic books hurts the hobby, hurts collectors, and most importantly, hurts the very creators who make the comics. "What? How does speculating on new books hurt anybody but the speculators?" I don't have the time, or desire, to document for the 53rd time the myriad ways that this is true. It is written all over this board, in many places, already, just waiting to be found. When people are buying new comic books just to "see how much money they can make", and have zero connection to the artform itself, they will, like locusts, do massive damage and, when there's no more money to be made, will move on to the next "hot thing", caring not a damn for the artform or the carnage they've inflicted. This place has become clogged with such people in the last five years, and to those of you that this applies, I only say this: read a damn book, will you? Not sure why you would come to a thread titled "Moderns that are heating up on EBAY" and slam others, for their actions, then again don't know why you'd be reading it at all. Finally why are you on the CGC boards at all , nasty thing... that slabbing a book thing You speak without knowledge. Such practice invariably leads to conflict. To address your specific claim: no one was "slammed." Did you read what I wrote...? If you did, did you understand what I wrote....? Maybe I didn't understand then. I was understanding that you were comparing anyone that buys a new book to flip to a locust. Correct. Not correct. Not all moderns are new books, though all new books are moderns.
  8. Admit it. It was the Bobo Feet discussion, wasn't it...? Yes this inspired me. Jello molds! Did you know that gelatin is made by boiling down hooves..? Bobo's hooves? Damn it! CIE!!
  9. Isn't the upside limit at least slightly related to the value of an original Boba Fett action figure? It's a comic, no doubt... but this particular one is referencing the action figure. There are lots of other Boba Fett modern variants that are just cool Boba Fett art. I wouldn't think so, but I've been wrong before. Outside of the decoration that looks like the original Kenner action figure packaging, does this cover really invoke the coolness of the original Boba Fett action figure packaging? Honestly, the original Boba Fett action figure packaging would make a better comic cover than this one and the art is infinitely cooler. This is just a picture of Boba Fett's head and a drawing of the action figure. I think it's a sweet cover to add to all the other Action figure variants. It looks semi-vintage with a modern twist. For $20 for only 5000 made, is worth every cent to me. It'll go great right next to my Luke AF variant 9.8 Star Wars 4 Life!! \m/ \m/ The look is definitely very cool, and once they're done, I would be interested in getting a slabbed 9.8 SS run of them. That would be cool. I hope they go with the originally named "Death Squad Commander" instead of the later "Star Destroyer Commander". Also, the vinyl cape Jawa That would be pretty cool. They could even do a Revenge one....

  11. I did. It didn't. (thumbs u You know, that does go a long way towards explaining things...

  16. How do you know? And are you aware that it's almost never about the participants, but the observers...?
  17. You're right, how I choose to spend my money is totally your business. From now on, I'm running all my spending past you. Why are your thoughts on hydro? I mean, ya, lights and heat are great, but it's not an IH181.... I dunno man... Advice? I have no idea what Hydro is. If it's the guy from the 1940s, that's not a new limited variant. If it's the guy from 1981's ASM #212, that's not a new limited variant. If it's the guy from Mortal Kombat, that's not a new limited variant. If it's the villain from Power Rangers, that's not a new limited variant. If it's a scantily-clad female on a super-limited variant printed in 2015... yeah, I'm probably against you buying that. If you're selling... well... sell, sell, sell... because that's a worthless comic in the making. So, what you SHOULD do and what you ACTUALLY do can be two different things. People SHOULD be smart. Many aren't. You're in good company. (thumbs u I can't argue with people like you. You see things one way and that's the only way. Yes people buy to resell, but a lot of people buy because they like it. If you make some cash, cool. If you don't, you knew it was a risk when you bought. In the end, they're comic books, and it's a hobby. If it's your business, completely different set of rules. But for most people on here, you SHOULD buy what makes you happy. Telling people they aren't smart because they don't agree with your point of view is pretty closed minded, inconsiderate and narcissistic. I guess that depends on what forms that point of view, really. If one's point of view is based on nothing but feelings and emotions, and is devoid of empirical evidence of any kind...like, say, "Deadpool is the coolest character ever created, and if you don't agree, you're stupid!"...I would agree, that is pretty closed-minded, inconsiderate, and narcissistic. However...if one's point of view is based on empirical evidence, data, experience, and other such pieces of tangible information, and not on feeling and emotions, then it becomes an informed opinion, and not closed-minded, inconsiderate, or narcissistic at all. After all...if someone was to run around and think the moon was made of gouda cheese, insist it was so, despite all evidence to the contrary, and MY point of view is that it's composed of rock, minerals, and other material similar to the Earth's composition, would I be closed-minded, inconsiderate, and narcissistic if I dismissed that cheese guy as "not smart"...? If someone says that people aren't smart because they are doing dumb things, like buying multiple brand new variants in the hopes that they will make money on it, are they being closed-minded? That's not smart. The market is littered, stuffed to the gills, with variants that are worth less than they cost when brand new. For every 1 variant that "hits", 200 have not. There's more than enough empirical evidence to demonstrate that such behavior is "not smart"...it's an informed point of view, based on evidence that cannot be easily dismissed. So, your charge is probably without merit. BUT I DON'T LIKE WHAT THEY SAID SO THEY'RE POOPY HEADS! To be fair, you did say he wasn't smart. And it's certainly not the first time you've been accused of being single-minded... I said he wasn't smart if he thought I wasn't making a good case. What was my case? I said that buying "limited" variants JUST BECAUSE they're "limited" isn't smart. I said that there should be something ELSE in there when you put that money down. If the something ELSE is something worthless, like "random scantily clad female" or "random first appearance of no one", that's probably not a good spend of money. If, however, the something ELSE is... "I REALLY WANT THIS" then by all means, get it. Get 100 if you want 100. But, since NONE of us can afford every quantity of every comic ever produced, we make our decisions based on something... or nothing. I'm advocating that people make decisions based on a solid footing. Have a reason. Have that reason be more than "it's limited". But... if your heart loves the heck out of scantily-clad female first appearances of new characters printed this year... go for it, buddy. I'm sure she'll love you back in your dreams no matter what her comic is worth. (thumbs u If someone says 2 + 2 is 6 and instead I say that 2 + 2 is 4 based upon solid reasons... it doesn't mean the other guy is right or that I'm wrong for saying it's not smart to say 6. It also doesn't mean we should meet in the middle and just say 2 + 2 is 5. You're still a dope.
  18. Personally, I wish they'd bring back more of the sparkly variants of the 90's. Those were pretty cool and shiny, at least. If I had done acid, the cover to Wildcats #2 would probably have blown my mind.
