  1. Alright....slow down.

    Breathe. Breathe. Breathe.

Now will you kindly go back to your original post and edit it so that some of us that aren't psychic can get the whole story.

For instance, who is Mark Zaid, and why should I as a reader care if he identifies someone as Greg Jortner?

I'm not trying to be a here. I just want to make sure I completely understand all the information you are trying to share.

    Who is Mark Zaid....?

Come on, man, you gotta READ the boards.

  2. Here is one that just ended on Ebay for around 150 USD.

Absolutely fantastic. This is only the second #3 that I...or, I imagine, most of us here...have seen. And this copy looks to be in much, much better shape than the 7.5.

Congrats to Spreads for such a killer deal, and yes, it's unfortunate (for the seller) that eBay's system doesn't allow these European sales to show up on search list results, or I imagine it would have gone for SUBSTANTIALLY (as in perhaps as much as $1,000+) higher...if I'm being really bold, I do not think $2,000 is out of line for this particular book. It's just one of those "so rare, but no collection is complete without it" type books. #3 is, by far, the hardest of the ashcans to find, followed closely by #2 and then #1. Taking out of consideration my #2s, there have only been two sales of #2 on eBay since 1999-ish. There have been about five #1 sales, including the mini-hoard shown here:

I will contact the seller and ask about how/when/where they obtained it...with the number, I imagine they got it brand spanking new back in 1993.

By the way, JohnnyD...do you have or can you scan an ad that showed these for sale (in the early issues of Maxx)? I don't have access to my books at the moment, and would like to see one. I do have a Maxx #1 in hand, so I'll check that.

Congratulations, Spreads, I know how much the set means to you...you're 3 away from the set? I'm still 5 away. ;)

By the way...I'm still missing #1 Black, #2 Red, #3 Blue, and #2+#3 Yellows....there's several Black #2s available for trade if anyone's interested.

  3.

then the highest and only graded for this. I love this cover. I could not believe it's never been graded yet....

I searched high and low for this book. It never seemed to show up on ebay.

Snagged it on a snipe  (thumbs u

That's a full on greytone, and the slab doesn't mention it! How odd!

    very nice!

  4. lol

Someone has desperately wanted Daddy's attention for weeks, and clearly cannot handle being ignored...and that's just pathetic.

So I shall throw the poor child a bone:

    "wont"

    Mmmm...tastes like blowhard.

Most be lonely on top of that mountain of yours, Rocko.

P.S. I always thought Zephyr was hot, too.

    lol

Who...really...is the "butthurt" party, here...? The one ignoring two months worth of attempts to get the other's attention....or the one making the attempts to get someone's attention who clearly isn't interested in interacting?

And really? Calling me a blowhard is like calling Bill Gates "rich." Well done, Captain Obvious!

    lol

Now, back to our regularly scheduled program. (thumbs u

  5. i swear that some comic sellers, still have all that pent up frustration in them, from being a nerd or geek whilst growing up. :screwy:

By default, aren't all of us here still nerds and geeks?

Seriously though, you make a good point. Seems like ALL of the bad dealer have some seriously pent up anger issues.

And they are lucky as hell, and should thank their lucky stars every single effing day, that they deal in an industry...like illegal drugs...where people will put up with their bullsheist simply because they "have a book I want."

Every...single...day they should be grateful that they can be tools and still make a living.

  6. This is my favorite thread of all time. Well, not really, but it's certainly been fun so far.

I'd like to see the list of Spideys and their grade.

Will Batman 423 prove to be a fraud? Will the high grade Spideys sell for top dollar and be labeled the BL's Dad Deserves Better pedigree? Will cap locks be the end of this forum?

    Stay tuned, Bat fans....

A little bit of proof (like this supposed correspondence between nuffsaid and BL's dad) would be a good start for batfella here.

Even that proof isn't really necessary, because buttheadcollectibles outright states that there was no agreement.

No one "agrees" to "yeah, you know, whatever the grades and prices are, it doens't matter, I'll buy them all."

So, in that respect, there was no "deal" to begin with.

Hey bub...why you gotta side with BL. Yeah, so she's sweet and honest, awesome and loves comic books. So what, proves nothing, hear me! NOTHING! I'm sure neatstuff is every bit the woman that BL is and then some. :sumo:

    :gossip: Nuffsaid... ;)

Oh, and she's a girl. BL that is. I'm biologically hardwired to side with girls. It's in the genes.

  7. I bet this is all one big set up. Baltimore Lauren just wants to sell some Spideys she's got sitting around, so she created this fake eBay seller who's a real jerk. She then set up a fake relationship between her father and this fake seller, who is actually herself. She then created this thread, knowing that all the gallant and chivalrous men on here will swoop in and support her in her time of need. Soon this fake seller who is really Lauren will come in and show off all the good comics he (really she) has but can't sell because of Lauren's dad. He (she) will then claim to file a suit against Lauren's dad, promising to sue if those comics don't sell within 30 days. Again, all the gallant and chivalrous men here will swoop in and pay exorbitant prices on those comics in the hope that Lauren will notice their efforts to save Lauren's father from certain doom. All the while, BL sits back and bathes in all the money she's making from this forum of suckers.

So, like....are you saying Baltimore Lauren is a guy?

    hm

Ooh, never thought of that. So you're suggesting that maybe I had it wrong? That this seller created Lauren, who then created a fake dad, who then had an argument with the seller who created Lauren?

    Maybe....

    Work with me, now....

MAYBE this seller is actually Architect, and he created the CGC boards so he would have a place to create BOTH Lauren AND the seller, in the attempt to sell some krappy Spidey books at inflated prices...and the CGC boards have all been one 7 year long elaborate hoax leading up to this very conclusion....? And, he hired an actor to play Lauren at conventions, and set up the ebay account way back in November of 1999, knowing he would eventially have the CGC boards with which to concoct this elaborate hoax!

Think about it! It could be true!

    hm
