I already have reassessed my life. Only have DC books in my collection.

I think you are a Brilliant Man. DC SA Keys are in my opinion the final frontier, the last hoorah in the hobby, as far as unrealized value is concerned. In my honest opinion DC SA Key books are so extremely undervalued it’s Insane. The scarcity far exceeds that of Marvel Keys and sooner or later, whichever comes first the market will catch up with the hobby. Some books I will let go maybe but the Big Guns 💪 I’m keeping in the barrel for a very long time. Long Live DC 🍻🍻😀

I believe more than 1 grader looks at a book.   Size & severity also come into play in addition to a count of defects.  If you read enough posts you'll see various mentions to periods where it seems there's stricter grading or looser grading.  Maybe that relates to staff turnover.

I completely agree. I’ve seen it both ways up and down. Over grading is just as bad as under grading. You’re happy when it comes back better than you thought but over saturation of a book in certain grades on the Census can also have an adverse effect on the value, not to mention that presentation comes into play, if you choose to sell it. I do know that in their Grading Department they do have a certain amount of staff turnover and often the right and loose Grading is a direct reflection of that. This is why the Overstreet Guide to Grading still remains my go too, for trying to pre grade books

  3. I have used CCS on multiple occasions in the past, usually on books that I know were never pressed, usually Signature Series books that had Cover creasing, that I know would be removed with a good Quality press, only to have the book returned to me in the same grade with the same imperfections, and the book looked as if it hadn’t been touched by anyone other than the employees at CGC that reholdered the book, and placed it in the newer slab. For the sake of getting banned, I won’t say, who I believe would’ve gotten me a more desired result, but the list is extremely long. I can say in all honesty only once have I gotten a book back from CGC that CCS Pressed and I was happy with the result and that’s a book I got back today, and I can honestly say I was impressed with the results, prior to submission I had the book graded at an 8.5, book came back a 9.0, but the downside I think CCS probably got the book to jump to a solid 9.4, and the Graders were having an extremely Bad day or something and incredibly under graded the book. Only reason I used CCS was because I was at a private Gerry Conway signing and didn’t have an opportunity to get my book to the Presser I normally use. Needless to say after having CCS Work on 15 or 20 books in the past, on this particular book the result was exemplary!

Im considering getting some books pressed. Does anyone have any experience getting items pressed by CGC? If so what was your experience?

Any third party companies you might recommend in lieu of CGC?

Actually yes, I do know of someone and consider them to be heads and shoulders better than CGC’s sister Company ( CCS ),  isn’t this about getting the best possible result on your investment, that you can get. Forget about what’s in “Good Taste,” this is your money at play here not anyone else’s. If you want more information contact me on Instagram @Brettbarrett95 send me a DM, and check out some of the books and results from the Professional Pressing Company I had my books done with.

I've sent some of my books for Stan Lee to sign in the past for the CGC signature series. I eventually sold them as I preferred the look of a clean, unsigned cover. Now that Lee has passed, I feel like I would like to own another book signed by him but I am going to wait a while for the market to hopefully readjust itself.

Good Luck with the that, Stan Lee Signed books are stil climbing, especially on the older books he actually really worked on and it’s been almost 9 months now. I don’t think the market will ever readjust itself.

  6. People say, “There are so many out there, and Stan signs everything!” Fair enough, but does anyone here posting or replying on this thread, have a Highest Graded Signature Series Signed Stan Lee Comic, in which Stan Lee was the writer, and if so how many issues like that do you own? If you own a Highest Gradef Signature Series Stan Lee Comic, is it a Key or a Mega Key? I have another question. If you own a High Grade Mega Key, that is Signed by Stan Lee, have you checked the Census to see how many are graded Higher, than yours and the rarity of your book signed? Granted Stan Lee Signatures are everywhere and that part I get, but is what you have signed, “Rare” with the Signature as well, if so that even doubles the rarity of your book. Final Question for people that make the argument, “There are so many out there, hey won’t be worth anything,” make. For people/ collectors who do in fact have Highest Graded Signed Stan Lee books or Signature Series books with less than 5 Signed and Graded Higher, do you really think my Signed books won’t have any significant added value, even though there are only a few or none graded higher than mine, with Stan on the cover? I’m just curious! Thanks.
