  1. Pete and Dud -L.S. Bumble Bee (Was reminded of this this morning).
  2. Here's an ad for it Maurice, drawn by Bryan Talbot. Lists the kind of things they sold.
  3. Slade - Merry Christmas Everybody See ya
  4. I have trouble remembering yesterday sometimes
  5. Can't help you with the alleyway shop Steve, the bag incident sounds like the sort of thing that happened at The Popular Book Centres, where you returned books and got 50% off your next peurchse. I don't think they dealt in memorabilia though.. Books and comic Exchange used to be in Cambridge Circus area, but may have moved to Glasshouse street by 1989, I know I bought a Yellow Submarine linen backed American film poster in there at around that time. This wasn't the signing your brother and you attended,as A,D, failed to show and Mark Hamill stepped in... Here's a link to FP's archive , you may be able to find that signing date. https://forbiddenplanet.com/plu/posts/?tag=archive Clicking on the details takes you to photos of the event , or stuff like this Cinema ad from 1979, shown at the London performances of Alien.
  6. That would be this one. I found out that Top Ten Comics occupied the same location from '89-93. which was co-owned by Paul Gambacini and Jonathon Ross.
  7. Aye. different days altogether Steve. We were a nation of shop-keepers for sure back then, and it made life a bit more interesting hunting things down. This one went onto bigger things, better is debatable.
  8. I've not a clue about any of that either. My son-in-law is a Geordie, and I just generally nod and smile when he's talking
  9. I can remember passing this shop on my journey to work in the mid 70's when it was called Weird Comics.... I'd given up buying comics several years before, so never went in myself. The link below gives some info on this era of it's life..... http://transpont.blogspot.com/2012/06/quality-comics.html
  10. He had a 5 minutish cameo in it, Ken, warning people, at the end of which he was killed.
  11. There was no explanation to Burke's omission in the first place: I assume it was contractual or something, just mentioned he got the acknowledgement after his death in 2011.
  12. Geordie's are some of the nicest and friendliest people in the UK
  13. In fairness, it was Barbara Cartland's first attempt at a Batman story.
  14. All worthy suggestions, John, but I can't say I favour anyone particular in that time period, so long as I'm entertained, and they're all capable of that, I'm happy. (That's not a cop=out by the way). Like Scott, Sidney J. Fury is more than just horror, but The Entity is one of my favourites for tension.
  15. Here's the back cover for that volume for you to peruse.... Another bit of info which should interest you Maurice, is that John Burke has recently been accredited as the screenwriter for this, despite what it says on the poster.
  16. I only found out recently that The Batman stories in Smash! were reprints of the newspaper strips
  17. Ha ha, yes. Haven't seen that film in an age. Remind me, was that supposed to be Kevin McCarthy's fate?
  18. I don't think we should hold our breat on that one.
