  1. To be safe my offers were really low. Even if accepted today i'd be making out like a bandit. I hate putting in low ball offers but I had to play it safe.
  2. Welcome. Investment grade is most definately relative to the book in question IMO. A modern book that just came out and is hot receives a 9.2 by the grading company. Most people are looking for the 9.8 on a new book and wouldn't even think twice about any grade less. Now put that 9.2 on a Fantastic Four #48 and you will have swarms of potential buyers checking it out. I'll bet that the 1st appearance of Superman or Batman would interest everyone on this board in ANY grade.
  3. Nevuh feeaarrrr. Smith is here. Well not really but I always wanted to use that line. Plus i'm a little late to the party.
  4. For sure this book gets graded somewhere in the NM range. All I see thats going to keep it down is that upper right corner. There also appears to be something going on around the top staple of the back cover. It has to be an easy 9.2 with 9.4 being the more sane choice.
  5. I scrambled all night looking for a decent BIN deal but as mentioned they are all over priced to begin with. Put in 2 offers but they didn't accept or counter. How often do they do this?
  6. Attemping a snipe but not very confident. Seller is very well known.
  7. Aw man I put an offer in just hope it gets a reply soon. I had to go extra low in case its accepted afterwards.
  8. Does it end at 8 Eastern... Central...???
  9. We really need the back cover too but from what we have probably 7.0
  10. All they wanted was a Pepsi. And we wouldn't give it to them. Just a Pepsi. I hung around with the Punks of the mid 80s. But I liked Maiden, Priest ect.. a little more. Black Flag Damaged was played so many times at our parties my brain will never be able to erase it. .......Bass guitar.... TV Party tonight. TV party tonight......
  11. I had it on LP but it saw 1 too many 80s parties. I need to pick it up again on CD.
  12. I'd say the seller was pretty close. My initial thought was 4.0 but maybe there's a bit too much wear on the spine. I don't see any marvel chipping. It looks like the top of the comic may have wrapped a bit higher then the inner pages and caused many folds and tears over time.
  13. That is a nice copy. I don't really see any issues other than some spine wear and the color breaks up top and the upper front corner. Nice White pages. 8.0
  14. I wasn't a fan of TS either. I think Dee Snyder swore more than he sang. I'll never forget The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner. Seemed like the song went on forever.
  15. Remember Hulk 271. People were stepping over their own grandmother just to snag a copy. As mentioned. What goes up... goes down. Except most GA SA and BA keys.
  16. I saw Iron Maiden in concert during their Powerslave Tour. Twisted Sister was the opener. I lost a good amount of hearing from that concert.
  17. Here's an example from a new seller. I don't want to post the seller but its for a Bronze Age Amazing Spider-Man issue. There is no picture of the back cover so right away you start to wonder.
  18. Your auction looks fine IMO. You have many pictures and describe all the defects. I was basically poking fun at the listers that give you a bad pic and no description. They figure they will take no responsibility for the condition and put it all on you by making you ask every question you can think of. You're good.
  19. By ebay selling standards i'd be pretty happy with that book. At least it appears to be ballpark. The "or better" in the listing is kinda something you have to ignore.
  20. Aw man a new bag and board and its got the OBO option. Surprised you people aint all over this.
  21. Honestly though I love hunting for comics on eBay. If you bid on auctions from well known sellers you will have alot of competition. If you take your time and look for those not so well known sellers you may find a good deal. I've gotten some pretty good books over the tears. And yes i've also gotten some pretty poor books also. I guess I never spend a ton on my books so it all evens out. If you want no surprises buy the book that already comes in a CGC slab.
  22. Just follow the Ride The Tigers guide to comic shopping on the Bay and you'll be fine. Lets begin. 1. WoW <--- if this is in the title you should bid asap before someone else snatches it up. 2. Comes Bagged and Boarded <---- You find this in the title then you know its a Gem. Buy it! 3. "I know nothing about grading so ask many questions" <--- this in the description shows how honest the seller is. Bid Bid Bid. 4. Picture of comic in plastic but no pic of the back. <---- Hello. The comic is in such great shape that removing it from the bag might damage it. You want this book. 5. CGC It. <--- Well come on how can this be a bad idea? Just follow those 5 simple rules and soon you'll be buying comics off the Bay just like the rest of us.
  23. I am a metal fan but I wasn't referencing anything by Dio with my name. Its actually a Kung Fu move from a sequence called raining fist. My daughter takes Kung Fu and I always hear her teacher saying Ride The Tiger and I thought it sounded really cool. Hence idea for my screen name. I'm class of 85 so yes i'm a big metal fan.
