  1. 3 book High Value submission Dropped off at FedEx - Jan 30 Arrived at CGC - Feb 5 Opened and SFG - Feb 8 This is my first high value submission that I am sending through my own account (used to send high value books through a presser), and I am really looking forward to seeing how it goes.
  2. I can't speak for the timeline, but my experience using CCS a few years back was they were every bit as good as other pressers out there.
  3. Ah, it all makes sense now. I have been checking a submission that has not been opened even though it was delivered a couple of days ago and it seemed to be taking a while compared to other recent ones to get into the system. I was started to get a little worried because it is a high value submission, but now I know why things are slower which makes me feel a lot better. Vintage and Magazine submissions are typically the slowest.
  4. Magazines have always been a bit different with that stuff. It seems that magazines take a lot longer in some of the stages, especially grading and encapsulation.
  5. Yes, it could definitely be today or tomorrow. The wait after QC is not usually all that long unless there is a backup somewhere.
  6. You will see the grade once it is marked as Shipped. That should not be too much longer. Best of luck!
  7. The specific point is whether the legalese in the filing is unusual. People highlighted the usage of "approximately" as being unusual to them, and to me it seemed normal. You can bang whatever drum you like in this thread though - the topic is pretty broad with many dimensions to it.
  8. Maybe a lawyer can weigh in on this, but to me it is not at all unusual and I would be shocked if they used absolute numbers. When they use "approximately" it leaves the door open in case other instances are discovered, but if they use a hard number they can be shown to be wrong if that number changes.
  9. You can expect it to be pretty fast. When the grading is done the charge will hit your card, and it should be shipping shortly after that. Congrats on the big book:) Be sure to share some pics in the This Week Back from CGC thread when you get it back.
  10. Just to close the loop on this, the FedEx delivery is this morning. Total calendar days at CGC - 11 Total calendar days on assorted FedEx trucks - 12 On one hand, CGC was exceptionally fast which is amazing. On the other, welcome to the wonderful world of shipping to and from Canada.
  11. Some pressers roll books at a pretty high clip and can make a living through the cost of pressing. They often include submissions as a part of the package, but the markup on sending books in is usually negligible - most of the time people see the value in sharing shipping costs to and from CGC (especially in Canada where these shipping costs are pretty outrageous). If someone tries to mark up submission charges by a decent amount they will find themselves without customers pretty quickly. At least that is how it goes up here.

  13. I would not expect much in terms of statements during ongoing litigation. If something does come out it would be vetted by their legal team.
  14. I thought this video was really well done and informative, but I actively avoided the others earlier one when the scam was breaking.
  15. That is ad hominem. I don't judge the validity of comments based on who makes them. Point taken about context though. It absolutely matters in a lot of ways, although I would argue not exactly in the way you are using it. Although context matters, a person I don't care for can make a good point, and someone I really like can make a bad one. At the end of the day I don't know anyone on these boards so I just call it like I see it based on the words in front of me. The point "try to treat people right" is unassailable to me, but thank you for pointed out why this may be loaded to some people on these boards given the source.
  16. Sorry, I had to re-read this a couple of time to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. These boards have a hall of shame?
  17. I think the point is being a jerk doesn't get you far. A good lesson to learn from.
  18. I don't think Chip did what you are attributing to him. I did have to re-read it a couple of times, but I'm very sure he was talking about having an excellent professional reputation. And yes, you do get a great professional reputation by doing things right and treating people the right way.
  19. Since we are talking about being honest about things, I have read all of the posts in both threads about comic scams and there are two things I would note as being very true. First, different people will have different perspectives on how the scandal impacts them. We are all situated in our own realities, and for some the sky is falling, for others things go on as usual, and a lot of people are somewhere in between. Second, despite the first point I mentioned there never seems to be a shortage of people who are condescending enough to take an attitude that basically reduces to: "if you don't believe what I believe, which is obviously the TRUTH and only reality that matters, you are a corporate shill/dishonest with yourself/kidding yourself about where things are heading/not paying enough attention/getting the facts wrong/etc etc etc." If pushed to expand a bit, some other things I know to be true are that CGC will continue onwards as the gold standard for comic grading, people will continue to send their comics in to CGC, and although impacts of the scams will be felt the hobby will certainly go on.
  20. If you text customer service you will get a reply within a few minutes. The text number is 1 (855) 472-3310. They will answer texts on weekends as well.
  21. That is definitely not normal right now. I would text customer support to see what is up. It is possible that it has been opened and is in the system but is not showing up on your account for some reason.
  22. I completely get the frustration, and mistakes that impact upon members that warrant criticism were definitely made. However, I wouldn't go so far as to lump every decision-maker at CGC into one pot and saying they don't care about us or comic collecting in general. I take it as a given that people who have moved up the ranks within CGC care a great deal about comic collectors and love our hobby - that is why they are doing this as a career. Mistakes were absolutely made along the way, but I think those mistakes are more likely to be the result of other pressures than a lack of caring about us or the hobby (e.g., making sure the budget is in line with corporate expectations, trying to hire enough people in the middle of a pandemic to meet the insatiable demand for grading books at the time, etc). Here is my two cents. My place of work has hundreds of employees, and trust me I would not be surprised to find a crappy person in that mix of personalities. Having bad apples slip through into a large business is simply not a surprise. Normal business processes like growing in size quickly and switching to new facilities make things even more challenging and lead to further risk. The thing that needs to be improved, IMO, are safeguards to prevent employees from potentially stealing or tampering with products under their care (i.e., solidify a chain of custody so every person who touches a book is tracked) and safeguards to ensure employees are not handling anything that is not directly under their purview (e.g., only certain people get to touch labels, anyone outside of that group simply does not have access to them). External audits can be contracted out to ensure a safe chain of custody and to identify possible cracks in existing processes that may not have been considered. If I put on the "if I was running the company" hat this is where I would be spending some extra money.
  23. I was going to write something longer but I think this pretty much sums it up.
  24. 10 for me this round. I did ok with some but I took a complete beating on the first book. The piece out of the bottom right plus other issues made it look far worse to my eyes than a 6.0. With 15 total after 2 rounds I am out of contention, but I am still looking to have a solid bounce back round some time soon.
