  1. I have not noticed anything to support that argument in the groups of books I have sent in. Some of the ones I sent in that were graded faster were graded harshly, others were not, and the same is true for the ones that took longer.
  2. Is it just me, or is the wait to move from G/E/I to QC taking longer than it did a couple of months ago? My orders were typically moving between these stages in a day or so, but the past three orders have sat for a week before being graded and shipped out. No biggie for me either way, I just like to know so I know how often to check in to see what the grades are. They are still beating promised TATs on modern books by a pretty decent margin.
  3. Just got back from a short holiday and there was some movement on a couple of orders while I was away. Fast track submission with 9 moderns: SFG - 5/25/2022, G/E/I - 5/27/2022, QC and shipped on 6/01/2022 (generally good but two results were head scratchers) Slow Track submission with 25 moderns at a 9.8 pre-screen: SFG - 3/18/2022, G/E/I - 5/27/2022, no other movement yet.
  4. Not sure if the OP is from outside of the USA, but the package can also be opened when it goes through international customs.
  5. My FT Moderns that got to CGC yesterday have already been entered into the system so it definitely looks like you are right about this.
  6. One thing I noticed is up until now my Modern pre-screens have been moving much faster than slow track submissions. The slow track that was just completed was SFG a week after my next pre-screen, so it seems to have reversed.
  7. They actually marked it shipped 25 May so it will probably go out tomorrow even though it is done. Makes sense since this was completed half way through the afternoon.
  8. My predictions were bang on for about half the books. Had a couple of pleasant surprises, and then about a half dozen that were low but only by a step or so. Only 2 books really puzzled me but I could have just missed something since the others seem fair enough to me.
  9. I have found that if it hits QC in the AM it is the same day, but if it is in the afternoon (and especially late afternoon) it is shipped the next day. Either way it is really close
  10. Modern slow track group of 25: Received - 24 March 2022 G/E/I - 23 May 2022 Quality Control - 24 May 2022
  11. That hasn't been the case for me so far. Getting an exceptionally tough grader happens, but it seems completely random as far as I can tell.
  12. Doesn't bother me in the least. People need breaks (if that is the case), and a week or two either way doesn't make a difference to me when I am submitting books.
  13. People have noted this sort of thing before. The common theory is that you are assigned to a grader, and they work at different paces or have days off along the way.
  14. Modern slow track group of 25 received on 24 March 2022, just flipped to G/E/I 23 May 2022.
  15. I called again today and they let me know that a decision has been reached on how to handle this. They will be sending me a label to send it back using the Mechanical Error submission, and then they will look at it again and put it into a slab if they still think it is a 9.8. So basically what I was hoping for as a resolution.
  16. I try to be patient. The people who work the help lines are not at fault, and the ones I spoke with always do their best. I also get that mistakes happen. I just expect them to be dealt with in a reasonable amount of time.
  17. Yup, it had the code stuck to the front that they use to identify the book but it was sent back in the reject group (it was a pre-screen submission). They charged me for it being slabbed and it was registered as such, but it was sent back raw.
  18. Yesterday was the one month anniversary of having a book arrive back at my home that was not slabbed even though it was listed as 9.8 in the online tracking and I was charged for it. I got on the phone with CGC within 15 mins of opening the box, and I have been on the phone with them several times since then with no resolution. I try to be fair and I understand that things happen, but this should have been pretty straightforward. They should send me a slip to send it back, re-grade, and either slab it or refund the cash I paid to slab that book. Either that or send me a credit to compensate for everything. But every time I call there is no decision made on this issue, and the people on the help line have to real authority to make decisions. I am starting to get frustrated.
  19. I agree. I have to sift through economy complaints to find the stuff I am looking for here. A separate thread seems like a good solution since the economy and moderns are on different wavelengths for TATs.
  20. My last fast track was also really fast. I love that quick turnaround and I am about to send another FT modern group in today.
  21. Awesome, my next pre-screen moderns were 3/18 so shouldn't be too much longer.
  22. I've had really quick turnaround around over the past few months on slow track moderns, especially those with a pre-screen. I expect that to start drying up now though since they diverted some of their graders to help clear out the massive backlog in pre-1975 books.
  23. I just want to quickly add that I was very impressed with the shipping back to me. I am used to FedEx ground which usually takes a week or so from Canada to and from CGC. The package was picked up at CGC yesterday and showed up at my door 18 hours later. Really incredible, and big kudos for selecting the more expensive shipping option. I would have been totally fine with regular ground so this was a very pleasant surprise.
  24. The long boxes on their sides with comics stacked without bags or boards make me cringe and sob a little.
