I'm not complaining, maybe a little, Prices on Pre-Code now is all relative. I've purchased most of my books 90% of the EC run and many Horror keys back in the 90's and early 2000's. I just personally wouldn't pay that money doesn't mean they aren't worth it.

I purchased Blackcat Mystery at my first con in 1976 and yes it wasn't alot.

Oh man, I traded about 5 pre code horror books and some cash to get my copy last year

Has CCS ever posted about their staff? (At least since they've been under the CGC umbrella).

It would be helpful or at least informative if the website had a page of "Here's our qualified staff with XX years of experience" so we know who's doing the work.

If Matt's no longer there, is it a crew of experts? Is it an intern in a closet? A little transparency wouldn't hurt.

All I can picture is some character like Ryan from The Office. Sitting in a closet pumping out a press with comics stacked op top of each other :insane:. I feel like maybe the people who clean and press the books are interns, but I feel uneasy about that thought. Some credentials should be necessary I believe.

I'm going to be a hit harsher and go down to a 2.5. Possibly lower depending on how rust and water impact the interior.

From recent experience, CGC is really harsh on rust and water damage. That big stain on the back likely effects multiple pages and the color loss on the front is likely from being stored in a damp environment.

Does the rust on the staples migrate to the pages?

The rust so far is just on the staples, so I should probably act quick on this one. Also the water stain doesn’t seem to go through multiple pages. It’s as if it’s just on the back cover :insane:

In my opinion, CCS is doing two things wrong:  (1) They are being unethical in totally skipping cleaning or doing a crappy cursory cleaning job instead of actually doing the cleaning job they are being paid for, and (2) they are taking shortcuts when setting books up for pressing, improperly protecting the covers and staples - causing at best less than ideal results, and at worst detaching covers.

I'm sure the volume of books is why they are being delinquent - that's a reason, but not an excuse.

I started doing all my own pressing a little over a year ago and have yet to pop a single staple.

I remember the first batch of books I sent you, I think 1/3 of them were beyond fragile and yet you did a stellar job. I feel like if I sent them to ccs they would of come back half a grade lower if not a whole grade. I think ccs might not have enough employees for the volume of books they get submitted so they are just pushing the books out. Another thing I was thinking was, they probably don’t have people who might take pride in the work they do. Probably do to the volume of books they get submitted. Does anyone know how many people ccs has on staff to clean and press books? I have to imagine it’s more than 20, I hope.

99.7% is prob stellar in a lot of industries, but when it comes to ebay comic sellers, it's really not that hard to get 100%, or 99.9% at the worst.  Less than that and it usually indicates problems with that seller.  (full disclosure:  I only have 600+ feedback on ebay - but its 100% positive)

Yes I have maybe 70 sales on my eBay but I still have 100% positivity. I just try to be as transparent as possible and take a lot of photos if I am selling raw books. But I think this guy lacks transparency. :shy:

I'll say.  He's got some good reader's there!  Mysterious Adventures 23 and Beware Terror Tales 6 are both loaded with good stories, and I believe the Out Of The Shadows copy has the first story illustrated by Reed Crandall.

Thanks! I’m excited to read them!
