If this is mostly 1980s books, condition is everything.  They'll need to be in nice shape to score (and warrant the work).

Agree, and if they were at one shop, then pawed thru at another, then cherry picked  . . .

I hope it isn't that a seasoned collector/LCS owner just unloaded low quality fill books on a newbie.  Buyer beware.

I will go ahead and say it.

It is me.  Probably 90% of the fecal posts and 20-30% of the "soft core" posts are mine.  I will take the blame(or credit) depending on how you view it.

I have tried to stay within the guidelines of what is specifically allowed on the forum and there are times where I am on the line or just over. I have received points and vacations for my missteps.  Mods have been very fair.

One of the issues is that some may see some of these posts and feel that things are not fair. That is not the case.

I will just quote  Gloria Loring..

Appreciate you taking the hit if you think what you posted was over the line.  Not sure why Marwood feels the need to keep hitting Mike up with his "concerns".  If Mike had an issue with a post I'm sure he can take the appropriate action but all these fragile folks these days are just a joy kill and time suck.  Either they have blue hair and you can only see their knuckles when you're driving behind them (get off my lawn!) or they have blue hair and saggy pants and have a bunch of participation trophies (I'm triggered!).  Ugh.

Maybe not, but they're comics and a part of comic history. You're not one of those people who want the past to be eradicated, are you, if it doesn't suit modern sensibilities?

There's no equivalence here JJ - comics are comics - offensive posts that have nothing to do with comics aren't. This is a comic forum and the moderator has set some boundaries on non comic content. That's it.

I'm off now, night time in Blighty. Have fun :)

You're off base, I don't want to eradicate the past at all, you are the one concerned about potential new female board members.

Again, my rights don't end because you don't like what I have to say.  If you don't like Cornfield Library, please don't go there and get offended.

Do you always answer a question with a question?

    OK.

No, I think as comic enthusiasts they would love them.

Again, no. That's misrepresenting my position again. I want people to stop posting things that are clearly beyond the pale for a comic forum. Mike agrees, and he is the moderator who sets the rules. That is nothing to do with the wider constraints you refer to in society which I agree with you on in many respects.

This is a comic forum. It's not wider society.

    Noted.

You think all new potential female board members approve Vampirella, bondage, and Pre-code comics (even the racist WWII comics) and that none of them would be offended.  And you think they put comics in a good light.  Noted.

Do you think you should be able to post whatever you like here without any limitations?

Do you think I should be able to tell you what you can and can't post?

You stated you want the boards to be female friendly, reminds me of "it's for the children".  Do you think covers of comics that show super-heroes promoting violence could offend any potential new female board members?  Do you think Vampirella covers might offend any women?  GA bondage covers?  Pre-Code horror covers?  You just want to limit things on the board you don't like.  I'm not ok with that.

That's misrepresenting what others are saying, JJ.

Fragility has got nothing to do with it. This has:

You're just being asked to tone it down a bit. Not much to ask, is it.

Thanks for your opinion.  I'm going to respectfully disagree with you.  If we were to talk 1:1 we would easily be able to trade ideas and have a meaningful conversation.  But if you want to discuss or posts things on a message board the more people that read it, the more likely someone is going to disagree with you or be offended.  You really have two choices, self censor and have meaningless bland conversations or risk offending someone.  My free speech rights don't stop just because you don't like something I say.  If you don't like that movie director don't go see his movies.  If you don't like the comic don't go to his shows.  Turn off that music if you don't like it but for God's sake please, please, please, don't try and censor folks.  That is what we are seeing with all these fragile adults, it's sad, and un-American.  Thanks.

It's been fascinating to me to watch society transition from "do your own thing" when I was a kid to "don't you dare say anything I might find offensive."  I have no respect for these latter days.  How did we allow people to get so arrogant without slapping them down?

I do agree that stuff that's not allowed elsewhere on the site with regard to "dirty" words and the like shouldn't be allowed here either.  That's basically the deal that was made for this thread's existence in the first place.

As I've noted before, this thread has not been used in the way I thought it would be, and a way that I thought would "clean up" all the other threads by sending "off topic" posts "to the cornfield."  It's been used instead as more of a general "post anything you want" thread with predictable results.

Agree, people are WAY to fragile.

So it appears that some do not like the Cornfield.  Now in the moderation thread there is discussion about first moving it to the WC instead of CG and then the conversation moved to a Poll to see if they should shut it down.

If they start a poll make sure to vote.
