I think the price is what someone wants to pay so I won’t get into that ... but on sketch covers I think they are a sort of crossover for the comic/Cgc collector getting into art. Like someone above said they can be stored with your books and people can get there coveted grades. I have a couple I actually picked this one up today from Larry Stroman. Personally I like them better when they are more intricate like a real personalized cover rather then the head shots or busts that are most popular: if you are only doing a head shot- have it remarked on an actual cover when getting signed.

I am a relative noob to OA collecting.. I know this may not even come close to a grail for a lot of you.. but to me this is it. Today I went out to the Suffolk Art Con to pick up the piece from the artist and as happy as I could be with the piece, meeting and interacting with @stinkininkin made it all the sweeter! Being a long time X-men fan from the minute Scott posted an image of the Uncanny X-men 13 cover he did I was in love. I grew up with Jim Lee and Scott Williams as THE X-men artists of the time and Neal Adams is probably the reason I started collecting SA books. When I saw the cover it evoked memories of both Lee and Adams style as well as a uniqueness that appealed to me being done by Scott. After asking Scott about the cover and how Adams influenced him and that he was also a collector I had to have it . I am a realist and know I will most likely never be able to afford a Lee or Adams cover ( unless someone wants to share a winning power ball ticket with me lol) but this was within reach and Scott gave me some time to pay it off . Today it is in my hands and will never leave! Scott was fantastic all around. I have bought other pieces direct from the artist both published and commissioned but no one was as much a pleasure to deal with all around. He even signed and remarked my copy and chatted up Myself and my GF. Thank You Scott and now I need to find a good framer!
