Are there any articles about the collection from around the time of discovery ? Perhaps in convention programs , fan zines , etc ?

So 4 years later have things changed ? Which one do you prefer ? I'm looking for a subscription to either GPA or Go Collect . I used GoCollect and they do offer now sales from ebay and the 3 major auction houses for both CGC and CBCS .
I have not used GPA so i am curious what do i get for the extra $5 ? From what i see the only track CGC books . Do they have more sales data than GPA ?

Ya know you are getting older on days like this...
Got a call this afternoon that my good friend Joe passed away. 56 years old of colon cancer.
Joe has been a good junk friend for many years. He was the guy that bought and sold the "Paul" collection. I remember going over to his place to see them for the first time. Box fulls of killer GA and all for sale. He had sold off most of the Batmans to a guy he really didn't like much. I was the second call and way overjoyed to be #2.
Joe and his wife had a comic store in PA years ago so he knew comics but didn't collect them. He had a world class collection of "tribal art" which I didn't care about but it was world class. He had everything priced at Overstreet and I bought as much as I could everytime we met up. If I didn't have the dough that day, he would hold them for me until I could come up with the scratch. I was always his first call when he would unearth new ones out of the hundreds of boxes of "stuff" he found. We had so much fun going through them. They were all mixed up in boxes with pulps, sci-fi stuff, other magazines and even porn. I got the whole story on "Paul".
To this day, I run into stray "in the wild" copies around my area. I always think of those days going through those boxes.
He was a good friend who also, like me, loved motorcycles and rock 'n roll. A very positive attitude all the way through his illness. A smile and a story for everybody. Never talking about his illness unless I asked.
I was going to post some "Paul" books in his honor and I remembered this one. He kept the ECs until the last and I got first crack at them. He loved this one so much he had a tattoo of this cover on his leg! About a year ago, he came up to my booth at a show and just gave it to me. The last book from a remarkable collection.
Damn, the good die young sometimes. But I'm still here bro, riding my bike, cranking my rock-a-billy music and enjoying all those wonderful "Paul" comics. I will miss you. RIP until we meet again!
Sorry about your friend . He sound like a wonderful guy. All men over 40 should go and get checked for colon cancer . Could you share the story for the “Paul” collection ? It’s the first time i have heard about it.

I wouldn't pay $31 for it
From what i remember seller turned down an offer for 1 million for it . I’m curious how much he gets .

I just had this happen to me. I bought a 9.2 CGC blue label ASM 300 off Ebay. Came back yellow SS 7.5. Unless they cracked it with a hacksaw or Todd decided to use it as a napkin during his marathon signing, I’m dumbfounded as to the disparity. I get grading is subjective and can see where the differences between 9.2 and 9.4 can be minuscule but how does a grader blow a grade by 2 whole grades?
What do the graders notes say ?

How much did the 5.5 sell for ?
4 hours ago, thewritestuff said:The eBay copy is now the cgc graded copy for sale on these boards in the GA for sale section (for only slightly more than twice the cost of what it was purchased for😆)
and I just saw this on Instagram that Someone just sold a Manhunt 12 5.5 graded by one of those other companies.
I have a feeling the buyer of the CC copy won’t be too thrilled to know two higher graded copies just popped up a few months after his “one of a kind” purchase.

Here's a thread when CGC was looking to get feedback on the new label coloring:
I know the thread but after the initial question CGC did not provide any announcement/feedback that the label will be changed , that's why I was surprised to see the gold label .

It looks nice but seems to be to similar to the SS labels . I would have picked a color that would be easily recognizable from far away .
Maybe neon

I was browsing the CGC website and stumbled upon the pedigree section . Pedigree books will be assigned a gold label now .

We have been in the modern age of comics for some 20+ years. Comics from 20 years ago are pretty different than comics today . What do you think needs to happen in order to move to next age ?

i have read that thread but it doesn't answer my questions . Does GPA have more transactions than Go Collect ? Or other special features ?
