  1. I totally agree with the aesthetic and storage appeal of de-slabbing, I guess I'm afraid of the cost of re-slabbing the more valuable ones before selling them, and the risk of damage during shipping/grading etc. You hear the horror stories...
  2. Wow glad I didn't see that one! I'd be eating beans and rice for months.
  3. Well- yeah I didn't think of looking in Overstreet. This is confusing. So there are four variants? Seems the covers are the same but the contents differ? Damn those are low values. But I guess with cole books going 3-5 times guide the range would be around $900-$2500 for NM.
  4. I was thinking maybe one was a Canadian version or something which might significantly affect value.
  5. Since there's a lot of LB Cole buzz around here, I thought it would be a good time to ask about Great #1. I've seen a few high graded books sell over the past year or so, and have been looking to buy, but it seems there are variants- a Novack and something else... Can anyone explain this? Thanks!
  6. I love the look and feel of a book in a mylar bag as opposed to a slab, but have yet to cross the line of actually "cracking" any books from their holders. I see people around here doing it on occasion- just wondering why?
  7. Man I love the crude weird cole horror and crime covers the most. The more lurid and insane the art and color the better. Its like 105 is almost "too "good" or even tame for my taste. Obviously your 9.8 is total once in a lifetime gem, hell I was on the verge of transferring money from an "untouchable" account to bid big on. But I was super stoked to get the 9.0 #112- I just can't imagine being a kid- or an adult- and actually seeing that thing on the newsstand back in 1952. The105 might disappear into the other sci-fi books of the time, but the 112? It's like an exploding bad/good acid trip. Anyway, no disrespect to your purchase, I'd love to own it, but not what I consider Coles most appealing work. And maybe with Coles going at such high prices, owners may feel now's the time to sell, and we'll see more of these fantastic books.
  8. Ignorance was bliss! Would you share your knowledge of this book's past with me?
  9. Bought a stack of witching hours and they arrived very quickly in a bullet proof package. Well not really bullet proof but hella secure- thanks!
  10. Damn those Planets are awesome! Great prices too. The colors and creature on #2 are something else. I barely took this one- closed just a hair under my high bid.
  11. Yeah that ones a beauty too, but I had to go with the 9. Wouldn't have got the 114 at my limit.
  12. I'm new to the boards but had to share this with some folks who can appreciate it... I was totally blown away by this cover when first saw it years ago in the Gerber book- def my favorite of the run, and couldn't pass up the chance to throw a bid at a 9. Didn't think I'd get it for what I bid, which was more than Ive ever paid for a book. And I wasn't able to follow the auction live, so I was totally surprised when I did check!
  13. Blacklight is a bad azz book of LB Cole art- check it out if youre a fan, affordable on amazon.
  14. Just a book of high quality full size (or bigger) cover reproductions.
  15. this looks great- thanks! I don't want to be tossing around all my awesome marvels- not!
