  1. I've been meaning to ask about this book for awhile- there's multiple versions right? I've seen a few copies for sale over the past year, in high grade for very reasonable prices, but figured they weren't the most desirable versions. Am I wrong???
  2. (never mind, I jumped the gun by not reading the rest of the topic....) What issue is this? I've been buying the pulps with his covers and have copies of all the chilling tales with his covers. Love his stuff.
  3. I was tempted to go all out on this one on Ebay till I examined the scan. It's a silver streak #6, listed as 7.0. I emailed the seller and asked if it was OG or a reprint. They never got back to me so I let it go. The black along the top and right edges looks like a photocopy? reprint? All the previously auctioned books I found had nothing like it. Also, I noticed some books say "15cents in Canada" below the price on the cover and some don't. It went for $6600. Can anyone clarify what this is? Thanks!
  4. Hey All- I collect golden age horror, jungle, crime, war etc. Years ago I bought a bunch of these books to use as research/reference for some art and writing projects. I put them away and recently rediscovered them. Their value has increased, and so has their cool factor and personal appeal. For me it's the stranger and more unusual the better in terms of art and writing. Also, EC comics almost feel too mainstream for me, or too cartoonish (?), I mean EC has tons of incredibly awesome and classic stuff, but maybe because it's been so popularized, and maybe because I've grown up on Mad magazine I'm now too familiar with a lot of the artists, but whatever the reason (maybe they cost too much??), I don't have any ECs. I collect almost exclusively the smaller publishers and artists with wonderfully crude, visionary or otherwise unique styles (L.B. Cole is a prime example). Anyway I look forward to getting familiar with the site!
  5. I collect primarily golden age, and I've noticed that on some CGC books graded 6.5 and 6.0, there's pieces missing like small 1/8 -1/4" triangles from corners and 1/4" chips from edges. When I look at the Overstreet grading guide, it says missing pieces are not allowed for these grades. In fact, missing pieces aren't allowed at all until 4.5. So why do these books receive higher grades from CGC? Are these defects not considered missing pieces? Does CGC use their own grading guidelines? Thanks!
