  1. Those of you who participated in thirdgreenham's fabulous Silver Age war sale recently may enjoy seeing this. Not a comic book, although those are terrific too and I'll post some favorites as time permits, but the box they came in! About half of the surface of the box looked like this: I figure it was either: a reminder that Andy had to pay Canadian shipping rates or a gentle ribbing for "nickel and diming him to death" during the sale. I was happy to get a big stack of reader and better All-American Men of War and Our Army at War comics for a reasonable price. It was great dealing with Andy -- thanks! Jack
  2. The variant cover needs to go here in Silver Age too. Jack
  3. aka the Metamorpho and Sapphire prototype cover. Very nice copy! Jack
  4. HAW! You may be the only person to realize it. From Strange Adventures 132 -- I "need" to get a copy. It's like Murphy Anderson asked me to pose for a caricature. Jack I will look for one for you in Chicago next weekend. That's a hoot Thanks. Don't get me one o' those slab thingies! Jack It will be raw and low grade, just like you like 'em Well, I LIKE 'em high grade -- but I BUY 'em low grade! Jack yeah, but bill is buying this one, so go for high grade! I like the way this guy thinks -- 'til I get Bill's bill! (and I'd have to pay him with Jack's jack)

  8. Are you saying that you wish you were a fan? Not hardly! She who lives by the paparazzi dies by the paparazzi. Jack
  9. Come September, he'll walk out of the shower and it'll be like all this never happened. Jack Never pegged you for a Dallas fan...... I wasn't. If I've seen more than 5 minutes (total) of the show, it would be a miracle. It's just one of those pop culture moments that "everybody knows". I know who Britney Spears is too w/o being a fan. Unfortunately. Jack

  11. Sometimes it's hard to see the Heath signature in the waves near the spine. It's easy on your very clean copy! Jack
  12. Here's mine, but it's an oversized book so I'm afraid the scanner cut off the edges. that one is nice!!!...I will check tonight to see if my scanner is big enough to capture entire cover... It looked like minimal cropping, so I cleaned it up and uploaded the scan. Thanks, Jack
  13. The Short Bus is back on the route! The World's Worst Art Spotter says that it's not Ward. Looks like a "shop job" to me -- very generic. Jack
  14. A little similar huh? My River City copy. Shiver me Bones! Very familiar. Jack
  15. I could probably manage it. You're a big help! Looking at the scans side-by-side after cropping and a simple "color enhance" to even out the contrast, I think Rick wins because the scan he sent me off-list was so much bigger than it doesn't have any "crinkling" in the solid colors from compression. They're both a big improvement. If I were any good with my "lite" Photoshop, I could probably patch his date with your scan. If anyone wants to try it for fun, I'll send the scans. Thanks, Jack I would go with Win's, because of the no hole punch...but, as you mention, if someone can superimpose the hole punch out, then you have the best of both worlds! I already uploaded Rick's because I liked the way the colors came out. Image at GCD If you've already looked at the page today, don't forget to "reload" or you'll see the old image. Meanwhile, the editor that marked #2 for replacement also marked #1. Could one of you kind gents post or email a scan of the cover of #1? Again, 400 pixel minimum width. Thanks again, Jack

  17. Here's mine, if that helps: Great run, Rick. That #1 is downright impossible to find, and #2 is quite tricky. No hole punch! Now I'm torn. Who will be more ticked off if I don't use their scan? Thanks to both of you! Did we just see about half of all existing copies? Jack
  18. Jack, how do you change that one since it's not been tagged as Needing Replacement?!? Just send a message to the editors at gcd-errors@lists.comics.org This is the info I usually include with the title and issue as subject line. http://www.comics.org/details.lasso?id=294730 (that's the issue page url) Keen Komics #v2#2 Can you mark the cover for upgrade? They'll usually mark it within a day and let you know when it's ready. Often within an hour for me because I'm special (that's pronounced, "a pest" ) Jack
  19. Great copies! Do you (or anyone) have a cover scan of #2? The scan at GCD is lousy -- over-expanded from a smaller size, possibly by me just to fill the hole. Thanks, Jack I can scan my cover...has a hole punch in it, but it is the only copy I have ever seen for sale, so I snagged it who would I send it to? rick Post it here or email to me (PM is fine). Min width 400 pixels. I'll be glad to crop, rotate, whatever, and upload. (Then mail it to me so I can index it. ) Thanks! Jack

  21. Heck, it's already pasted all over the www. Who needs a poster? Jack
  22. At least 90, I always typed faster than my secretarys...(and you can't afford me;) Wonder Woman worked pro bono! You're insinuating that you're worth more than Diana? Jack Did Cher work pro Bono?
  23. I am a DC goober too, as is ciorac (jab was initially at him, but you are welcome to join us!)... I love your group shots Those are both wonderful groupings of books! DC Goobers Unite! I would like to formerly open the first official meeting of the DC Goobers of the World club, and nominate Ciorac as Chair, Plady69 as Vice, Adamstrange as Sergeant at Arms and billyparker as trash collector... can I get a second? I Second the motion (you can't second yourself, Bill;) Beautiful books, DC Goobers...I grew up with DC's...Marvels were those "other "guys;) Unfortunately, DC rules require that you join as "secretary". http://my.execpc.com/~icicle/WONDERWOMAN.html "In 1942, Wonder Woman encountered the Justice Society of America. A male-dominated organization, the JSA declined Wonder Woman full membership, despite the fact that she possessed more raw ability than any of the current membership except the Spectre (All-Star Comics vol. 1 #11). She was, however, offered a position as "secretary," which she accepted." I'll try to think of a boardie to second your nomination. Jack (How many words per minute? )

Seems like you need some DC Gomers to complement the DC Goobers. Jack Sha-zay-um!
