  1. Congrats, Jack. A quick one -- I think. When Mr. Mxyzptlk made Supergirl immune to green kryptonite, she was exposed to six red kryptonite metors. What effect did the fourth meteor have on her? Jack
  2. Here's another image from the cover. ...and another. Wonderworld Comics 15 It shouldn't have taken that long! Jack
  3. Another great "unnecessary exposition" cover. Jack (Good Lord, he's posted another message!)
  4. Here's one of my favorites with great greens, graytone and all. It's also a Lichtenstein source book. (No, NOT my copy -- swiped from Heritage. Maybe one of you owns this one. Mine's not terrible, but it's stashed away in storage.) Jack That book is a bit of a sore point for me.... I remember bidding 5 or 6 times guide on it, certain I would get it - it was a lot of money, somewhere in the $500 to $600 range if memory serves. And of course, I got outbid in the final hours. Sorry to dredge up a bad memory! I figured that people here had bid on the book. Sold for over 6x guide? Wow! It's probably my favorite OFF cover. If anyone's interested, here are the source panel and Lichtenstein painting from OFF 71. Jack
  5. Njoly of Saturn Jyno-27 of Pluto Kikoki of Mercury Ro-Dura of Mars This one seems too recent for you, BZ! Jack
  6. Here's one of my favorites with great greens, graytone and all. It's also a Lichtenstein source book. (No, NOT my copy -- swiped from Heritage. Maybe one of you owns this one. Mine's not terrible, but it's stashed away in storage.) Jack
  7. All fantastic, but these three are standouts for me! Kelly's fairy tale work is just wonderful. I've really got to pick up or rent some Beany and Cecil cartoons to see if they're as fun as I remember them. Looking foward to more. Jack
  8. I'm running out of questions! Space Ranger and Cryll were nearly added to a collection of petrified interplanetary lawmen by Darmbua of Saturn. What were the names and planets of the four other lawmen captured by Darmbua? Jack
  9. HHHHAAAWWW!!! The dread carbon-13! (about 1% natural abundance in carbon) Jack
  10. Looking through my boxes of goodies I found another "you be my eyes, I'm blind story" ...just for you Jack. I wish I could find more issues available in higher grade of this title. Thanks, Fay. This and another one (at least) are on the "DC decade month by month" thread -- take a look! Jack
  11. Gotta be Fox. Fantastic Comics 7 Mystery Men Comics 11 Science Comics 5 Weird Comics 3 (recolored!) Wonderworld Comics 14 Jack
  12. .... You're killing me with comics I'll never be likely to buy. No way this one will ever be reprinted, is there? Yep, mechomen, and yep Doc Strange is punching them out. Doubtful on the reprints. You'll find one cheap sooner or later, it's only $60 in GD. "Only $60 in good." *GASP -- CHOKE!* Thanks for the info, Jack
  13. Colchicine? Bizarre!!! Does that say "mechomen"? Is that Doc Strange punchin' them out? Oooh, that's a good one. "They convert iron into chemical substances..."! Good old Pyroman. You're killing me with comics I'll never be likely to buy. No way this one will ever be reprinted, is there? Thanks, Jack
  14. I suppose if we flew across the country to get together with other geeks and fondle comic books all weekend, yes. Jack (I know that's a preposterous idea)
  15. One of my favorite covers of the run. Beautiful colors and great eye appeal on that copy! Ken Who is the cover by???...the label says Bob Kane on one side and Craig Flessel on the other???... Bob Kane??? He couldn't have TRACED a cover that well. LIAR Charlatan Defiler of the Kane legacy HAW! I admit that Kane art (if he did any of it himself) had crude charm and lots of energy, which is almost as important as fine draftsmanship on a comic book cover. Surely even a Kane zombie like yourself has to concede that Kane drew NOTHING like the detailed rendering on that cover. Jack admit it, and I'll stop calling you Shirley
  16. Silicon monsters -- WOO HOO! Do they do any good Si tricks in the story? Looks like a tough book to find -- rats! Jack
  17. One of my favorite covers of the run. Beautiful colors and great eye appeal on that copy! Ken Who is the cover by???...the label says Bob Kane on one side and Craig Flessel on the other???... Bob Kane??? He couldn't have TRACED a cover that well. I remember this cover discussed at GCD: "Art previously credited to Creig Flessel; changed per Scott Bonagofsky, 4/19/2007, from results of his discussions with Creig Flessel." Jack
  18. Li'l Arf and Nonnie How about letting the question simmer for a few minutes to make it look hard? That was in about 1952 when Pogo was Annie, right? Was there a slightly different name a few years later when Albert was Annie? That's the volume I can't put my finger on. Take it away, BZ! Jack, with his eyes blunked out
  19. OK, nobody jumped at the agostic alkyls. When Walt Kelly parodied Little Orphan Annie in Pogo, exactly what did he call the strip? (There may be more than one corrrect answer, but I only have one in front of me.) Jack
  20. I had no idea who said the Jell-O line! Ooops, another win with no question ready. My 8 am class trumps the Comic Book Quiz -- sorry. Primo question tomorrow, unless you'd rather have one right now about agostic transition metal alkyl complexes. Jack
  21. Very nice! Somebody's gotta have a list of DC's uses of the "I can't see but you can't use your hands" plot. There must be a dozen appearance on war covers alone, plus westerns and other adventure books. Jack
  22. \ Jeffro, you just outbid me on a AAMOW 62 on ebay Sorry Vaughn. I try to avoid auctions that boardies are bidding on but sometimes I can't. I did it to Shep a few months ago on an OFF, not knowing that it was him. Not that my cheapskate bids are likely to beat any serious bidder, but I set a snipe early and rarely look back until an auction closes. I've probably bid against boardies often without knowing it. Do people really have time and a list of IDs to check who else is bidding before they place a bid on an ebay auction? Jack
  23. Crisis on Infinite Earths 8 but I don't remember any Jell-O Jack
