  1. Without a doubt 214 is my favorite cover of the run, hugely influenced by the fact I saw one of these when I was still in High School and chasing down the usual Marvels and D.C.'s, I just could not believe how wonderful it was and paid $6 (which was a lot at the time). Managed to upgrade to this copy, love it so much!!!
  2. Wow that ‘Promise’ collection looks amazing! It should be good for the GA market and take a little pressure off bringing Chinatown to market.
  3. Some more photos. I’m not really an ego person but I am proud and thrilled that by the comments that have been made. It’s really about the comics not this old guy, I’ll post as much as I can and hey would like to mention that my good friend Dean was very encouraging and smart about this collection and it means a lot to me.
  4. The most common 1940’s marks on them are the Chinese symbols and/or a ‘V’ in pencil. The ‘V’ stands or Vancouver Magazine the local distributor, understandably it’s often mistaken for a check mark. In the 1950’s the books have fairly consistent date stamps usually on the back cover. There are occasional variations and some books have no marks at all.
  5. The Superman pics were for clarkkentdd, I forget who asked about Police (sorry) but here are some will post more as I can
  6. I don’t get a lot of time for the boards these days so It’s been a while, but here are more Chinatown examples. Cheers
  7. Will post the WECA books as soon as they return to me there is only about 12 or so. In the meantime here is somethings that have returned
  8. This was fun, a customer just sent me a photo of the Aug 29 newsfeed in the Greater Vancouver subway stations.
  9. I can confirm that the scans for Batman 36 and 41 are Chinatown Collection copies. Here is the 37, amazingly the 9.2 is highest graded (shared with three others) has white paper so maybe first among equals anyway.
  10. Hi again I minor correction regarding an earlier post, airwalker mention seeing a Wonder Woman 10 chinatown copy, the run actually starts with #11, however I do have the Rockford copy of WW 10 (9.4) so that may explain it.
  11. By request, from the Chinatown pedigree. Sorry it’s not a higher quality image.
  12. The Police Comics are #38-71,74. Here is podcast with a little more info. https://omny.fm/shows/mike-smyth/super-rare-comic-book-collection-certified-as-pedi To clarify, I am in addition to being a collector I am also a dealer, so many comics have left my hands over time. I do have extremely accurate info on each issue plus extensive scans so that anything outside of my hands can be identified. Any sale will be well publicized, but is not imminent. Cheers Pat
  13. Hi Everyone. Patrick at GAC here and I want to thank everybody for their positive, complimentary and celebratory comments. I've think I've written back to everyone who contacted me, if somehow I've missed anyone please write me back. I can confirm that the New Funnies shown here are Chinatown copies. I can also confirm that all of the scans posted by tth2 are authentic Chinatown copies. Unfortunately that wonderful Mystic Comics is not a Chinatown copy, as someone commented earlier the collection starts in 1944 - although there are some Canadian whites (WECA books) that are from circa 1943, however since they do not have the date printed in them CGC lists it 'No date' so it won't show up in data. I am working on a definitive list and will update as often as I can as the books that I have come back from CGC with the black label. If anyone else needs a confirmation on a Chinatown book graded or ungraded, I can do that. Thanks again to all, this has been a special part of my comic book collecting and comic book business career and you folks have made even sweeter. Stay well Pat
  14. A cool AA cover - there is not a lot of cool AA covers' - but nazi zeppelin attacks. No wonder they lost the war.
