  1. I am a fan of thoro…he was stating his opinion and a lot of people agreed with him. I know him irl….good dude. He’s not the only person that looked at the book, some of which in person and believed with some certainty that the book was trimmed. What adds to this is the fact that the person selling the book was certainly involved in some shenanigans. If he’s going to swap cases it’s not unreasonable to think he would do other things as well. Extra scrutiny is warranted. Btw, this is why I avoid all social media/online like the plague. Lol
  2. All I can say is I bought this book from the person that has been “suspected” of switching slabs. One of the books offered to me in the initial text thread is on the CGC list so this book warrants extra scrutiny. knowing what I know about this seller made me question the book. I showed it to two different dealers who said they thought it could be trimmed. I said I was on the fence and will let CGC figure it out and that’s where I am. Also he was set up at a show and he wasn’t alone…. That’s how I met him. I’m just gonna share what I know with CGC and let them figure it out. I’m honestly tired of talking about it. But as far as I’m concerned any book touched this persons hands warrants additional scrutiny and due diligence needs to be done.period.
  3. I am going to contact cgc tomorrow and submit for evaluation. The book is suspect because of the source and in hand it has questions imo. I will let cgc figure it out. Trimming and other defects can be missed
  4. So please, no more dm’s about the identity…. I’m gonna share everything I know it’s CGC tomorrow and that’s really all have to say about it
  5. OK, so I’m getting a ton of private messages asking me who the identity of these people are. While I won’t share it publicly I can’t say every gurss is pretty much 100% correct and that’s all I’m gonna say about it.
  6. I have to say, what’s going on here is a positive thing. I wanna applaud all the hard work everyone here has done. As a hobby I think it’s important we all understand that the dealers will be a unified front, CDC as a company is going to look out for the best interest, which is fine. So we need to look out for each other. I’m not a social media guy, I don’t like talking online but I do feel it was important for me to come forward with whatever I knew so that it may help protect other fellow collectors and root out ALL the bad actors
  7. I can’t say if these books were involved in the scam necessarily because I don’t know, I’m just saying that the person in question offered me these books privately
  8. Agreed….here are some of them that were offered to me. I know at least 1 was on the cgc list. Some have his personal info in the pic, so I won’t share those.
  9. Now that I’m able to see the original comic connect listing, it looks to me like the same book. But because this book was sent to me by someone that is known to have issues right now along with other books that are on the CDC list it’s still bears investigation. I will still be contacting CDC on Monday to tell them everything I know
  10. I can only speak for myself but if this book or any other I may have pops as dirty, I will seek every legal and civil remedy
  11. No doubt. It is terrible what he did and to be honest I had some reservations dealing with him which is why I never bought from him again.I also don’t think he worked alone. I am not going to put anyones business on blast here, that’s not the point. I will share what I know as facts with CGC and let them do what they need to do. There are a lot more books that need to be looked at….exponentially more.
  12. Also, I really don’t buy big books on eBay it’s just not my thing. I only buy at shows directly from dealers or other collectors. I am old and analog for the most part. Lol My interaction with him had been really from comic book shows where we exchanged info
  13. I don’t have the book in hand right now but it does look suspicious in hand. Also because this was sold to me by the person in Question AND he solicited multiple other books to me at least 1 of which is in the infamous 350, it warrants extra scrutiny. I also have a lot of info I need to share with cgc to try and aid in the investigation
  14. The graders notes mention tears/creases/stains on the back cover we really couldn’t identify in hand.
  15. There is no comic connect sticker now but I always take those stupid stickers off the back
